From Love Uplifting stories of faith, forgiveness and hope.
New York Times and Publisher's Weekly bestselling author Jocelyn McClay grew up on an Iowa farm, ultimately pursuing a degree in agriculture. She met her husband while weightlifting in a small town - he 'spotted her'. After thirty years in business management, they moved to an acreage in southeastern Missouri to be closer to family when their oldest of three daughters made them grandparents. When not writing, she keeps busy grandparenting, hiking, biking gardening, quilting, knitting and substitute teaching.
Grace is the main character in this story and she needs a summer job. Grace’s mother wants her to come home because she has a husband picked out for her. Grace does not want to go home because she has already dated the man in question and he rejected her. As a result of this projection, Grace left home and has gone to a new community to live. She is currently the school teacher, but has a summer break. Grace tells her friends that she needs a job and she is soon in Peter‘s home caring for his two children. Peter‘s wife is MIA and he is in need of someone to take care of his girls. Grace immediately falls in love with the girls and unfortunately with Peter too. Peter‘s wife ran off with an Englischer and has no intention of coming back to the Amish world. Since the Amish do not believe in divorce, Peter feels that loving and encouraging Grace is a losing battle. As the circumstance change, there’s a very happy ending.
Even though this story is part of the Miller’s Creek series, you can easily jump in and read it as a stand alone novel, too. The books in this series are so good and are some of my favorite Amish fiction!
What a situation these two main characters found themselves in. Peter and Grace started out at odds with each other, as Grace helped to take care of Peter’s daughters. It was simply because Peter was trying to establish a distance between himself and Grace, fearing initially that she was untrustworthy and eventually attempting to not allow feelings to grow between them. Yet feelings did grow! And that was a problem since Peter would always be tied to the wife who had deserted the Amish faith.
It was sweet to see how good Grace was with caring for Peter’s girls and the way she was really the perfect fit for Peter, as well. And I really felt for him and his daughters. The life they had lived with Lucetta was not a happy one. They struggled with knowing she had deserted them but also hoping that she would not return and bring sadness to their family once more.
The author did a good job of creating tension between Grace and Peter as well as building a connection between them that seemed impossible. Yet, they would eventually find their hard won happily ever after.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
This captured my attention as it isn’t your run of the mill Amish story. The characters were relatable and interesting to get to know. I definitely enjoyed reading this. I was blessed to win a copy of this book. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.
What a wonderful story. Full of heart and humor. I fell in love with Grace and Peter long before they fell for each other! I always enjoy reading McClay's stories.
found this one on the side of the street, wasnt gonna put it on goodreads out of pride, but the desire to hit my reading goal won out. Not really sure what to say otherwise, kind of defies ratings
“Their Impossible Amish Match” by Jocelyn McClay takes us back to the residents of Miller’s Creek.
Schoolteacher Grace Kauffman needs a job to stay in Miller’s Creek for the summer or go back home where her mother is waiting to marry her off. Peter Lehman needs a nanny to watch over his daughters when his sister-in-law is unable to help. Both Grace and Peter have trust issues, being made to look foolish hurts more than the heart, but overcoming a hurdle to their own love story seems impossible.
Full of heart and humor, “Their Impossible Amish Match” will have you pulling for Peter and Grace to find their happily-ever-after.
Once again we pay a visit to the good folks of Miller’s Creek. This heartwarming series has become a favorite of mine.

Their Impossible Amish Match by Jocelyn McClay An Uplifting Inspirational Romance Could a summer job Lead to a lifetime of happiness? To protect herself from her mother’s matchmaking schemes back home, schoolteacher Grace Kauffman desperately needs a summer job. When she hears through the grapevine that Peter Lehman is searching for a nanny for his two young daughters, she thinks they’re a perfect match. There’s no danger of romance under his roof…because he’s still married to the wife who left him for an Englischer. But as Grace spends time with Peter and his girls, she realizes that she might be at risk of losing her heart to them all… This is Grace Kauffman and parent's story. This is Peter Lehmann, wife Lucetta and two daughter Malinda and Fannie's story. Grace Kauffman kept her expression composed as she dropped her gaze to her lap. Hopefully no one in the airy barn would realize her mind was far from the second sermon of the day. Her thoughts instead were focused on the letter on her kitchen counter, the one from her mamm. The letter asking her to come home to Iowa. Grace grimaced. She taught the niceties of letter writing to her students. Even the ones still laboriously printing in block letters would’ve recognized the nuance. Her mother’s missive wasn’t asking her to come home. It was telling her to. He was married, yet he had no wife. Or at least, not one that wanted him. Or their daughters. Or even their lifestyle. Peter Lehman’s troubled gaze softened when it rested on Malinda and Fannie—still surprisingly neat in their Sunday dresses and aprons—where they were tucked in on either side of their aunt Lydia on the opposing benches that lined the center of the clean-swept barn. Though he worried about his little girls, they were his greatest joy. Tipping his head back, Peter drew in a deep breath. His lips curved at the scent of hay from the overhead lofts and the subtle aroma of the four-legged residents that normally inhabited the cavernous building. I recommend this book. Their Impossible Amish Match by Jocelyn McClay is a 5 star book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions shared here in this review are my own. I am looking forward to reading more books by Jocelyn McClay.
Their Impossible Amish Match is a very touching story of forbidden love and second chances. Peter's wife left him, their daughters, and the Amish community. Grace is a school teacher in the Amish community who agrees to be a nanny to Peter's two girls during the summer break. Spending time together makes them feel like a family, especially with the growing attraction between Peter and Grace. Is there any possible way they can become a real family or will they have to deny their feelings forever?
The back-story of what happened with Peter's estranged wife is emotion-packed, especially since it involves two little girls. This part is handled with tact and care which keeps it from being overwhelming. The story is interesting and enjoyable. The ending is surprising but very satisfying. I definitely recommend reading this book. I received an advance copy to read and all opinions expressed are mine alone.
Author Jocelyn McClay has quickly become a favorite of mine, and I love that in Their Impossible Amish Match she takes us back to Miller’s Creek. It’s a wonderful community that I would love to visit.
We meet Grace, who needs to earn money for the summer that is desperately needed. And we meet Peter, who needs a nanny because his wife has run off. Grace’s mother is trying to marry her off, and Peter is unable to move on because his wife has jumped the fence. It’s so complicated, and to top it off, both carry hurts.
Full of humor and faith, along with two adorable girls, can there possibly be a happily ever after for these two? I highly recommend reading it!
I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.
Author Jocelyn McClay continues to improve her craft! The first sentence caught my attention! "He was married, yet he had no wife." You will love joining the Amish schoolteacher Grace Kauffman as she spends her summer caring for the two young daughters of Peter Lehman who has been deserted by his wife! You know Peter and Grace are falling in love but what can come of it! After all, they are Amish! Their Impossible Amish Match has a surprise ending that you won't want to miss! I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. This is my honest opinion.
Their Impossible Amish Match by Jocelyn McClay sinks us into Amish life and rules.
Grace is a wonderful, kind, and giving character. She isn't a pushover, though. McClay gave Grace a good voice, a reason to stay and not go back to Iowa, where her family lives. She is the reason to read this book.
Peter is a character who struggles, and readers struggle to like him. He's had a rough situation, but he is judgmental for no real reason. He weighs the story down. I wish he could have been kinder to Grace because she didn't deserve his first impression.
4.5 Stars! Jocelyn McClay is a must read author for me and this book did not disappoint. It was an unconventional love story as Peter is married for most of the book so it was hard to cheer for he and Grace to get together. I loved Grace's interaction with Peter's children from the moment she met them. And I kept turning to pages to see how this would end.
I’ve discovered McClay has unique and unusual situations for her heroine and hero to overcome. Grace and Peter’s story is no different.
It was nice to be back in Miller’s Creek with the great story line and characters that both had trust issues due to their past. Peter’s life hasn’t been easy but with Grace’s needing a job to stay in Miller’s Creek, he is put on the spot by his sister and friend. Grace knew there were no chance of romance with his situation but she was determined to provide loving care to his girls. The story is filled with humor, faith, overcoming obstacles and realizing that sometimes the unexpected comes around in an unusual way. I didn’t want to see this story end and look forward to the next installment and what’s happening to all the amazing characters in Miller’s Creek with their love, support and openness to painful situations.
I was honored with an early copy of this book. I have expressed my own thoughts.
