Because... why choose?

Eric and Dane Walker have always done everything together. They live together, work together… fuck together. But they’ve never been in love together.

The moment the Walker brothers meet Emily Berringer, they know she’s the one. Smart, sexy and adventurous, she is impossible to resist. So when she accidently stumbles into the illegal drag racing club they’re investigating, it doesn’t take long for her skills behind the wheel, and her soft curvy body, to attract the attention of the sadistic sonofabitch who runs the race and takes what—and who—he wants.

Recruiting Emily into the mission was never the plan, but now she’s here, Eric and Dane are determined to protect her using any means necessary, even posing as her pit crew, bodyguards… and lovers.

But when the lines blur between pretend and professional, it won’t just be her heart they risk losing.

The Drag Race Debutante is original, entertaining, sexy, fun. Emily, slightly reckless when she thought Eric and Dane had lost interest in her, made a few poor choices that jeopardized Eric and Dane’s undercover operation. And things just get more interesting from there. I enjoyed this book by Jennie Kew, and look forward to her next release.

Eric and Dane are undercover police officers trying to take down an illegal racing ring run by Shane. Their mission has kept them away from Emily for months, so she assumes they moved on and agrees to a date with Matt, Shane’s brother. When she accidentally gets caught in the middle of the operation, the brothers step in, and soon Shane takes an interest in her, leading Emily into an unexpected race.

This was such a fun and fast read. The short timeline works well because the characters already share a year of history, so nothing feels rushed. I really liked how different Eric and Dane are. Dane is playful and flirty while Eric is intense and protective. Emily is sweet, bold, and a little insecure, and I had a lot of fun reading how the brothers help her grow. Their chemistry is strong and the whole story moves with great momentum.

Emily completely won me over. She is messy, brave, emotional, and so real. And the dynamic between her, Eric, and Dane is amazing. The “Why Choose” romance is handled in a way that feels fun, emotional, and believable. The racing scenes were pure adrenaline, and I found myself speeding through the pages.

Racing into their hearts

The Drag Race Debutante and The Detectives is the third book in The Brisbane Bachelors series. This RH romance is a nice addition to an entertaining series. Emily Berringer is irresistible to twins Eric and Dane Walker as soon as they see her. They know then need to have her but will she be adventurous enough for these two, both in and out of the bedroom.

Three.

Soon to be all in the extended family, Eric and Dane are super interested in Emily Derringer. She’s a roller derby gal who is down for sharing. Fun and steamy.

I did not know I needed a small town Australian drag racing reverse harem in my life until this book landed in my hands, and now I genuinely cannot imagine my reading life without it. What a ride — and I mean that both literally and figuratively.
First off, the Australian setting is such a refreshing change of pace. So much of the small town romance genre is very predictably American, so having this one set in Australia gives it a completely different flavour and energy that honestly makes it stand out immediately. The atmosphere feels authentic and lived-in, and it adds a lot of charm to the whole story.
The characters are genuinely well developed — which, for a shorter read, is impressive. You actually care about these people. The female lead holds her own in a world of fast cars and faster men, and the love interests each have their own distinct personality rather than blending into one generic brooding guy. The dynamics between them all feel real and the romance builds in a way that makes the why-choose element feel completely natural rather than just a gimmick.
And the plot! Genuinely intriguing. The drag racing backdrop gives the story real stakes and momentum beyond just the romance, and it keeps you turning pages even when things aren't heating up between the characters.
Spicy, satisfying, fully resolved ending — and short enough to devour in one sitting. Absolutely loved it.

Wow… okay, this book hit me in ways I didn’t expect 😅. Emily is bold, messy, and so real.
I loved every chaotic, brave, slightly reckless thing about her 💕. And Eric and Dane? The chemistry between these three is EVERYTHING 🔥. I mean, the tension, the passion, the little quiet moments… my heart couldn’t handle it 😍.

I’m obsessed with how the “Why Choose” romance is handled. It’s messy, emotional, fun, and actually makes sense: no awkward love triangles, just love in all its chaotic, swoony glory 💖. And the drag race scenes? Total adrenaline. I was literally turning pages faster just to see what would happen next.

That said… not everything worked. Some side characters felt flat, like they existed just to fill space. And a few plot twists were predictable… I saw some coming from a mile away. Even so, I didn’t care. The main trio carried the story so hard that I kept reading anyway. Although sometimes the writing felt a bit too direct, and I wanted more subtle moments, maybe more depth in certain scenes.

But honestly? I laughed, I swooned, my heart broke a little 💔, and then it healed again. This book is unapologetically fun, messy, romantic, and intense; exactly what I didn’t know I needed. Would I recommend it? 100% yes. If you love steamy, emotional, slightly chaotic romances that make your heart race, this is it

Eric and Dane are brothers and police officers currently working undercover bring down an illegal car racing club run by Shane. They have history with Emily but due to their undercover work they haven’t seen her in a few months. Emily, unaware of the undercover work, thinks they’ve moved on and agrees to go out for a date with Matt, Shane’s brother. When she inadvertently places herself in danger during their operation, they step in to protect her, however Shane takes an interest in her and Emily ends up agreeing to race against him.

This was a fun short read, the events take place over a very short period of time, however the main characters have over a year of relationship build up which is referenced frequently so it doesn’t feel too instalove. Dane and Eric and gorgeous and protective, Dane is more flirty and light where Eric is protective and dominant, Emily is sweet and sassy but with some insecurities the brothers help her overcome. It was a fun storyline with great chemistry between the characters, really enjoyed.

4.25 stars. This novella is triple POV, well written and edited, and a fast-paced, spicy, in-laws to more, contemporary erotic romance between Emily, the female car specialist and race car driver lead, and Eric and Dane, the male cop leads, who are Emily’s sister-in-law’s brothers. I enjoyed the way emotional and mental health issues were actively addressed, even though the story was relatively short and fast-paced. I enjoyed Emily’s confidence and sass. I enjoyed Eric’s cool dominance and Dane’s more relaxed approach to life, whilst they still executed their duties. I enjoyed the spicy intimate moments and Emily’s enjoyment of what the men were offering. I enjoyed the non-romance plot. I enjoyed the family engagement and support and the fun that they had together.

This is a charming, feel-good read with just enough drama to keep things interesting.

Emily is a strong and endearing heroine, even while wrestling with her own insecurities about her body and her occasionally reckless streak. That vulnerability makes her feel real and easy to root for.

Eric and Dane couldn’t be more different in personality, yet they work seamlessly as a team. Both are fiercely protective of Emily in their own ways, and their dynamic adds warmth and balance to the story. I especially appreciated that the relationship has over a year of buildup referenced throughout, which keeps it from feeling rushed or like instant love.

Cute, heartfelt, and engaging, this one blends light suspense with steady relationship development in a really satisfying way.

This just drops you straight into the story. Emily has already gone places with Eric & Dane. Because of that, there’s no real connection between the reader and the characters.
Emily works at a family car dealership. Eric & Dane are cops who are under cover. They are investigating street racing and cross paths with Emily - who is on a date. And apparently they had gone forward with Emily but disappeared when they took on the undercover role. Gah!!! And so when she suddenly shows up at their sting while on a date, they flip out. This is the opening scene. And since the reader hasn’t been involved in them connecting, it’s like we’ve joined in at the 3rd act and we are meant to be onboard. But all I felt was yawn, no connection with the drama.
And don’t get me started on 2 blood brothers being so close they share a female. I can excuse twins, but these 2 just seems ick.

The Drag Race Debutante and The Detectives is a well-written story that really captured my attention from the start. This steamy, why-choose romance had page-turning action, some intrigue, spicy interactions, and heart. Emily is a feisty, determined, intelligent character who does evolve as does her relationship with Eric and Dane Walker. This protective duo continues to support and shield Emily as surrounding circumstances potentially could harm her and as they continue in their relationship. The Drag Race Debutante and The Detectives is Book 3 of The Brisbane Bachelors Series.

Book 3 of The Brisbane Bachelors Series. Can be read as a standalone.

'But when the lines blur between pretend and professional, it won’t just be her heart they risk losing.'

The characters drove the storyline and they were so very appealing and likeable and perfectly steamy together. Plot was intriguing and exciting and well paced. World building was excellent and solidly drawn. All in all a great addition to the series. Enjoyed immensely and highly recommend!

The Drag Racing Debutante and the Detectives by Jennie Kew is a quick ,short read that leaves you wanting more. Emily is attracted to her brother's future brother-in-laws, Eric and Dane. They have been flirting for the last year but Emily thinks they have lost interest in her. She has some self esteem issues. When Emily runs into them unexpectedly, she finds out they are still interested.
There are some hot scenes and a bit of intrigue.

The Drag Race Debutante and The Detectives is a short, steamy read in the Brisbane Bachelors series, featuring characters related to the MMCs from the previous book. There's very little plot and no real romance, since they are already in love at the beginning, just hadn't acted on it yet. I adored this book and pretty much read it on one sitting. Start to finish it is everything I wanted it to be. I am also convinced I want to be Emily in another life! So good!

PS I know nothing about street racing that did not come from Fast and The Furious so suspension of disbelief at anything possibly implausible is advised. Again, loved it!

This is a fun why choose story with Emily and the two brothers who are detectives on a case, Dane and Eric. A little mystery, a lot of steam, lots of love, and a HEA for the three make this a fun read.

This was a fun read. The setting is new to me and I enjoyed it. And I liked how well the characters meshed. They had their own, well defined personalities, but played off each other very well. And the relationship and romance felt real.
