A tense verse fiction murder mystery by Alicia Lloyd.
Carla is dead. Who killed her? All is left to question. The suspects are three friends… Duffy, Harrison and Fletcher. They’re trapped inside the house with a police officer, who is determined to solve the case.
The friends each suspect one another in this game of cat and mouse… but who committed the crime, and for what reason?
I loved this book! It was a bit strange at first, but it got SO much better so quickly!
Either Duffy, Harrison or Fletcher killed their friend Carla Davey. But it is just a matter of which one of them did it. With people’s lives on the line, all of them need to prove they didn’t do it, or confess. In an amazing novel of thrill and horror, who killed Carla Davey and why?
I loved this book! It was so fast paced, and it was so intense and quick! I basically read it in one sitting, and it took me about half an hour to read, which is just amazing as I don’t think a book has ever taken me that long to read before (except from some graphic novels and World Book Day Books). I love Alicia’s writing, as it is just so thrilling and exciting. I cannot wait to read more of her work
A stunningly written who done it by Alicia! Written in prose, allowing the author to use her delicious descriptions of the world she created and the characters within it. Without a doubt this style of writing is 100% Alicia’s strong point. The tale is deceiving, daring you to guess from the very start who you think committed the ultimate crime. Another fabulous book from such a talented young lady!
I went through this book so quickly it’s ridiculous. Read in one hour, and I adored the characters, so well developed and written so beautifully, so thrilling and mysterious definitely lives up to the genre. Hadn’t read verse fiction before Alicia’s and I’m definitely going to read more because of her, so I’d recommend this as a great introduction to that!
I think this is Alicia's most underrated book, it's the book from what I gather is her least talked about on social media but I truly believe it needs more credit.
It was suspenseful, well written, well plotted and had multiple twists, short but fast yet slow in the best way. Definitely a must read in this genre.
I’ve never read a book quite like this one and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Alicia has such a good idea in this novella and it really made the book easy and also fun to follow. I would really like to see more of this style from Alicia in the future
Brilliantly fast paced! I loved this style of murder mystery because it kept me interested and intrigued. A fantastic read. Alicia Lloyd is definitely one to watch in the future!
This book, like Murder Board by Miss Lloyd, was a fast paced thrilling read with many twists and turns and great well developed characters.
The format of poetry really added a stylistic edge that I overall enjoyed and would love to see more of in the industry.
I haven’t read anything like this book before and this verse novella was certainly enjoyable and the writing was impeccable. Another underrated piece by Lloyd.
Murder mystery, short read, multiple point of views, everybody has a motive, but who is the real killer? We also get the point of view of the dead girl. I love the fact that she brought in inclusivity of the LGBTQIA community without it feeling forced! I would recommend it to anyone who likes these types of books! 📚
I created this account purely to review this authors work as I found her on social media and thoughts it would help, and now I have finished all of her books I can now say that she is an extraordinary writer especially for her age. I loved the plot of this book, the subtle but powerful LGBT rep and the writing. Throughly enjoyed needs more hype.
This is a fast pace novella with great characters and true crime feeling. We also get unique points of view like from the victims eyes that I felt really pulled the book togther. This author has alot of promise and I enjoy her books
A Race against death is a verse murder mystery which had my gripped from the prologue right to the very end. Alicia has a talent for holding you captive within her words. I read this in one sitting which for me is pretty good. Another one of Alicia’s books that I definitely recommend
meh, this was lowkey boring it was fast and quick paced, tho I didn't really care about any of the characters I did think it was too short to think of much but I did think the plot was very obvious
I really enjoyed this book. It was a fast paced, twisty physiological thriller. It kept you guessing until the end and kept you on your toes.
I loved the poem writing style, it’s something I’ve not seen before except for in poetry books and I think it gave the story a more ‘who done it’ vibe.
I will be reading from Alicia again, her books so far have been really good and I recommend them.
