The audiobook trigger Warnings focused heavily on the SA in the book but completely omitted the suicide attempt/planning.

Can Ardor Overcome Agony?
Shadowed Past is the newest offering from best-selling author Evangeline Anderson. The subtitle is The Twisted System 1, so I imagine we’ll be reading other novels from this 3-planet system. I don’t often stay up until 2:30 A.M. to read a novel, but this one captivated me.
First, we learn the Warrior Location Agency is on the Kindred Mother Ship. Its purpose is to locate Kindred warriors who have been kidnapped or enslaved on other planets. Andi Patterson, from Earth, and Thrax, a Pitch-Blood Kindred Hybrid, are one such team. They are asked to locate a missing warrior who is probably on one of the three planets in the Twisted System, Salacious Delta, which has extreme sexual practices. Males from other locations are kidnapped and enslaved on a Milking Farm.
Andi and Thrax arrive on this planet where Andi must learn how to be dominate and Alpha Thrax has to be subordinate. Their plans seem to be on track until Thrax’s hidden past comes out. That causes Thrax to lose himself, and Andi must improvise a way to get the enslaved Kindred and Thrax away from the planet. Then she must try to bring Thrax back to himself. If she cannot, Thrax will remain a prisoner of his past for the rest of his life.
Since he is so buried in his own past, a good possibility is that Andi will fail to recover his present. Can her love and ardor overcome the agony of his past? That’s why I was up at 2:30 to see what happens!

Andi and Thrax are partners in a new unit put together by Commander Sylvan. They he!p to rescued kindred Warriors that have gone missing by fair means or foul. Over the last several years they've become more than partners they've become best friends. Each if them secretly desires more but doesn't want to ruin what they have. Both also have baggage in their pasts. Andi a broken marriage and a chi!d and Thrax, has Avery traumatizing past that hurt him deeply as a teen and that he carries with him on the inside. The mission they are sent on triggers all his most horrible memories, not only that he ends up having to confront the originator of his past trauma before they both can rescued a fellow Warrior and get back to safety. Both and Andi and Thrax will have to look deep within themselves and open up to each other. Love and forgiveness is the only way both of them will survive. I don't want to give any more details but be warned Thrax truly suffered as a teen. Well worth the read and it makes you realise we all need love and forgiveness💖🌟🔥🌟💖🔥💖🌟🔥💖

This was a captivating read, the first book in this series that I thoroughly enjoyed
This was a riveting read and I guarantee that other readers will be as totally captivated by this wonderful series and the characters that have been so beautifully written will hold you riveted between the pages.
Thrax and Andi are both Agents in the Warrior Location Agency a post of importance as they are used to search for missing, lost or taken Kindred and the using all the skills they have learned they return the missing back to their families and loved ones,
The mission they are working on is on majorly important and the men that are captured on Thrax and this has been a difficult thing to deal with.
This is a riveting read and I guarantee that you will be totally engrossed with these characters and story it was simply wonderful reading.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.

I absolutely loved Thrax and Andi's relationship in this book!
He always had her back, supported her through hard times and loved her from a distance.
She admired him , appreciated his friendship and support and loved him as more than a partner, certain that no more would develope between them.
The mission they went on and the people they met were creepy as all get out. It made me cringe at how the men were treated and the description of the food was, well it was disgusting.
What made their mission amazing was what was accomplished and how they finally had the sexy time they both craved.
This story was creepy sexy, cringy and very satisfying in how certain "creatures " were handled.
I am looking forward to the next book. I have my fingers crossed that the person they went to save on their mission, gets his HEA in one of the future books.

Thrax, oh my dear male Thrax. My heart ached for him through most of this book. He had been @bused and traumatized when he was younger but had never sought help or talked about it again. Now this new mission he and Andi are on is bringing it all up, and he doesn’t know how to handle it. I loved him, for how strong he was-even if he didn’t believe it about himself. I loved Andi for how amazing she was. She had gone through hard things too and was strong from her things. These two characters were so beautiful together. The caring, the camaraderie, the connection you feel between them was genuine. And it made for a beautiful story and healing for both. Definitely recommend, just maybe not for everyone. It has harder themes to this story and some spicy, spicy scenes that are not everyone’s cup of tea. But I loved it and loved these two characters.

The author has brought us another unique and adventurous Kindred story. This is the first in a new series of the Twisted System. This story brings us to one of the planets in the system. A planet where woman rule and men are treated as objects. There are some similarities to the Yonnie Six planet we have read about in other stories but this planet treats their males more like pets that are there for their pleasure. For Thrax and Andi the planet is still dangerous. Can these two partners complete their mission or will this strange planet take them? The story may have some triggers as it does have some dark moments. Expect adventure, danger and of course heat.

This story touches on trauma both present and past memories. Evil it seems is global and beyond.

Evangeline has truly outdid herself with this book. She took a traumatic experience and gave it not only a voice but healing. People sometimes forget that men can also be victims of SA. She did such a fantastic job with the male representation in the story. She gave our couple a HEA. She had her female character be a strong female character who had a hard time letting her partner in because of the way her marriage ended, but only she was strong enough to help Thrax out when he needed someone the most.

I was shook by this book. It needs a tag at the beginning for suicidal thoughts along with the mentioned sexual assault and abuse though.
This was one intense book. I felt it portrayed a lot of touchy subjects quite well.
Shame, guilt, helplessness, feeling broken and depressed, sex slaves and ass play to name a few.
I wanted to go straight Super Saiyan several times on queen itchy panties and mistress stoneheart .
The ending felt rushed and didn't fully address Thrax's traumas imo. specifically the ones about murder and the CNC. It was like a huge build up to an amazing healing and then a cheesy let down.

Overcome by the emotional depth of recognizing and coming to terms with what was previously forgotten, this book goes deep to explore what can and cannot be accepted when all you believe comes into question.
Thrax and Andi have each lived through trauma, but it sometimes takes extreme actions to reset and move forward.
Loved this Kindred Tale as it sends strong healing vibes and is the ultimate feel-good, do anything for love story.
Truly a must read!

I really enjoyed this book. This story touches on trauma both present and past. Sometimes it takes extreme action to reset and move forwards. So be prepared to experience all kinds of emotions while reading this. As always another fantastic kindred read. So looking forward for the next book in this great new series. Enjoyed it
Having read all the past kindred tales , I am astounded that this author manages to come up with a different twist for every single book, even when she uses the same world as a backdrop. Both the FMC and the MMC, who were already friends, managed to learn more about each other and understand each other's past and be there for one another. Of course there's the hot sex, but that's a given.

What an amazing story from this author. Absolutely loved this book and I would highly recommend it. I love how this author is able to transport you into a new world while you are reading her stories ❤️❤️❤️ I love the escape from reality.

Hooked on Kindred
Okay, I've read several of the Kindred books, and now I want to read them all. There is so much variety between the stories that it's not like reading the same old romance novels over and over again. I guess I'll have to take out a loan to buy them all. Evangeline Anderson is an amazing writer. Thank you.

Another great book
I love Angeline’s books. This story kept me mesmerized and wanting more; it was hard to put down. It had its similarities to previous books, but also had its differences. Can’t wait until it comes to audiobooks!

This story deals with a MMC that has a traumatic past. I'd advise reading the author note before buying if darker themes aren't for you. Outside of that so much sexy time toward the end and it is VERY HOT.

So excited for another parallel system, can't wait to see what happens in the rest of the Twisted System. Absolutely LOVE the way that Evangeline writes these books, so many places left to find and new Kindred to meet. Will the next one we meet be a Hybrid, they are just stubborn warriors that are doing what everyone wants.....to find their fated mate. Glad that I found mine.
