I was born into danger, raised by violence and running ever since. It was only a selfless act of kindness from my best friend that saved my life, but the price was losing him forever. And this time, he isn’t here to save me.
I’ve spent my life hiding from the ghosts of my past. Clawing my way from nothing to graduating and landing my dream job. A senior security analyst with one of the largest financial firms in the city.
So I took the leap. I let myself believe that everything had finally changed. That the man I allowed myself to trust, my boss, saw something in me nobody else did.
I was wrong. Dead wrong.
But it’s too late. And now a threat has wound it’s cold fingers tightly around my throat.
But there’s someone that’s been watching. A shadow. My neighbor Harvey Ransom—former Special Forces and current owner of Four Forces Security.
He looks at me with a carnal hunger that sends a sizzle of danger across my skin. His need to protect me possessing him, taking control of any rational thought.
What started as a passing glance in the hallway has now turned into something that’s spiraling out of control. Something that has the potential to unearth secrets that would destroy everything.
We’ve spent our lives trying to atone for our past. Burying ghosts that refuse to stay buried. To right wrongs that can’t be undone.
But what if, instead of running from the danger this time, I embrace it. What I become the danger. What if we become the danger.
The Shadow is a morally gray steamy, alpha military romance with themes of fake boyfriend and overly protective bodyguard.

This is a well written book with strong characters in Harvey and Aspen. The author does a great job developing the story and pulled me, in keeping me turning the pages as she takes you into their lives with chemistry and steam, drama and danger and plenty of action. She moves the story fluidly with her descriptive scenes and delivers a terrific read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and are freely given.
A great story that was very well written and with amazing characters, Harvey and Aspen, his book had so many twists and turns and a very intriguing and captivating story. I could not put this book down as the chemistry between Aspen and Harvey and the drama that unfolded had me completely hooked. This is book four in this series and I am very sad to say goodbye to all these characters.
I received an arc copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This was pretty good, I wasn't a hug fan of the Guardian the last book and was hoping this one would be better and it was. Not amazing but better. I was reading another book while reading this one and that just pointed out how jilted this one read in comparison.
Light spoilers maybe:
First they agree to be in a pretend relationship or he suggests it and she's confused. She seems confused for most of the book about what exactly she wants. He seems hooked on her. The pretend relationship never happens because he's never pretending and she as I said is confused. Doesn't ever ask him what's going on or what the plan is and then all of a sudden they are dating and super serious. I enjoyed how she came up with her own plan to fix her own issues. But a lot of the behind the scenes work seemed farfetched and un researched. Or was explained poorly. I understand recording the keystrokes but not about how she found the bosses crypto wallet and passwords for things. I never read that she hacked him straight up, just that she recorded herself doing the shady thing he wanted her to do. And then there was the mystery of what actually happened between her and her boss, she never fully explained that, was she raped, was she assaulted, she thinks she was drugged, lots of questions about that, and Harvey just seems to let it go as far as getting the whole truth from her.
My other main issue with this book is the blurb that I read saying what it was about. The best friend that is mentioned is only brought up in the book past the half way mark and really has nothing to do with anything. He's never contacted and maybe has 3 sentences in the whole book. So why is he in the blurb, made me think the book was about something that it wasn't. The other thing that is mentioned that throws off what the book is about is that the threat has its cold fingers around her throat. Whether the boss choked her or not we'll never know because she never fully explains what happens when they are alone, but at most he threatens her with jail time, not death.
Just a lot a lot of little things that made it really hard to get through. But it wasn't terrible.

The Shadowby author Alexis Winter is book 4 fromFour Forces Securityseries. This interconnected Standalone has us following Four Forces Security member Harvey Ransom and Aspen Wilder in a Fake Boyfriend, Contemporary Romance through dual POVs.
Harvey and Aspen’s story had us riding through a plethora of emotions, hitting on the lighter side from the happy, sweet and cute moments. And the heavier side given the deeper emotions of pain, hurt, trauma and anguish. All courtesy of the journey that the two found themselves travelling upon. Particularly Aspen, who faced and endured suffering with the emotional and physical pain, something you learn about along the way of the story.
Given the plot toThe Shadow, author Alexis managed in delivering a story that flowed through. Resulting in having you continually turning the pages seeing the narrative made up of drama, mystery, secrets and lies, suspense and romance leading to some spicy steam develop onwards. Whilst also presenting a thorough character development that had us seeing the changes and growth of both Harvey and Aspen in their own ways, given their personal lives with how they lived and their jobs. As well as similarly from some similarities they shared given their past. Ultimately allowing us to dive into an in-depth exploration of the two along the way, including the blossoming of their relationship given their growing chemistry.
Unfortunately the ending was a bit of a letdown for me, although it was mostly due to the climax. From all the suspenseful build up author Alexis presented as gearing towards the showdown, it had me expecting something major and explosive considering the importance that particular subplot played in the overall storyline. However what was delivered was not at all what she had me expecting, seeing as it was over before it even truly began with there not being anything to it either. On top of that the way the book ended didn't work IMO given the final chapter. That particular chapter should've been moved earlier with being closer towards the climax since it would’ve worked better that way in allowing the explosion that was missing with the showdown IMO. But also because it took away from the typical HEA ending inThe Shadow.
In the end, aside from the letdown,The Shadowby author Alexis Winter was still enjoyable with making for a good read. But then again that’s no surprise since when it comes to reading Alexis’s books, she always come through in creating a pleasant read. Which is what Harvey and Aspen's story delivered.
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I think the way Harvey was described in this book – a big, intimidating, tattooed bad boy – was about the only thing that fit with the expectations I had of this story. Oh, and the way he dealt with Connor, but I’ll get to that in a minute. The rest of this didn’t make much sense. Aspen has a one-night stand with Connor, her boss, and then he blackmailed her with video evidence of their fling. So, what if she slept with him, she’s not the only woman to have an affair with a married man and how would it have ruined her reputation? And why would Connor give her a copy of a video that incriminated him as well, not to mention provide perfect evidence of his misdeeds for his wife in their divorce proceedings. Harvey returns from a sabbatical and immediately knows something is wrong, yet he’s only met Aspen a few times, so how would he know? For such an intelligent woman with amazing computer skills, I was surprised it took Aspen so long to come up with her plan. In fact, I thought she could have done a lot more damage. It was great to see her transform from a doormat to a fiery warrior with vengeance on her mind though. The spark between her and Harvey seemed to come out of the blue, but their similar backgrounds and the fact they had know each other casually through mutual friends gave the idea credibility. As they grew closer, I loved how Harvey understood her need to do things on her own, offering his support, but not interfering in her plan. As to the Shadow of the title. Sadly, Harvey’s defining skill only made an appearance in one chapter, which should probably have appeared much earlier in the book or at least led to a much more explosive climax. It didn’t really work as a flashback because we already knew what had happened. So, in summary, while I like the relationship between Harvey and Aspen, the rest of the story didn’t do it for me, so I’d probably rate this fifty/fifty. This is a standalone book but if you haven't read the previous three books in this series I would urge reading them to get a good feel for this incredible team. Aspen Wilder is a security analyst, a job that she should be very happy with, her CEO is every girl's dream. good looking, super wealthy.........but he isn't, underneath he is a sleezy money grabbing social climber with a dubious past and he is blackmailing Aspen. Harvey Ransom and his three military buddies, Alex, Jameson and Luka had set up a security company, Four Forces Security, Harvey is the only one still single despite the teasing from his team and their wives. Aspen is friends with Alex's wife, Blair, so she and Harvey have met socially, she also happens to be his next door neighbour. When Harvey saw a suspicious looking man entering Aspen's apartment his military gut feeling came into play, something was wrong, Aspen looked scared. When Harvey meets the man who had paid his team top dollar for twenty four hour protection he is on high alert, it was the man that he saw at Aspen's apartment. As this story unfolds, ruggedly handsome but scary looking Harvey is attracted to shy, timid Aspen and he is determined to protect her, they had both had a difficult childhood but with Harvey's help and encouragement Aspen had blossomed. It soon becomes clear that the plot is much thicker than they thought and their opponents were high hitters with friends in high places but Harvey had his loyal team behind him and he had fallen hook, line and sinker for the beautiful analyst, their chemistry was combustive, nothing would harm her. Another great story from Alexis Winter. I received a free copy of this book and my review is voluntary.
The Shadow is the 4th book in the Four Forces Security series. It can be read as a standalone but you come across the other characters from the other 3 books in here and so you will get a better feel for the other characters by reading the other 3 previous books. I thoroughly recommend them. The Shadow features Harvey and Aspen, they have the same circle of friends but are not really friendly with each other. Harvey works for Four Fources security firm with his ex military friends doing security jobs for high-powered people. Aspen is a tech expert and thinks she landed herself a dream job, until her boss Connor turns into the worst boss. He blackmails her into shifting money so it can go unnoticed. Connor goes to Four Forces looking for protection from his soon to be ex wife and the guys take on the job. It quickly becomes apparent that there is more to the situation than meets the eye. Aspen and Harvey are neighbours, he sees Aspen with Connor and notices she looks scared. As Harvey and the team are working for Connor they discover his secrets, then Harvey becomes aware of whats going on with Connor and Aspen. They become closer and Harvey swears to protect Aspen no matter what.
The Shadow is another fantastic story in the series. Aspen and Harvey are so hot together. I love how its like peeling the layers back on both of their characters after their past histories to see the people they become as time goes on. I love Harvey and how once he loves, he's all in and the protection he provided for Aspen was amazing. Another great story, definitely recommend.

I love Alexis Winter's writing and this book does not disappoint! Harvey, part owner of four forces security, finds he has a life that he has not felt is what he has wanted for awhile. When he sees his elusive neighbour, Aspen, he becomes concerned for her as it looks like something is wrong. He feels a need to offer her help. Seeing Aspen with another man, Connor, her boss, he notices she looks uncomfortable in his presence. He decides he needs to do something and tries vainly to get Aspen to talk about what is bothering her. When Connor needs Four Forces Security to help protect him from his ex whilst going through a messy divorce, Harvey takes a leap of faith and tries once again to get Aspen to open up. Loved the chemistry between Harvey and Aspen that is off the charts hot!! Who wouldn't love to have a Harvey in their lives...He is definitely on my book boyfriend list!! Follow Aspen's journey as she tries to get away from her boss whilst trying to keep her life and career intact. When Harvey suggests that they should pretend to be in a relationship, to get back at Connor, Aspen agrees, but unsure where it will lead! Its a great story with lots of plot twists and hot sexy scenes to keep you vested as they navigate their way to their HEA. Another worthy 5 star read!.

It's finally time for the last man standing in the Four Forces Security to fall.
The Shadow is the fourth book in the Four Forces Security series by Alexis Winter and I do always love to suggest reading an interconnected series in order- but admittedly its been a while since I read the other 3 books so the details weren't fresh and I can say that this can hold well as a stand alone.
Harvey Ransom and Aspen Wilder both have pretty tragic pasts- and by all accounts these two don't seem like they would work together but they do. Harvey is brooding and dark while Aspen is meek but also exudes this brightness. Despite both being part of this close friend/colleague group Aspen and Harvey haven't really become more than acquaintances and it isn't until after they become neighbors and Harvey is hired to be the bodyguard for Aspen's boss that they start to really interact more.
This is where things get interesting- Alexis intertwines all these layers together creating this suspense and danger with a side of all this sexy tension that had me hooked. I really liked Aspen and the growth of her character- and while some of that had to do with having Harvey there to support her, she really found this strength inside herself to fight back and stand on her own. When I started this book I would have never thought that it would be Harvey falling first but he does and when he busts out his protective alpha side for her... yes, please.
Harvey and Aspen are the perfect ending to this series!
I loved Avery and Harvey they were so much fun to watch fall in love. Avery is a very guarded person but once you get to know her, she has is very friendly person underneath. She’s a very beautiful person inside and out. Harvey, he is the quintessential, big, gruff, beautiful man, covered in tattoos that you wouldn’t want to be in a dark alley, but once you get past the stereotypes and get to know the person, he is fantastic. They are two people with such damaged personal histories. It takes the two of them to put each other back together. They start their friendship and it starts to blossom the sparks fly, and it’s just so fantastic to witness. It’s like peeling back onion layers. He is so determined to protect her from all the things that mean to do her harm, and the more time they spend together, she becomes this new version of herself and it’s so great. But wow, they have some things to work through but they become stronger on the other side. They have developed this banter between them. That is so sweet and sassy. I love it. But they still have a beautiful love story. They were absolutely meant to be together and I’m so glad they found each other.
The Shadow is book 4 of the Four Forces Security series. You will see a lot of the characters from previous books so you might want to read them to get a feel for the stories, but it is not required in order to follow this story. I will say, I have a bad memory when it comes to details in books and the last one in the series was released almost a year ago so I forgot a lot about the old characters.
This story felt so different from all of the others I have read from Alexis. This intricate story was told with so many different moving pieces. Parts of this were a little bit on the darker side and I loved that. Aspen is the heroine and she has had a pretty rough life starting with childhood but she has made a name for herself as a security analyst. Her boss unfortunately is all kinds of trouble, between the way that he treats her, and the way he treats his wife, he is really set on making everyone’s life difficult. Harvey is an ex military turned bodyguard who is Aspen’s neighbor and now her boss’ bodyguard. The way this story unfolded, I had no clue what was going to happen. There were so many surprises and heart pounding moments.
Aspen Wilder had dinner and drinks with her boss, Connor Blake, to celebrate Aspen’s promotion. Connor brings Aspen home and insinuates that they had a fling. Aspen doesn’t remember anything after dinner and drinks. Connor has been pursuing Aspen ever since and she keeps telling him no. With the promotion, she could afford to move to a new apartment so Connor would not know where she lives.
Harvey Ransom is one of Aspen’s neighbors in the apartment building. They live on the same floor. He is also one of the owners of Four Forces Security with Jameson (Jimmy), Alex and Luka. Aspen is friends with Blair, Harper and Juliette who are with the other guys so she saw Harvey a few weeks ago at a cookout at Jimmy and Blair’s house. Harvey has a crush on Aspen, but his friends don’t know that she is the neighbor he likes.
I was shocked when Connor admitted the real reason he promoted Aspen. I could not believe the web of lies Connor had concocted. I wanted Connor to get what he deserved for being such a jerk. I was rooting for Harvey and Aspen throughout the story.
I loved this series.

This is my first read of the Four Forces Security series so yes, it can be read as a standalone, but I will definitely be going back and reading books 1, 2, and 3 VERY SOON! Aspen's boss gives off creepy vides as he continuously tries to make inappropriate advances toward her, and to make matters worse, she has flashbacks to some vague memories involving him where she can't remember everything. As a member of the Four Forces Security, Harvey isn't excited about their latest job "guarding" Connor, Aspen's boss and when he finds out how creepy he's being his protective instincts kick into high gear. Being Aspen's neighbor has been difficult for Harvey since he knows her from the loose circle of mutual friends. When a fake relationship grows into something permeant, each of them blossom into a new and better version of their single selves but the fact that they are both still in danger from Connor, can keep each other alive so they get their HEA? Now, let me get to reading the first 3 books in this series!.

Terrific final book of the Four Forces Security series. Harvey and Aspen had "known" eachother for years though only peripherally as part of the same social circle (she was friends with his 3 partner's respective wives). It wasn't until she moved into his apartment building that he really started taking notice.
This book is absolutely chalk full of action, drama, steam, and tons of dirty talk (yeah!!). There is an evil lurking, determined to make its mark, irrespective of the ramifications to others, and neither Harvey nor Aspen will willingly stand idly by while it happens. However, Aspen has secrets she's terrified to share. Harvey is not only determined to thwart the evil, but unearth Aspen's secrets in the process. Will he be successful in breaking through her steally wall of distrust? He'sa formidable opponent in size, strength and determination, but Aspen is intelligent and determined. Grab your copy of this book and see how the fourth and final man fares.
I an so greatful for the gift copy of this book!! I missed the first three, but have grabbed them now and will catch up soon. Happy Reading Y'all 📚
I became instantly hooked on this story!!! It was clear that Aspen was dealing with some things and my heart ached for her while the rest of my was livid at how evil someone could be! The more I learned about her, the more I both wanted someone to save her as much as I wanted her to stand up for herself! Thankfully, Harvey was the perfect man for the job!
Harvey definitely had an interesting reaction to Aspen, particularly when he was with his most recent flavor of the minute in that elevator! Definitely got a kick out of that!! I really liked that he noticed the changes in her and was worried about her.
They were very much opposites, but that’s also what made them so perfect! Her almost innocence coupled with his raw desire made for some spectacular chemistry and even more sizzling scenes!
After Jaxson’s name came up several times, I’m very curious about this guy who was super smart and Aspen’s first protector. I’d love to get more on him!.

The next in the Four Forces series and WOW Harvey and Aspen will set your pages on fire. Aspen and Harvey move in the same circle of friends but are not close. Aspen is a tech wiz and has landed herself a dream job. That is until her boss turns into her worst nightmare. Harvey is working security jobs for high powered people, alongside his ex military partners. When Aspen's boss comes to Four Forces looking for protection, it quickly becomes apparent there is more to the situation than he is saying. Aspen and Harvey have become closer and when Harvey discovers her boss is his new client, secrets start to unravel and Harvey swears to protect Aspen no matter what. This another great story in this series. Aspen and Harvey are so hot together, Harvey is full on Alpha and you will want him to protect you. This can be read as a standalone but you will get a better feel for the other characters throughout the book by reading the other 3 previous books.
So if you read my reviews for the rest of the books in this series, you would know that I had a hard time getting into them. But not this one. This book is the best in the series I just absolutely love Harvey and Aspen.
Harvey works for Four Forces security and knows Aspen through the wives of his friends and colleagues, plus he is also Aspens next door neighbor. Anyways Aspen has a not so nice boss and is being blackmailed by him, at the same time the same boss hires Harvey and his team for “protection”, when Harvey finds out that Aspen works for him they get close, like really close he makes it his mission to protect her . Once everything is said and done and they get their HEA, Harvey might also give Aspens boss what he deserves and it was so worth the wait. Such a quick and great read.

This is the first book I have read in this series and I wasn’t lost at all which was great, but now I want to go back and start at the beginning because this was fantastic. Aspen and Harvey know of each other because they share mutual friends, but recently Aspen has piqued Harvey’s attention and he notices she isn’t her usual peppy self. When things in Aspen’s life start to become overwhelming Harvey is great at reading people and he has this need to protect her, if only she will open up and let him in. Aspen’s past has left her a little distrustful yet she is such a sweet and innocent woman that takes her some time to find her inner strength, but with the help of Harvey she finds it and becomes something fierce. The chemistry between them is so good and hot but the way they help each other heal was perfection. The suspense keeps you glued in but the fierce way Harvey loves makes this book EVERYTHING!.
Harvey and Aspen are totally opposites in personality and behavior. They have known each other for a while through mutual friends. They never click until recently after Aspen moves in to the same apartment building as Harvey. Harvey notices quiet Aspen has become skittish and pale. When Harvey’s firm picks up a new client for bodyguard service, Harvey recognizes the new client is the man pushing in Aspen’s apartment and also her boss. The client seems arrogant and slimy. Harvey determines to protect Aspen. As their fake relationship develops into a real deal, Aspen confides in Harvey about the incident and the blackmail from her boss. With Harvey’s support, Aspen finds the courage to use her computer skills to fight back and befriend her boss’ soon-to-be ex-wife. The story starts off pretty dark, then it turns spicy and naughty. Harvey’s reputation as the shadow doesn’t come into play until the end. It all goes well with love and caring close friends.
Shadow (Harvey) is one of the owners of Four Forces Security. He lives next door to Ashley who is a friend of the women married to a couple of the Four Forces Security owners. Shadow has seen her at some of the get-together’s. Lately his head has been filled with Ashley. He doesn’t understand it-why now? She is intriguing, so damn cute, her sweet little giggle. Something is bothering her and I want to help. She has someone blackmailing her, preying upon her naïveté. Ashley has trust issues which makes this more difficult. Will Shadow be able to get her to trust him? Will they get to know each other and trust again. It’s a great read! It’s funny at times and also caring, tender and filled with lusty passion and sexy moments. This book is so good I have already read it again. Great original characters and unique story. It’s good, really good! I hope you will read it!.

Aspen and Harvey are casual aquantances through their friends. When they become neighbours they just glance at each other, until their worlds collide. Aspen has a painful past and thinks no one can love her. When her boss starts to pay her attention she is flattered until everything goes horribly wrong. Harvey is ex-military and one of the owners of four forces security. When his latest assignment ends up involving Aspen he becomes her fake boyfriend. As the mission gets more dangerous and Aspen and Harvey realise they both have painful memories from their pasts their feelings grow for each other. Harvey is very overprotective Aspen. They get to their happily ever after. There are lots of emotions, tears, humour, amazing friendships, steam, romance and a happily ever after. Love Alexis books and cannot wait for her next book. HOT! HOT! HOT! I could not put this book down!! Talk about chemistry and trying to hold it back. Aspen and Harvey is a couple I was rooting for to gain their HEA! Their relationship may not have developed the conventional way; however, it developed non the less. Harvey lived up to his name aka Shadow. His new client kept him in close to the threat to Aspen. It didn't hurt that Harvey and Aspen were also neighbors. There were so many moving pieces to this story, you couldn't help but turn the next page to see where the story would go. Aspen may have started out trying to be invisible; however, her brains came through in the end to help both her and Harvey. I also loved the characters from the other books in the series who made appearances. Once again, Alexis did not disappoint!! You get all the feels from this story. What are you waiting for, get your copy today!!
Great story. I loved reading Aspen & Harvey's story they were perfect for each other even if the didn't realise it themselves. Although they knew each other being part of the same group of friends it was only when he saw her reaction when her boss Mr Blake followed her to her home that he felt protective of her. Aspen was glad to have Harvey looking out for her at home & at work as he was part of the company hired to protect Mr Blake regarding his divorce but when things turned nasty she didn't want to burden him. They both had feelings for each other & also had pasts that brought them together. There are secrets, betrayal, drama, steam, tears & laughter on the journey to a happy ever after for them. I definitely recommend reading this series you'll be hooked.

Oh my!! Loved reading, The Shadow (Four Forces Security) by Alexis Winter because it was a very steamy story about Harvey and Aspen. It didn't start out that way, and Aspen really had a lot on her plate especially with her boss. But as the story progressed, Harvey became more of Aspen's shadow. I loved their chemistry and heat. There were other dramas going on in the background and that really kept me on the edge of my seat. Harvey's character was dark and he was named Shadow by his friends. He really cared for Aspen's character. I liked Aspen's character because she was super smart and dealing with issues at work. I received an ARC of this story and I am voluntarily choosing to leave this review. Highly recommend reading this very steamy story with a bit of drama thrown in there!!!
This was awesome. Harvey and Aspen were such a special couple.
When IT tech, Aspen was being harassed by her boss, she turns to Four Forces security and next door neighbor Harvey for help.
Harvey was definitely alpha but loved without fail. He adored Aspen and could tell there was something wrong in her world. Aspen was a smart woman who was in a tough situation and had no support till now. The emotional journey she went through both personally and in her relationship it was great to see her evolve.
So well done, I've loved this series and the four books have been pure delight and this one was the same. I can't recommend it highly enough.

When Pretending Becomes Real - OMG! The only two things missing to make today perfect whilst reading this book, was a cocktail and a beach or swimming pool. I was hooked on the story from the first page, but by the time I got to chapter three, I was so engrossed in the story that is anyone had tried to disturb me, there was a possibility that I would turn into the Incredible Hulk and destroy everything in my view. I can tell you that this story took me on one heck of a ride and the ending of this book was truly mind blowing. I just want to say well done Alexis Winter on adding another wonderful book to her portfolio. I am looking forward to reading more of her amazing book in the future.

Aspen works cyber security for Blake Connor who is takes advantage of young women in his company then blackmails them to do what he wants but when he tries to blackmail Aspen he did not realize how smart she is and the people she knows in Four Forces Security. Harvey is her neighbor and he is one of the owners of the Four Forces but he has never noticed her as she is small and quiet and he is large and dates six foot models but he as in fact noticed her. When he finds out she has a problem with her boss and her boss has hired his company to protect him they plan to get revenge on him while taking him down and all his money disappears. Loved the suspense and the steamy romance.

These two are just the sweetest and spiciest!! Harvey and Aspen are well worth the read! They socialize in the same friend group but never really looked at each other as more. Until Harvey says he'll play her boyfriend to help her out of a situation with her boss. You just know things were going to happen between the two because of the great chemistry they shared. It was great to read Aspen gain her confidence back and be happy again. The family trauma they went through and when they finally told one another about it, really strengthened and deepened their bond. I was waiting for karma to come around and when she did it was vicious and I loved every part of it!

I loved this story of Harvey and Aspen, Aspen fell in love with her apartment after all the sacrifices just to get there to have a doorman so she moved to the fifteenth floor she feels a little bit safer. Now she is blackmailed she doesn't know what to do or who to trust. Harvey and a few of his ex-military buddies started up a security firm and it took off really quickly. Harvey noticed Aspen they have the same group of friends but her body language tells him a different story when they were in different ways. Their chemistry started over a phone call then that only got hotter the closer they got.

This was a good finale for this series. Harvey is ‘the shadow’. He is known for being in the shadows and a person not being able to see him even when looking at him. Aspen is shy and quiet. These two know each other through their friends and being neighbors. However, they have never really talked. When she needs help, he comes up with a fake relationship that is anything but fake. Aspen wonders if it’s real or fake and doesn’t know what to think. Her problem comes in the form as her boss, who is a slimy piece of crap. Alexis grabbed me in from the beginning and kept me hooked til the end. These two are total opposites, but that makes them perfect for each other. Their connection is tight and Harvey is going to do whatever it takes to protect Aspen. Their chemistry is hot and steamy. I have enjoyed watching these men being brought to their knees by the women who snagged them.
