It brings readers into a mystical world of fairy tales full of magic, the enchanting animal world, a tender mother’s love, and many more. And the colorful illustrations take readers into the fantasy of the animal world on the boundless Mongolian steppe.
This book also provides a special section that explains the specifics of Mongolian nomadic culture, popular festivals, local cuisine, proverbs and other culture specific terms that are mentioned in these fairy tales.
Though I have read another book on Mongolian fairy tales and stories, I had not read or heard these stories before. The language used in the stories is engaging, well written, and interesting for readers of various ages. The stories allow the reader to pull back a part of the curtain of traditional Mongolian culture, which was populated with herdsman, nomads, maidens, warriors, magical beings, animals, and grasslands. The illustrations are very well done and beautiful.
This is the first time I have found and read a Mongolian fairy tale in English. This book is very well written and has beautiful colorful pictures. Happy to read my favorite fairy tales in English. I also found in this book interesting new stories that I didn’t know before. I think this book is suitable for Mongolian children who are learning English.
Pretty good collection of short Mongolian stories, which describes their cultural heritage and relationship with their animals. I liked the pictures and the moral lessons the most.
