Man I thought this would be a boring but slightly fun little new variation to the same old stories, but this is not! I mean I’ve never really read a lot of interactive novels in my life, but with the lovely unique and sometimes horrifying ways that these books like to end their arcs, allows a genius idea like this to truly spawn some amazing things. The story itself was pretty bland and uneventful for a good 40%, but the concept and ways I can see this taking the franchise from here has me beyond stoked.
It was strange reading an interactive novel for the first time in years, but it was really interesting! I liked all the characters, routes, and endings, and getting to see more of the Pizzaplex outside Security Breach, Ruin, and Help Wanted 2 - also outside Tales of the Pizzaplex!!!!!
update (second time): game over again. hopefully, third time's the charm!
update (third time): and it was! finally! i had so much fun reading this. i'll probably read it at least a couple more times...i noticed there's a lot more to explore than i got to see so far.
update (fourth time): another game over.
update (fifth time): got the same ending as before while following a different path. going to try getting the other ending next time!
update (sixth time): and i did get it! i had fun exploring every path and every choice.
I really enjoyed this book! I never expected an interactive ("choose your own adventure") type FNAF book, but here we are - and it does NOT disappoint! I was thrilled about this one, especially since it was free, and read through the various endings fairly quickly due to excitement. The endings were intriguing, some of them a little dark which I loved, and others that left questions unanswered. Honestly, it reminded me of how there are many endings in a lot of the FNAF games - and I love the games, so that made me love this book even more.
I can't wait to read the next stories in the series!! I definitely recommend this to any FNAF fans out there who love these types of interactive novels or who just want to see if there's any lore to be found.
This was fun! I liked the video game-y aspect of this, although it does make the story a bit repetitive with the way you visit all the different attractions. And I know this books is pretty short, but I would have loved to read a bit more about Devon and Ike's brotherly relationship. Because we get some glimpses that show that even though Devon is annoyed with his little brother a lot, he also does care deeply for him, in the end. But maybe I'm also asking too much of this Choose Your Own Adventure novel. If the concept sounds at all interesting to you, I can totally recommend this
This was a pretty fun read and a great way to introduce the community to the format of this upcoming series. There is a enough food for thought in here for lore hunters to chew on while also being a pretty fun story. I would also say that there is only one very graphic bit of horror in one of the endings and the rest of the horror moments are much more mild but overall nothing out of line with the rest of the series and nothing close to some of the other books.
I haven’t read a “choose your own adventure” book in a while, but this was super fun & interactive! I loved the concept of inventory management & how you make your way through the pizzaplex.
I haven’t read the whole thing, but I’ve gotten a lot of fun endings & reached “the end” (maybe haha) and will likely watch other play-throughs online.
For a choose-your-own-adventure this novel was very linear. Every time you try to walk from main path, ends with game over, secrets are hard to miss on and final endings end slightly from each other and dont give much replayablity. Overall, this prologue feels very disappointing and if main story is in the structure alike to this work, i cant really recommend it neither.
Does it have a revolutionary story? No, but it's something that the previous two book lines failed to be: Fun. While in FF and TFTPP I didn't give a damn about the 1987 protagonists, here I was able to get much more invested in the story by being "in the character's shoes"
This interactive novel was great and I personally had a great time. Especially during the Monty Maze section. It gave you a feeling like if you were actually there. Plus, its Five Nights At Freddy's and I'm sucker for anything FNaF related.
I am a big fan of FNAF and it’s cool that we get to see Bonnie alive and Bonnie is my favorite character :) and we get another pig character and that’s cool !
Great interactive novel, I love how it introduces a new animatronic, and gives us some insight on how kids would act around the glamrocks! The book feels alive and is easy to generate what happens in your mind, we get a bit of a hint about Glamrock Bonnie and Monty. Love it. 10/10
