David Suzuki is a Canadian science broadcaster and environmental activist. A long time activist to reverse global climate change, Suzuki co-founded the David Suzuki Foundation in 1990, to work "to find ways for society to live in balance with the natural world that sustains us." The Foundation's priorities are: oceans and sustainable fishing, climate change and clean energy, sustainability, and David Suzuki's Nature Challenge. He also served as a director of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association from 1982-1987.
Although Time to Change was originally published in 1994, the topics of environmental problems still remain current. Over time, people have become more aware of the problems caused by overpopulation, industrialization, the depletion or corruption of natural resources and the impact on flora and fauna, however the problems have not been solved. While some of the experiments mentioned by Suzuki were completed with mixed results, the cause and effects of man's impact on nature and the poor response for funding and political support by government and businesses still remain a problem. Suzuki's inclusion of stories of his past, and trips with his family, makes this a lighter book to read, getting the issues across to the reader, without bogging down the topics with overwhelming statistics and graphs.
