The House of Thran, ever under attack from its ancient enemies, has to fight just to survive. Palace intrigues in Thran and the other Houses threaten the very existence of the one House that is destined to oversee the lands. Wyrms, magic, and the land itself oppose the beleaguered Thrans as they seek to restore what once was and ought to be once again. "Epic and inventive, Emperor has action that will thrill the most battle-hardened, and intrigue that would make a Byzantine court proud! Yet another resounding testament to the superb storytelling craftsmanship of H. David Blalock." -Stephen Zimmer, Author of the Fires in Eden series and Rising Dawn Saga

A continuation of Ascendant, as well as a compilation of the last three books (Hogurn's Del, Kel Saka, and Ultima Thran) - this book is a wonderful expansion and more detailed look at what follows Jarl Thran as he protects his House.
Being an ally to non-humans is not easy, but their loyalty assists Jarl Thran in many ways. Problem is, not all human Houses are as tolerant of the non-humans, and when incidents start to happen an all our war threatens to change the realm of Adlynois. Moreover, Thran appears to be right in the center of it!
His every choice leads the island to its ultimate fate - but what fate will that be?
Personal opinion: though I read the initial self-published books, I found the expansion in Emperor delightful. Granted, there were items in the smaller books that was not in the novel, but there was more in the novel that was not in the smaller books. My favorite characters always manage to be the Telmet, but I have to admit that Gzathisk and the Kel Saka were interesting to read as well.
