Love this series! This is really a story of the Battle of Britain and the author does justice to it. Each book get stronger with each one when published. The historical facts are good as well. Looking forward to Book 8
I started reading these books from no1, from the very beginning these books captured my imagination, I simply could not wait for the next book, the words and descriptions made everything so real. I’ve just reached the end of book 7 and I sincerely hope there is more to come, this is definitely not the last book in the series.
In this latest installment of the Shadows of War series, our protagonist, a young woman from England’s landed gentry, has to deal with traitors among her peers as well as Nazi assassins. And her love interest and brother, both RAF pilots, have their own problems with an over-matched Luftwaffe as the Battle of Britain begins. It’s 1940 and she has already experienced the horrors of Hitler’s blitzkrieg through Europe, only to now face the same threat to her own country. A historically accurate and compelling read, this episode will leave you breathless waiting for the next chapter.
I just love this WWII historic fiction series - sure hope another book is on the horizon because this one ended in a bit of a cliffhanger. Evelyn is back in England and is working to figure out what the documents her father left her are all about. And her love is a Spitfire pilot who is fighting the Nazis in the air every day. And add to that there is a spy trying to find out who she is! It all comes together in this riveting read!
I would give it a 3.5. This is a set up book in my opinion. Something we need leading into the next book/books. It’s not as Norway or France action packed at times I get a little lost with names (and code names). The longer it is between books the hazier some characters and their nicknames get.
