Starting over is never easy but letting her go might prove impossible for this pair.
After disappearing nearly two years ago, Lady Laura Sweet has returned to Ravenswood Palace, home of her estranged husband. The place where she suffered his neglect, as well as emotional and physical abuse at the hands of his late father the duke. Laura has only come home to demand a divorce from her husband, but his brother, the new Duke of Ravenswood, is determined to make things difficult and demands they thrash out the failures of their marriage for his benefit.
Nash Sweet spent years under the thumb of his cruel, evil father. Even in death, the man is proving hard to shake, and Nash is only now discovering all the ways the old duke interfered in his marital affairs. But that doesn’t mean he forgives his wife for abandoning their sons and forsaking their marriage—especially when she returns bearing an infant daughter he knew nothing about! Nash is equally willing to discuss divorce, but with proximity comes the resurrection of old feelings…and perhaps some new ones he was not prepared for.

Ughh! I was excited for this story but I feel like everything happened too late in the story... The heroine held onto her grudge until the last 10% of the book. Even while gathering information from different people as to why her husband was the way he was. The MMC wasn't much better. He was weak and came across as his brother's lap dog. I was expecting more. Like why wasn't the idea of separate apartments introduced at the 50% mark for us to really see them settle differences as a couple? Also if you're looking for spice it's within the last 10% and no penetration (except for the hero's fingers) happens in this story. The heroine didn't seem to have an urgency to mend her relationship with the sons she abandoned. The only thing on her mind was abandoning them again🥱 I think I'm just overall disappointed and hoped for more. I hoped that halfway through she would want to pursue fixing her marriage to keep ties to her children and to prove she won't allow her needs to be ignored by her husband a second time which would force the MMC to prove his devotion to her. Good read but I couldn't help imagine how Mary Balogh would've written this plot...
