To say Ricky is having a bad year is an understatement. All his friends have found their happily ever afters, but he’s discovered his boyfriend is the latest in a long line of men who cheat. When his best friends get married, Ricky swaps his shift with another flight attendant and heads to Sydney to get away, only for that plane to crash on takeoff. And while he’s recovering from his injuries, his landlord evicts him.
In need of a fresh start, Ricky buys a first class ticket to Ibiza with his life savings, and vows things will be different. Starting with his name. Ricky made the reservation, but it’s Adrian who’s going to lie in the sun, meet gorgeous men, and make better choices. It’s Adrian who’s going to have a fabulous time without losing his heart to the next pretty face. If he can fly without a panic attack. Sleeping pills help, but when he wakes in London being carried from the plane by a gorgeous man who then brings him to his private suite in the first class lounge, Adrian wonders if he’s woken up in a fairy tale. And when Ren asks Adrian to accompany him to the Maldives on his luxury yacht, Adrian is sure there’s a catch.
His Royal Highness Prince Henri Renard Sebastian de Montclair is no one’s fairy tale. A playboy prince who’s on all the sexiest men lists, he revels in fabulous parties, premium liquor, the latest fashions, and a carefully cultivated bad-boy image that often leaves his father repairing the damage. When the paparazzi catch Ren in a swoony kiss with his best friend Maurice instead of his fiancée, it’s one debauchery too far. With threats of rehab hanging over his head, Ren accepts his father’s punishment: bring the royal yacht from Ibiza to the Maldives. Without friends. Without alcohol. Without trouble.
Trouble finds him on board the plane leaving LA in the form of a stunning green-eyed redheaded man seated across from him. A thwarted attempt at the mile-high club leaves Ren wanting more, but when they land, he discovers there’s a lot more going on with Adrian than he initially thought. And for some reason, Ren isn’t willing to walk away without getting to know Adrian better.
Note: Troubled Skies contains a rakishly handsome prince, a hero flight attendant with a troubled past, the luxury cruise of your dreams with fabulous food and destinations, forced proximity, one bed, and a swoony, romantic HEA. It is the third book in the Blue Skies series and is a complete standalone.
Ricky , a flight attendant, is in a horrific plane crash and survives. He hasn’t spoken to his parents in five years. He also seems to have unrequited crush on someone named Micah. (His book is called Nothing Like Forever. Not gonna lie, it sounds angsty.)
Ricky’s former housemate Luis pops into the hospital to tell him he’s become a local hero and that he is going to Luis and Darius’s home to recover. ( Their book is book 2 - Friendly Skies)
Ren is a party playboy prince. He parties hard. So hard he has lost a fiancée and his family is demanding his return to Europe to bring the Belle to the Maldives - sober.
What is the Belle?
Ricky is understandably having pretty bad trauma from the plane crash . And is now homeless, thanks to a now ex hookup he was crashing with.
Ricky decides fuck this. New me, New life and a new name.
‘That name was staying in LA with all the mistakes and bad relationship juju of Ricky’s past. He was going to be Adrian, and Adrian was going to have the time of his life.‘
Ren meets Adrian on a plane and is surprised at how overprotective he feels over the stranger. Adrian is not coping flying. Adrian tries to hookup with Ren in the bathroom but a flight attendant interrupts. I’m not to sure if Adrian was sleep walking …
Ahh yes Xanax and ambien, he’s got know idea what he did. Adrian is so out of it, Ren carries him from the aeroplane. Then has him stay with him in a hotel room. No sexy shenanigans apart from a kiss the next day… and a realisation they had kissed before on the plane when he was out of it. Adrian abruptly exits in horror.
What a coincidence- they are both flying to Ibiza and seated next to each other.
Ohhh the Belle must be a yacht or something. The Belleza del Sol.
Poussin? I googled this because Ren keeps calling Adrian this and it means a chicken killed young for eating. Wtf?! 🤣🤣 Why is this his nickname Ren!!
Ok I investigated further ( Thanks ChatGBT 😅)
As a Pet Name: * Just like in English we might say “baby,” “sweetie,” or “cutie,” in French, “poussin” is an adorable, affectionate nickname. * It’s often used in relationships It conveys: * Softness * Cuteness * Tenderness * Something or someone small and loved
Ok phew 😅 I can move on. It will be mentioned 158 times in the book…
🤣The next page Adrian asks why he calls him that as well.
Adrian’s trauma over flying is severe but Ren is there, supporting and distracting him.
There’s a mutual attraction but Adrian is hesitant to be vulnerable with another man when his heart has been broken so many times before.
He’s also uncomfortable with all the luxury that surrounds Ren, something Adrian is not familiar with.
Adrian’s luggage goes missing. Begin Pretty woman shopping spree montage without the rude sales clerk.
‘As he floated in the a pool on a super yacht anchored in Ibiza wrapped in the arms of a gorgeous and sexy man who had been nothing but attentive and generous, Adrian had to wonder how this was his life right now.’
Sexy times in the yacht pool. On the deck. In the cabin.
🤣oh no, while they were sleeping the yacht set sail!
“Did you…” Adrian shook his head, then turned to look at Ren with what could only be described as horror. “Did you fucking kidnap me?”
The yacht won’t turn around and Adrian needs to think alone. He texts Luis and finds out Ren is a freaking Prince. Lol Luis also send him a Pretty Woman gif.
Adrian is pretty mad but mostly hurt and plans to get off at the next port. But when that time comes , he doesn’t actually want to leave Ren and Ren doesn’t want him to leave either. Adrian decides he will give them to the next port to get to know each other more.
They are definitely falling for each other but it feels like a hopeless love with an expiration date as Ren is Royalty.
They have a romantic time in Athens and can’t bear to be parted so it’s off to the Maldives.
There’s pirate, and a helicopter rescue. Ren refuses to leave a frozen frightened Adrian. Ren realises he’s in love.
They arrive in the Maldives and Maurice has brought the party to Ren.
Ren finds Adrian packing his bags .
“Mon amour. I love you. I want to be with you.” Adrian sniffled. “I love you, too,” he whispered.
Ren is realising his friends are selfish. Adrian tries to stop the party … ooh and then Ren’ father arrives.
The king sends everyone off the ship including Adrian. Ren doesn’t have Adrian’s contact details.
The king makes Adrian sign a NDA and gives him a million dollar check … which he doesn’t take.
Ren tells the King he is in love with Adrian . After they talk, ren has his father’s approval and he is determined to get his man.
It’s been two weeks and Adrian is trying to rebuild his life.
Ren gets his man.
Two Years Later The official state wedding wouldn’t take place for another month, and it was going to be a spectacular event in Belvaux’s grand cathedral.
Hr was going to be marrying His Royal Highness Prince Henri Renard Sebastian de Montclair in a fairy tale wedding.

Troubled Skies is the third book in the Blue Skies series. Each book can be read as a standalone but why not enjoy the whole series. This is the story of Ricky a flight attendant who changes his name to Adrian after a plane crash and Prince Henri(Ren). I really enjoyed the first part of the book and the end of the book, the middle not so much. For the most part I enjoyed the characters. Ren was easy to like, Adrian was harder to get to know because of his lack of communication. I would definitely recommend this book. received a free review copy
Loved this book, it was a sincere love story between two men who belong together brought together by chance. It was super sexy, sweet at times and had plenty of will they won't they vibes. I'd recommend for sure and the epilogue was so freaking sweet ❤️.
* I received an ARC from GRR, this is my open and honest review *
Troubled Skies by Marie Sinclair is the third book in their Blue Skies series. It is the story of a playboy prince who changes his ways when he meets an unsuspecting down on his luck commoner who doesn’t know who he is and they fall in love. Richard Adrian Bennett is a flight attendant who has had a string of bad relationships by falling in love with men who didn’t love him back and were sometimes horrible to him. He went by Ricky and tried to pick himself up but was wary of relationships and had lost his trust. Then he was involved in a plane crash that left many dead but he survived and did his duty by helping as many others as he could escape. When he finally went to the hospital, he wasn’t seriously hurt but was in pain and having flashbacks of the crash that almost crippled him. He felt like he was alone and isolated but his friend Luis and his husband Darius swooped in and took him to their home to recover. Then he lost his apartment due to circumstances surrounding the crash and that is when he decided to change his life and make his own HEA. He changed his name to Adrian, feeling like Ricky was the person he was in the past, and booked a first class ticket to Ibiza for a vacation and to figure out where to go from there. He met Prince Henri Renard Sebastian de Montclair, or Ren, who was a prince of Belvaux at LAX as he waited to board the plane. Ren was the second son and spare of the King and had quite a playboy reputation for partying and causing havoc because he thought that was part of his royal duties. He also liked men as well as women which his father wanted him to keep under wraps. But after a huge party that decimated the penthouse suite of a famous hotel, ditching his fiancé, and getting his picture taken kissing his friend Maurice, his father had had enough and summoned him to go to Ibiza on their yacht, the Belleza del Sol, alone and return on it to the Maldives with no drinking and no partying. He noticed a beautiful red-haired man in a golden coat at the airport and started wondering about him. He was pleased when he was seated next to him on the plane. When he heard Adrian whimpering, he wanted to comfort him but he was asleep as he had taken pills because he was still afraid of flying but he sleepwalked which led to an interesting restroom scene. On their second flight Ren arranged to be seated next to Adrian and they talked and Ren was there to comfort and hold him during the flight. Adrian didn’t know who Ren was which was a breath of fresh air because Ren could be himself and Adrian intrigued him. He took him on a tour of Ibiza, bought him clothes because his suitcase didn’t arrive, and they got to know each other more. Ren found out there were storms in the area so their boat was going to be delayed so he invited Adrian for dinner and he agrees so they have some fun in the pool beforehand, a great dinner, and since Adrian decided to have some fun, had a hot love scene and he stayed the night. But the boat left at 2 a.m. and that started all the problems. Adrian was mad and thought Ren had deceived him and had lost his trust and even more so when he found out Ren was a prince. Ren was heartbroken because he really wanted to be with Adrian and did everything he could to win back his trust. Adrian was going to leave the boat but he decided to stay and see what would happen, always thinking about not being Ricky again. Ren took him on tours of all the places they stopped at, had wonderful meals, and many hot love scenes. Ricky was still unsure but after talking to Luis and Rachel, Ren’s chef and good friend, they gave him the advice that even if this only lasts for a little while he should enjoy every minute of it, which he does even when he can’t go ashore to meet Ren’s friend or when they almost get attacked by pirates and have to go in a helicopter. After everything they declare their love for each other. In the background for both of them is that they can’t be together because Ren is a prince and his father won’t approve. It all comes to a head when they arrive in the Maldives and his old friends come on board and show their old partying ways, which are quickly squashed when Ren’s father appears. Ren has to make the decision to stand up for Adrian and their love which has surprising results that lead to them being together. I really enjoyed this book. Adrian was such a mess, and rightly so, at the beginning of the story. Throughout it he kept realizing he had feelings for Ren but kept holding himself back because he didn’t want another failed relationship, but as time went on he feelings grew. Ren had never met anyone like Adrian, especially when he could be his true self and not His Royal Highness, and he loved doing things with him. He was also caring and when he messed up he was willing to do anything to get him back and he also stood up for him. Their friends, Rachel, and the King also played a big part in the story, especially in helping Adrian find his best life with Ren. I highly recommend this book, especially if you like stories about a prince who finds his forever love in a commoner and how they go about making their relationship work though good times and bad.
TROUBLED SKIES is the third and final book in the Blue Skies trilogy, but the first one I have read. Did I need to read the first two? No, but now I definitely want to.
You know how sometimes, you just want a nice, easy book to whisk you away to a different world from the one you currently live in? Well, that was me, and this book came up on my TBR list at just the right time.
It begins pretty angsty - Ricky is in an Air Traffic accident and ends up in hospital. Not only that, but he's also peeved about his friends finding love (it's reasonable, sort of, trust me!), AND gets kicked out of his home by a landlord that isn't worth the time on the page. So, he does what any reasonable person would do... he splurges his life savings on a ticket to Ibiza and uses his middle name, Adrian, instead of Ricky. Of course, that would work better if he didn't have to board a plane to get to Ibiza. No, scrap that - two planes! Luckily for him, Ren is on hand to help his nerves.
This book had me from the very beginning. No, I don't 100% know why Ricky was so peeved, but the explanations given in the book make perfect sense. The fact that he wanted to get away also makes sense. And Ren... ah, what can I say? I loved him from the very beginning. Okay, maybe not the VERY beginning, but as soon as he meets Adrian, definitely. I also loved how they both had their worries about how this would work in the future, but that didn't stop them from enjoying the time they had.
Ren is the more steadfast character out of the two, which was surprising considering his playboy prince persona. I loved how he did everything he could to ease Adrian's life (when Adrian would let him!) and show him different things. Honestly? If Adrian had asked for the sun, Ren would have been on the phone to someone to figure out how to make it happen. And while Ren was my favourite, I also understood how Adrian felt. Bless him, it was all a bit much after everything he'd been through.
A light-hearted, somewhat low-level angsty, and oh-so romantic story. Just what I need and absolutely 100% adored - of course I recommend it!
ps - Did Sheila survive? My mind won't let it go!!!

Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books! Sep 8, 2025
The timeline from the crash to Ricky/Adrian boarding another plane was a bit weird. Wasn't he still supposed to be seriously injured? It seemed like he only stayed like a week or two at his friends' place before he got on the plane to Ibiza. Also, when did he have the time to set up regular meetings with a therapist (enough for them to suggest he avoid air travel)?
The chapters were a bit too "tell-y" (particularly Ren's). The part that stood out the most to me was on the flight to Ibiza, the story just timelapses his and Adrian's conversation with "as the flight continued and they had the kind of conversation that two people who were attracted to each other had as they got to know each other". Like what? Show us the conversation that supposedly shows that they had mutual attraction. Don't just handwave that away (especially when Adrian is also supposed to be suffering from crippling anxiety on the flight). Show Adrian finding comfort in Ren's company, show the part of the conversation that justifies Ren's later thought that "Adrian saw him as a man first, not a prince". Why timelapse over the freaking romance? The fact that this happens in Adrian's chapter like two pages later just highlighted how pointless writing it out in Ren's chapter was.
I feel like Adrian should've been a bit more wary of Ren, especially when the topic of his ex-fiancee AND Maurice came out, given his experience with finding out he was the other man in a previous relationship.
I called it when Adrian and Ren basically all bit declared love for one another after like less than a full day together. I wasn't convinced that someone like Adrian would so willingly be open to the affection Ren was showing given his history. I wasn't convinced that Ren's attraction to Adrian wasn't anything but instalove given how much of their interactions were just "told" to us rather than showing how unique Adrian was to him (and even then, the strength of his feelings came on much too quickly).
3rd person, past tense, dual PoV Richard Adrian Bennett (28), flight attendant HRH Henri Renard Sebastian de Montclair (25), Prince of Belvaux
While this is the third book of the series and characters from the author's other books do pop up it stands alone well. Ricky makes brief appearances in their books as well, but other than establishing him as a rather prickly character who's in desperate need of an HEA you won't be missing any critical character development.
I enjoyed how Adrian and Ren were both a little rough around the edges yet they fit together so well. Neither was incredibly likeable to start out, but they felt real, and raw, and messy and kind of grew on you quickly as the story progressed. I'm an absolute sucker for a dash of secret identity so the fact that Adrian didn't immediately clock Ren a prince of Belvaux was super fun for me. The inevitable fireworks were satisfying as well as the resolution of that particular conflict.
This was pretty insta. It's not my favourite trope, especially with a longer page count, but there were quite a few other things going on to entertain and distract the reader, starting with incendiary sexy times and ending with sweet dates and tokens of affection. The sprinkling of French throughout was a fun addition and I loved Ren's pet name for Adrian. The forced proximity and how they got there in this book was especially delicious (though one could argue that forced proximity is a bit of a stretch on a mega yacht, lol). I absolutely cackled at the 'kidnapping' conversation.
My favourite scenes were the caretaking ones when Ren would do whatever was in his power to ensure Adrian was happy, healthy; and comfortable, he was such a goner from the moment he laid his eyes on him and I loved it. I enjoyed his playboy story arc and that he found himself when he found someone who expected him to be something more than a vapid prince. Adrian for his part took a minute to be able to open his heart, not only to Ren but to his friends as well and his life became that much richer for it. I wish there's been a little more on-page soul searching regarding his future after flying and some actual therapy for dealing with the trauma of the crash, but that's mostly because I wanted him to find a passion like many of the other characters have.
I was given an ARC and voluntarily wrote an honest review.
For all the erotic sexual content that this story includes, I believe that it is one of the sweetest love stories you'll ever read. Despite the many opportunities that Ricky/Adrian Bennett and His Royal Highness Prince Henri Renard Sebastian de Monclair, aka Ren, take advantage of to enjoy each other's bodies, this story is incredibly touching and tender. Each man has baggage, even if you're tempted to sneer at Ren's bemoaning of his situation as the spare. When he explains what that means in real terms, and you see how it impacts his attitude and behavior, you are compelled to empathize with him and to root for him as love transforms him. It's that transformation, which begins the first time Ren rescues him, that draws Adrian in, seducing his heart, mind, and soul, as well as his body. Ren's caregiving side, such a contrast with his public face, is admirable and endearing. And the way he treats Adrian's PTSD with care and concern, and rallies around him even at the risk of his own safety, makes this story almost tooth-achingly sweet.
I dinged it for the way the issue with Ren's father, the king, is handled. Readers had not been given any reason to hope for a happy ever after for these two men, but the rabbit the author pulls out of the hat, so to speak, is quite unexpected and not at all believable after the way she set up the father-son relationship up to that point. It felt rushed, as if she didn't quite know how to close out that thread of the story but knew she had to do something or her readers would protest. In addition, there was a lot of repetition of Adrian's and Ren's inner monologues that covered the same ground. That started to get old after a while.
This is a romance between a flight attendant and a prince. Adrian (flight attendant) is in a plane crash, and takes a vacation to try to de-stress about it (he really should have gone to the company sponsored psychiatrist first). His sleeping pills on the flight land him on the Prince's radar (Ren). From there, Adrian ends up on a yacht that Ren is sailing home on (2 weeks). There's more to it than that, but the setup is good.
I enjoyed the beginning of the book (plane crash, meeting Ren, and getting on the ship). And I enjoyed the ending (once Adrian had realized sailing on a 2 week cruise was kind of nice, that he DID really like Ren, and then the part with the pirates). The ending was great, a nice, if unbelievable, fairy tale HEA. But the middle.....The middle is the reason for the 3 stars. To quote the author's notes "It turned out that these two wanted to be together so much they pretty much went into HEA mode before the Belle left Ibiza, and that meant zero tension." I would have preferred a nice, easy romance as opposed to the drama llama Adrian turned into in the middle portion of the book. Pouting, tantrums, indecision. I pretty much didn't even LIKE either of these characters during this section of the book - in fact Adrian didn't even seem like the same character. Personally, I think the author should have gone with their first instinct - let these 2 fall in love easily because there was plenty of other plot to keep the story going.
Having not read the first two books in the series, I was a little worried that I wouldn't be able to enjoy this as much as I wanted to, despite the author saying that prior reading isn't required. But I loved this book SO MUCH. From the very first chapter, I was hooked and couldn't put it down.
Adrian (formerly known as Ricky) absolutely broke my heart - he's been through so much and I just wanted him to find that happiness he so desperately craved. Watching him reinvent himself in the wake of tragedy, trying to set boundaries while still being true to himself, was both heartwrenching and beautiful. Then there's Ren with his bad-boy reputation and his earnest desire to be seen differently. He's funny, he's messy and he's incredibly lovable. The chemistry between them jumped off the page, their banter made me smile, and the tender moments made me swoon.
The settings are an escapist fantasy, and every suggested reel on my various FYPs have suddenly been about massive super-yachts. I'm incredibly sad that I haven't won the lottery yet. (Though, I could live without pirates in my version, thank you very much.)
This book is absolutely a standalone, though I suspect you'll want to go back and read the first two the way I did. The writing is fun, romantic and immersive, and their HEA left me smiling like a fool. If you love royal romances, accidental forced proximity, or just want to escape to the world of the uber-wealthy and their massive yachts, this is the book for you.
[I received an advanced copy of this book. All reviews and ratings are my own.]
This is the Third book in the Blue Skies Series. I read this as a standalone and didn’t find I was missing anything having not read the other books. (though I do own them so I should go back and read them for my own enjoyment)
Ricky survived a horrific plane accident just after he broke up with his BF. He recovered staying at his friend’s place and just had enough and needed to get away. He then booked a first-class trip to Ibiza and spent his savings on the trip. He wanted a ‘New You’ holiday, so he used his middle name going by Adrian.
Ren is the spare prince of his small country. He has a lot of expectations and tends to drink and party hard. After a disastrous in-room party at a top hotel, his father orders him on a sober trip to bring the family superyacht from Ibiza to the Maldives. Oh, and he is not allowed to take the private jet and must fly commercial.
Adrian catches Rens attention from the first sight of him at the Airport. When they are seated next to one another ren is excited. He helps Adrian with his understandable anxiety and fear when flying. Ren invites Adrian to his yacht, and the captain sets sail during the night without them realizing. I really enjoyed this book. It was sweet and funny yet still has an emotional component that gives it grit that makes it entertaining and not just fluff. Both MCs had their own issues to work through before they could admit their feelings or commit to one another.
Tropes: Royalty, One Bed, Mental health rep, Class Difference, Opposites Attract,
“Troubled Skies” by Marie Sinclair is the third book in the ‘Blue Skies’ series and it details the challenging events that lead flight attendant Ricky to take a chance on getting away from all of the painful reminders of his past and flee to exotic climes. The only trouble, his past trauma causes him to need rescuing, and, amazingly the person who helps him is indeed a charming prince.
This adult contemporary gay romance is a lovely twist on the “person in distress needing a hero” trope. One can’t help but think it was much too soon for Ricky to get on a plane, but the semi-incognito Ren is definitely a delicious rescuer who is dealing with his own set of troubles. I enjoyed the way their relationship unfolds as each man learns to offer trust, and the mouthwatering exotic locations they are visiting were intriguing to an armchair traveler like me. I kept waiting for there to be a challenge about Ricky’s name, but it never seemed to be an issue. I was a little startled at the danger in sailing the royal yacht in certain waters, which made me wonder why they’d risk the presence of a potential hostage, but it definitely added spice to the story. This was a fun story to read, and now I want to go wandering, but not on a ship where I’d probably get seasick!
Ricky is having a run of bad luck, one that just seems to never end. It’s one thing after another, & it’s clear that he just needs a fresh start somewhere. After a plane crash, becoming homeless, he just needs to completely start over somewhere new, as someone completely different... to become Adrian. He decides to become someone who makes great decisions and has a good life.
Ren is a playboy, always up for anything, until his father blocks him from having the life he likes to enjoy. His name, Renard (fox in French) seemed to fit him well.
It’s not quite clear how Ricky can just change his name on a whim, & travel under his new identity just like that... It just wasn’t clearly explained until almost the end of the story. Yet Ren would have found this out quickly when the seats in the airline were switched so that they could be together, which would have led to a few questions that Adrian would have needed to answer.... However, this didn’t happen.
Adrian had quite a sad start in this story, but he ended up in a real life fairy tale of sorts, I’m happy to say.
The epilogue was quite nice, too.
I received this free ARC, and this is my honest review.
Final book of the series. It hasn’t been the easiest series for me, lightweight that I am! But very much worth it. Ricky was miserable in his life. He wouldn’t admit it to anyone else, but he was. One thing after another, after another, kept happening to keep him from getting to where he wanted to be in life. Or really knowing what that might be. The plane crash brought him to his knees emotionally. Time for a change. Prince Henri was trouble, and in trouble. He found it so tiresome to behave as a prince should, so he didn’t. His latest party had his father stepping in to make him realize just how far he’d gone. I like who Ren is with Adrian. He’s not the spoiled rich brat, he’s just a man. Still rich and a bit spoiled, but not wild. He tried to show Adrian he could be trusted. In order to do that, he had to learn to be trustworthy. Adrian had to find stability, too. So much had happened so quickly. He didn’t trust himself, much less anyone else. The whole series is well-written, with great characters and storylines. The settings are beautiful, too. Great stories!
My heart is so warm as I close my kindle! This was a lovely romance between two unlikely lovers.
Viewing this book from a macro-lens, it’s easy to see that this author put lots of care into the journey of our characters. The tone of Adrian’s inner monologue went through a thorough transformation that had such a satisfying ending. It made sense - what he experienced in the beginning of this book was traumatic and life-altering. He had to heal, and I really felt each stage of healing as the story progressed. Adrian’s final moment of acceptance of his feelings for Ren was *chef’s kiss.*
And Mr. Prince Charming himself, aka Henri Renard Sebastian de Montclair??? Swoon! Admittedly, Ren’s character development was less drastic than Adrian’s, but seeing him break through his playboy exterior for Adrian was so nice.
The spice was definitely there, but I think this book is perfect for someone who prefers stories without gratuitous spice.
A few things to expect from Troubles Skies: - royal / commoner - MC healing from trauma - playboy MC - forced proximity - *french* dirty talk
Thank you to the author and to Gay Romance Reviews for the opportunity to read and review this ARC!
3.5 stars rounded up to 4 Ricky has always given his heart away too easily. That's why he impulsively trades flight with another flight attendant to fly from LA to Sydney, missing his friends Luis and Darius's wedding reception to avoid an ex. As luck would have it, they crash on takeoff. A month later, Ricky decides to empty his bank and fly to Ibiza for a two-week vacation. It's time to reinvent himself as Adrian, his middle name. Ren's partying has gotten out of control. After the latest show of debauchery, Ren's father has exiled he to the chore of moving the family yacht from Ibiza to the Maldives. Knowing flying so soon after the plane would trigger his PTSD, Adrian enjoyed Xanax and Ambien before takeoff. This leads to a super meet cute that goes from the plane to a luxury private lounge at Heathrow to Ibiza. Adrian accidently stowaways on the yacht when it leaves port several hours early. The captain, seeing how Aderian calms Ren down, allows Adrian to continue on the voyage. What follows is a travelogue from Malta to Athens and through the Suez Canal to encounter pirates off the coast of Africa. Not for the faint of heart.
Ricky is a flight attendant who, after a string of bad luck—including a cheating boyfriend, a plane crash, and an eviction—decides to change his life. He rebrands himself as Adrian, buys a first-class ticket, and vows to be more careful with his heart. His plan is to go to Ibiza, but a panic attack on the plane leads to him being rescued by a handsome stranger. That stranger is Prince Renard, a "playboy prince" whose public misdeeds have landed him in trouble with his father. As punishment, he must sail his yacht from Ibiza to the Maldives alone. However, an unexpected encounter with Adrian on the plane sparks a change in him, and he finds himself intrigued and unwilling to let Adrian go.
I enjoyed this tale of two people running from their pasts and finding a new path together. Ren was a very OTT example of someone wealthy who was out of control with his decadent lifestyle. Ricky was more deserving of pity after his plane crash but was unbelievably pathetic with his choices for romantic partners and sulking. I enjoyed this story but did not love it. This was an MM story with mature content.
Once again, I read the 3rd in a series without reading the others, so I came in blind. Ricky is a flight attendant who goes down in a horrific plane crash but survives relatively unscathed. However, the media attention causes him to be evicted, and he's also not over some past relationships. He decides he's going to change his life and start over as Adrian in Ibiza. Meanwhile, Prince Henri wakes up in a destroyed LA hotel room, with a very angry father on the phone who forbids him from drinking any longer and forces him to agree to take the family yacht from Ibiza to the Maldives for him. While in the airport, Ren (Prince Henri) spots Adrian and then magically ends up seated across the aisle from him on the plane. Its a wonderful meetcute that leads Ren into helping Adrian off the plane to his connecting flight, all the while convincing Adrian to "just have dinner" with him once they both get to Ibiza. So begins a wild fairy tale romance of sorts. I enjoyed the story, but didnt always connect with the characters for some reason. However, I blame me, not the author. This one is worth a chance.
I thoroughly enjoyed this series by this amazing author, they really dig in the feels and emotions with such a unique writing style!
Sassy Ricky finally gets his story and hard earned HEA and what a story it is!
A fairy tale enchantment with a dashing prince and pirates to boot aboard a super yacht on the open seas heading for the Maldives! 🛥️
After a traumatic experience Ricky Bennett decides it’s time for a new beginning- a new persona- Adrian Bennett- destination- Ibiza… and then he meets Henri Renard- Ren to his friends- aboard the plane and this is where their amazing, life changing, emotional growth journey to their ultimate happiness begins…
It was not easy but these two broken, lonely misunderstood souls really saw each other and not the personas they portrayed and brought out the best in each other to appease all their fears!
A beautiful epilogue shows them two years later with tearful moments and sweet words that will have the tear ducts working overtime!

I loved this book. It was a beautiful hurt/comfort romance. Great world building and wonderful characters. I loved both Adrian and Ren. They were different people, but they really just clicked. I felt bad that Adrian seemed to have bad luck in things, though Ren was there with him for some of it. Being a prince and spare to the throne, there was responsibility on Ren's shoulders, but with Adrian he could just be himself. The chemistry between them sizzled. I loved the dynamic between them and the way their relationship developed. They were really sweet together. I loved the scene where Adrian challenged Ren to pick out presents for each other from the market with only twenty euros each.
This story did have some bumps- after bad relationships in the past, Adrian didn't want to be hurt again, and Ren had to prove he was trustworthy in the face of Adrian's insecurities. There was also the whole issue of Ren being royalty, and Adrian a commoner. I was completely hooked. I wish this would be an audiobook someday. I'd love to hear it! 5 stars
I love a good prince story, and this one hit all the right notes. Ren starts off spoiled and wild, but Adrian’s love transforms him into someone truly caring. And Ren, in turn, strengthens Adrian. Their opposite lifestyles clashed and blended perfectly - proof that love truly knows no boundaries. Added to that, their chemistry was undeniable. That yacht wasn’t just rocking from the waves!
Ren’s friends were not impressive. Maurice, in particular, could’ve used a reality check. I was hoping he'd get the reckoning he deserved after his actions on the yacht. But catching up with Adrian’s crew from earlier books was a treat. They brought warmth and humor. Luis is hilarious and I am glad he had several cameos in this story.
The setting was pure escapism. The scenery was described so vividly I could almost feel the breeze and the food descriptions were mouthwatering. It felt like the perfect vacation read - lush, romantic, and emotionally rich.
After a series of unfortunate events - being cheated on, getting into a plane crash, being evicted - it is easy to see why Ricky felt he was in need of shedding his persona and looking forward to a change. He hoped for a change for the better. So he changes his name to Adrian, uses his savings to get a ticket to Ibiza and decides he is going to live and enjoy and not get into a situation that will break his heart again. He did not anticipate meeting Ren on his way to his destination. Ren is a prince that wants to just be a man. A prince who has been summoned to get it together. And who is a decent enough sort to want to step in and be there for Adrian. Anything worth having requires some work and sacrifice and this pair are put to their tests but it was good to see them come out in the end together. It was truly what both of them needed. Troubled Skies is the third installment of Marie Sinclaire’s Blue Skies series. It’s a contemporary love story set in many exotic locations (and I personally would absolutely include the first class airport lounge as exotic!) featuring a sassy American with a heart of gold and a playboy prince also with a heart of gold. Adrian and Ren trade off narration duties, but all chapters are in third person omniscient. This gives readers a lot of insight into what drives Adrian and Ren as they fall in love and contend with their different realities. If you like rags-to-riches stories, forbidden love, and opposites attract themes, there’s a lot to sink your teeth into with this story.
Okay, not gonna lie, I was a little disappointed when I finished the first book in the series and really wanted to read Ricky’s story next and discovered no, I had to read Luis and Darius’ story before getting to this one, but the way book 2 ended, I was so happy I could immediately jump straight into this one because it was such a dramatic way to finish book 2 and start book 3!
This book was a rollercoaster, for both Adrian and Ren, but I thoroughly enjoyed coming on this trip with them! I predicted what would happen after their yacht dinner in Ibiza, but I was not disappointed in how the story went from there! There were so many emotions back and forth, I enjoyed the side characters a lot, especially Rachel, and Luis continued to be a rock for Adrian. I got really stressed with everything that happened once they arrived in the Maldives, but rest assured that this story has a very happy ending, and a free bonus epilogue to download at the end of the story as well!!
Thank you for the book, here is my honest opinion: It’s pretty rare that I actually enjoy a royalty romance, but this one was an exception to the rule. I loved how absolutely besotted REN is when he meets Adrian, airport meet cutes are also a favorite. Adrian is reeling from a series of tough life events, including a recent plan crash. He’s a bit prickly and finds it hard to take this airport Prince Charming at face value, but the combination of Ren’s charm, a luxurious royal yacht, and stunning scenery is hard to resist. I was loving their connection and chemistry, could have done with the friction in the middle section, the tension unnecessary and feel a touch fabricated. But, I love a romance without relationship drama and there was plenty to keep me invested without it. That being said, this was lovely with a really fitting and satisfying HEA.
This is the third book in the Blue Skies series and I loved it. Adrian, whom we’ve known as Ricky in the previous books, decides to go on holiday to get over his latest failed relationship and a plane crash. On his flight to Ibiza, he meets Ren, a Prince, who helps him through his nerves at flying again, and who then invites him to dinner and then to stay on his family’s yacht. There is an instant attraction between them which blossoms as they spend time together but it’s not all plain sailing when Ren’s identity is revealed and they have to navigate dangerous waters. Adrian has been through much in his life and I thought Ren was kind and perfect for him. Their story is sweet, romantic and emotional, with heat, the side characters are for the most part lovely and the tension had me avidly turning the pages. This is a fabulous read and I can’t recommend it highly enough.
Hold your head up high and own your truth! Ricky, is having a hard time. He discoveres his boyfriend is not a good man, joining his previous relationships. Then he is in a plane accident, having him saving lives and reevaluating his own. Ren, is a charming man without focus and an owned purpose. He publicly lives a careless life while personally, he has his causes. Ricky revamps his personna into Adrian and intends to go on an adventure. He meets Ren, secretly Prince Henry on a plane and they connect. Delightful story where we get to know these two man and enjoy them being their best selves. Making choices and decisions about who they are today and the rest of their lives keeps us guessing and hoping. Ren and Adrian are delightful men, they have good friend support. Great story, well done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Two very different men meet, fall in love, fight to be together, HEA.
Oh sure, that's the gist of the story, but Marie has fleshed out Adrian and Ren so well, that you have to read this book and get their whole story!
It starts with a plane trip with Adrian being one of the flight attendants on board. Progresses to another plane trip where Adrian and Ren are both on board. Then to a private luxury ship. A few stops in exotic locations.
Many meals together, some misunderstandings, some shopping trips, and one party too many...
Like I said, you've got to read this book, if only for the romance...and the rest. Especially the shopping!
I recommend this book! Marie always makes me smile and my heart beat a little faster.
I loved the beginning of this book. I was so interested in Ricky as he deals with the aftermath of surviving a plane crash. The well-meaning friends. The frustration. Until he busts free and uses much of his savings on a trip to Ibiza, which of course requires a plane trip. Where he meets Ren, who is, unbeknownst to him, a prince.
I never connected to Ren the way I did with Ricky/Adrian. He seemed like a stock character, one I've met before. And though he gained a little more complexity by the end of the book, by that time I found his endearments just a little bit patronizing and his turnaround a little unbelievable. And although Adrian was so compelling at the beginning of the book, his (sometimes totally valid) brat episodes made him less so to me.
This was a cute read. I don’t think I’ve read a book involving a flight attendant and a prince before. I love finding new relationship dynamics. I enjoyed all the traveling Adrian and Ren did. They went to some of the most beautiful places. Poor Adrian went through a lot before Ren and although I think he could have benefited from talking about it and sorting some of it out I see the appeal to just getting away from it all. I liked time seeing the growth in Ren the longer he was with Adrian.
The pirates were intense, the food sounded amazing and Sylvie, Rachel, Luis and Darius were good side characters.
