I added this to my Queer bookshelf only because Dan (who is not queer) is very kind and considerate to gay men and lesbians in this book.
I don't recall clearly if I had ever heard of him when this book came, but over a decade later he became my favorite cartoonist.
While I am not impressed with his earlier stuff, this book made me laugh at least once every page, even if the whole Pat Sajak thing was a bit cringy-- funny at first, until what seemed like a joke stopped being funny. Aside from that it was VERY enjoyable.

This is pretty good, except for the weird fascination with pat sajak, was he really popular back in the 90's and I just don't remember it? It's a pretty funny book until near the end where it gets all serious out of nowhere. I had no idea who this guy was when I started reading it, but you don't have to to enjoy it.

Bizzaro among the savages was a OK book. It wasn't in my best interest all. I'm in to sports books and i decided maybe i should read different books. Then i went to a library saw the word savage and grabbed this book. Now it wasn't absolutely garbage it just wasn't in my interest.

i Could tell what this book was about just by looking at the hard copy and it OK. Its an adventure book about when this one cartoonist go on a really long field trip sort. I should say road trip and he visits some of his fans and he gets lost/ So he goes to the nearest place he could find and just started working on the cartoons he make. He eventually found his way home ,but that took a minute

I think I expected too much from this book. The stories of Piraro's meetings with the strangers who housed him on a cross-country book tour were interesting. But he gives us too many passages where Pat Sajak serves as his mystical guide, and too many repetitious passages about his insecurity about meeting new people. Oh well, it wasn't an awful way to kill time on an overseas flight.

I picked this book up on a whim. I think the name struck my fancy. It is one of only two books that literally made me laugh out loud to myself. His adventures and the way the he describes the interaction with his fans are amazing!
