The Medusa Division

Rate this book
Not yet recovered from the monumental events in the southern Alps of Japan, the young man the vampires have named “Medusa’s Son” is called into action again. Walt Baranov cannot hide from his destiny.

The enigmatic Ivan Kamenev asks him to head a response team to deal with vampire issues around the world. Still coming to terms with who he is and trying to help the powerful and furious Irina cope with her past … he respectfully declines. His reluctance is dispelled after he and the woman he loves are attacked on the way home.

Walt sees the need to step up and to help his partner release the simmering rage that lurks just below the surface. They enlist the help of old friends, specialists in both skill and knowledge to THE MEDUSA DIVISION. The formidable team is tasked with defeating the defiant monsters that still remain.

Their first mission finds the team flying to New York City. The city that never sleeps is under siege in the heart of the financial district. Mysterious deaths and disappearances and an ancient hotel in the middle of it all. The magnificent old building is filled with danger, secrets, and lies. Discretion becomes difficult as they encounter a problem that is far beyond the scope of what anyone could have imagined. Walt forms a plan that is as dangerous as it is brilliant. While nothing ever goes to plan, the team finds a way and the vampires soon learn that Medusa’s Son is not their only nemesis. It all pushes Walt to make the biggest decision of his life.

Author Ian Mitchell-Gill has lived a rich and varied life that made writing almost inevitable. Born overseas and raised in rural Canada, his days were spent playing guitar, engaging in athletic endeavors, and reading every paperback jammed on the shelves. Surrounded by great storytellers in his family and a close-knit group of friends, allowed his imagination to roam.
This path led him down the road to becoming a teacher, and he started writing to create samples for his students to understand how a story is developed and polished. He and his students enjoyed the process so much that he began to write a chapter a week to share with them.

His many experiences and interests proved to be valuable background for some of the characters and situations in the book.

Ian lives in Oshawa, Ontario, with his wife and two daughters. He continues to teach.

This sequel is just as good as the first book! I loved it. It is action packed. Irina was a vampire that was cured in book 1 and she fell in love with Walt Baranov, who has become known as Medusa’s son. His touch and his blood can kill the vampiric infection. The vampire cure is made up of the antigens in his blood and the whole storyline of book 1 and 2 is just freaking awesome. He is a regular American guy in Moscow and then when attacked by a vampire in book 1, you find out his touch and blood causes mayhem and destruction on vampires. I would love to see this as a show or movie. But, my imagination is almost as good as watching tv. Irina’s dad is a bigwig in Russia and he decides that the vampire problem needs a solution- he sets up The Medusa Division with Walt at the head and Irina as the muscle and then some of the people from book 1 and a few others. OMG the fight scenes. Woooooo. I found myself chewing on my nails and rooting out loud as I read. So, the first use of the team ends up being in a beautiful old hotel in NYC. I have to say, Walt’s ideas are absolutely crazy but they work. I ended up yelling at the book at a few points. lol. I can’t wait to see what happens next. Irina is scary as all get out as she fights.

Needs and wants don't always match.

Instead of life away from vampire complications, new solutions must be found to deal with the issues.

New complications, more folks in need, and different solutions and choices are faced, as different next steps become necessary.

Paranormal suspense, drama and action.
