Revenge is a dish best served cold--where it can be enjoyed over and over and over again. When Claire's grandson is framed for murder at one of Paris's most iconic cafés, the stakes for finding him innocent could not be higher. With her unique perspective shaped by face blindness, Claire must navigate a labyrinth of revenge, deceit, and hidden double motives. Every clue she uncovers leads her deeper into the murky underworld she thought had died with her father. Time is not her friend in this nail-biting race to save her grandson from a life in prison. Will she clear his name and save her own place in the city she calls home? Or will she see her only grandson indicted for a crime he didn’t commit? "A Killable Feast" is a gripping tale of family, revenge, and the unrelenting quest for justice—set against the enchanting setting of the world’s most magical city.
I adore these books by Susan Kiernan Lewis even though they aren't free! Silly I know since I have close to 1,500 kindle books ready to read in my kindle library! The family dynamics in these Claire Baskerville mysteries are one reason I find them so good. That Joelle, Claire's hateful stepmother, seems to show up like a bad penny hightens the tension. And is Claire's father wellĺ and truly dead? Now I've pre-ordered the next one in this and the Maggie Newberry series as well.
Susan Kiernan-Lewis hits it out of the park again!
I’ve been waiting on pins and needles since reading the preview several months ago and this new Claire Baskerville mystery did not disappoint! I love the characters, I love the messiness of the relationships, but most of all I love Claire Baskerville who is always such a role model for fully living out loud in her 60’s! Thank you, SK-L!
Susan has outdone herself once again! This girl can spin a tale and I absolutely did not see/guess who did it! The characters are always interesting and unique. The storyline flows and I most generally cannot put the book down until I’ve finished the whole thing. Most assuredly loved this one!
Just love this series set in Paris. It begins when Claire’s grandson is accused of murdering a man in a famous cafe. Claire sets out to prove his innocence but is faced with many roadblocks including the return of her nemesis, Joelle. It is only through her perseverance and the love of her family and friends that she sees this through a successful conclusion.
When her grandson is arrested for a murder she can’t believe he committed, Claire sets out to prove his innocence. She keeps being fed misinformation that leads her in the wrong direction over and over again. Will she ever get pointed in the right direction? A very complicated yet powerful story. Don’t miss it. This is the first read for this author, even though it is #14 in her series. For the most part, intriguing, but I felt she used the same phrases multiple times within the story ( "dappled shadows through the trees") (" the approach of fall/autumn") and it felt overdone.
Enjoyable and entertaining. I got this as a free E book, and it is part of a sries and I do feel I would have benefited from reading the previous books to get a bit more og the character's history.
