Natalie Barnett is the last person on the face of the earth I should pursue. After all, she pretty much hates me. But ever since the night we shared, I can’t stop thinking about her or the animal inside of me she’s awakened.
But what if underneath all that hate is something else? Something more than worth fighting for?
Natalie
Matt Anderson is too perfect.
If anyone knows the truth about “good guys”, it’s me. I know it’s an act. I know beneath that ridiculously hot body, those sweet words, and big puppy dog eyes is a man waiting to break me, and I will not be broken. Not again.
I know I need to stay away from the man who wants more than I can give. Especially because I don’t do commitments. I don’t do love. But how can I resist him when I keep bending my rules for him?
4 ⭐ 4 🌶️ Tropes: Hate to love, opposites attract, cinnamon roll MMC, he falls first, workplace romance
Give Me a Chance is the second book in the BYC series focusing on Natalie and Matt. Matt is a lawyer who leaves his soul sucking corporate job to work for BYC, where he ends up working closely with Natalie on several outreach projects. Natalie and Matt are complete opposites- she’s anti relationship and never sleeps with the same man twice. Matt hates the idea of once and done sex without feelings and is looking for the entire long term package: marriage, kids, white picket fence.
Whooo this was one spicy book! You’re introduced to Natalie and Matt in the previous book, where all you know is that they hate each other and can barely stand the other’s presence. This story obviously explains where that comes from (duh, the story is about them)- the hottest hookup either of them have ever had- and explains Matt doesn’t do sex without feelings and Natalie doesn’t want any feelings involved at all.
I wavered between 3.5 and 4 stars for this because I think the book is very well written and a good story that most people would like, but it’s not really for me. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it. However, I would and have recommended this book to others so I think it deserves 4 stars.
But also, this is the internet so I’m still going to give my opinion on a few things: -Love that he’s such a family guy and that it’s really important to him to get married and have kids -I was annoyed at how aggressive Natalie is. -I don’t like Conner being referred to as Eric’s dad. If Eric wants to call him dad that’s fine, but Conner is his step dad and just because he’s the only one in the picture doesn’t mean he gets to take that title without Eric’s consent. -Yes, this can be read as a standalone so I get the need to re-explain things that happened in the first book, but the characters kept explaining L&L and Rina/Conner’s relationship too much -I disliked how Natalie kept stringing Matt along. Like it happened too many times, and I think what bothered me about it was how he kept groveling to her. It’s one thing to want to be independent but she keeps running hot and cold and only accepts him when he begs for forgiveness. I don’t need perfect characters (what’s the point of reading then?) but something about this felt off.
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review! I was worried going into this one that I would not like it as much as I did the first one, but damn it did not disappoint!! I am already so excited for book three, I need more! Matt had my heart from the get go! He was so sweet, and him being worried about hurting her during spicy time was so sweet. I love their chemistry so much, i wish the book was longer because i was not ready for it to be over
Matt and Natalie were adorable. Matt’s golden retriever-ness, the way this man fell and fell HARD and the way he respected Natalie and moved at her own pace (after a while anyways) was such top tier boyfriend material, I love it.
This was so flipping cute. Matt is the sweet and attentive golden retriever with a kinky side and Natalie hates how much she doesn’t hate him at all. I loved the push and pull of their relationship. I loved that Matt had this Dom side he slowly uncovered through learning what Natalie was into. I lived their love. They really earned it. And the spice! First chapter, sentence one already right into it. They were so hot together, but also you just wanted to root for them. They were made for each other. I think the author did a good job fleshing out the characters, and showing their personal growth, not just their journey to being a couple. The side characters are interesting too. I love an interconnected standalone where I can uncover more about characters that may have already had a book, and some that may have one coming up. One downside for me would be there could be more active voice; more actual dialogue between characters. Overall an enjoyable read. Definitely recommend. 4/5⭐️ 4/5🌶️
“Give me a Chance” is the second instalment in the “BYC Series”. Matt and Natalie have a love hate relationship, especially from Natalie’s side. This makes everything very awkward as they are all part of the same friend group. On top of that, Matt is now working as the in-house lawyer at BYC. They agree on a truce for Rina and Connor’s wedding - everything runs smoothly and they get a long really well. They both feel the attraction towards each other ….. Natalie backs off and the truce is over!
Natalie refuse to do relationships and only ever sleeps with the same person once, until Matt. Matt on the other hand wants to settle down, have a family and the house in the suburbs. No one knows what traumatic happened in her past to cause this, not even her best friends. Gradually the barriers begin to fall between them - they become “friends with benefits.” Slowly the barriers come down and she opens up to Matt. Together, can they make this work and have a future together? The attraction to each other is getting stronger and stronger.
Matt: We stand in silence while I’m drinking my new beer and watching the way she moves on the dance floor. Her dress tracks every curve on her body. Just another victim, unable to resist her, it follows her movements, billowing around her. Her eyes sparkle under the string of lights, happiness emitting out of her.
Natalie: He looks up, surprise on his face and leans back on his feet, giving me an even better view. Sweat drips down his hard pecs, so my gaze traces a drop over the sculpted abs to the waistband of his shorts where it disappears. His chest is smooth, and I ache to drag my hands all over it. Better yet, my tongue.
I’m not proud to say I checked out the back side too - spoiler: it was as good as the front. Not that I’m ashamed of checking a guy out.
This is a lovely book that will keep you hooked! It has fun, laughs, intrigue, twists that you do not expect, and physical attraction. I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful love story. From page to page, chapter to chapter, you will enjoy this beautiful story - from cover to cover! This book will not disappoint 😊
Matty boy is head over heels for Ms I’ll-never-commit from the very beginning and not even her rejection and attitude can keep him away from her. They’re drawn to each other like moths to light time and time again.
Our girl Natalie has a bad case of ‘this can’t happen again’ when it comes to good boy Matt—especially when he drops the act in the sheets (metaphorically anyway since they’re fans of exhibitionism 🫢🤭)
I absolutely adore the way their love story unfolded and how they work together, completely at odds to what they thought their lives would ever look like. Natalie deserves the world and more, the more I read about this story the more that belief grew and the same goes for Matt as well.
Nadia evoked so many unexpected emotions from me in this book and every detail was thought out so, so well. She did such a great job with both of their stories, character depth and development, the sude characters, the patience and reluctance, everything 🥹 This author has touched on so many different subjects throughout the BYC series so far, breaking them down carefully and I truly cannot wait to see this whole thing through 💜
Give Me a Chance by Nadia Neale is her second BYC series installment. We were introduced to Natalie and Matt in the first book, Second Chance. This novel is their love story. Natalie does not do commitments, nor does she do love. She knows the good guy persona is all an act. Matt knows he should not pursue her. She hates him pretty much anyway after the one night they shared. He can’t stop thinking about her and the beast she has awoken inside of him. Can Natalie keep resisting him? His ridiculous hot body, sweet words, and big puppy dog eyes. She keeps bending the rules she put in place long ago. Matt knows underneath all that hate is something else. Something more than worth fighting for. Can these two enemies turn the tables around to lovers?
I LOVED THIS BOOK! My favorite in the series! We met Matt and Nat in the first book. They could not stand each other even when they were in the same friend group. I had to know what the tension was. We find out throughout this installment (I won’t spoil it for you). The author did an amazing job again with the tension, the banter, and the dirty talk. I fell in love with Matt! He is such a sweetheart/golden retriever. While Natalie is a headstrong and feisty woman. I loved the sides that they brought out from each other. It was heartbreaking to find out Natalie's backstory. It provided so much more knowledge on why she acted so guarded. I’m so glad that Nadia kept all the characters together. We still see glips into Conner and Rina’s relationship as well. Along we more of Eric and Nat's amazing friendship too. That just melts your heart. I can’t wait to read book number 3!
Pros: -Matt was literally perfect in every way. -The sex was hot and there was a lot of oral. -There was actual aftercare in this one versus the first book. -HEA
Cons: -It felt like a commercial for reusable silverware. -Natalie was legitimately insufferable. This is a grown woman who isn't mature enough to handle her own trauma, instead hurting the people around her. It was one step forward, seventeen steps back with her and it was exhausting. -I struggled to get through it because it felt really slow. They had the same fight over and over. Matt was Natalie's punching bag and it was hard to read. -Choking does not mean breathplay. For choking to be the main kink of the book, I expected more accurate information. -This one had even more typos than the first one, from simple spelling errors to glaring grammatical issues.
This book is for you if: You find choking hot but don't have knowledge of kink.
Would I re-read?: No.
In conclusion: This book actually made me feel bad for a man named Matt. Disgusting. I didn't actively dislike the book and I think it's a cute read, but the errors and inaccuracies made it tough to get through.
Just finished reading an advanced copy of a book that will be released on October 13th called, Give Me a Chance. This was about a guy and girl we were introduced to in the author's first book, Second Chance. They are a part of the friend group and after one night together they try to stay away from each other but just can't seem to. They are around each other all the time in their friend group, and then on top of that he gets a great job opportunity at her workplace. The chemistry between them is undeniable, he wants a chance to be with her and make her happy. But she is guarded and keeps him at arm's length. This was such a good story about learning to trust, healing from trauma, and giving love a chance. I read this story in a day, I couldn't put it down! 💜📚
Thank you to the author and to the publisher for this ARC of Give Me a Chance, in exchange for an honest review.
Nadia deserves an award for her dedications alone. They do not miss!!
4/5⭐️ 3.5/5🌶️
“He’s mine. And I ache to be his. To give up the power I so desperately hold onto.”
-Cinnamon Roll MMC -He Falls First -Workplace Romance -Man Eater FMC -Opposites Attract -Dual POV -Enemies to Lovers
Matt and Natalie’s story is every bit as spicy as Rina and Conner’s. Matt, a former vanilla lover, comes out of his shell and uncovers so many new kinks thanks to Natalie. Natalie, the man eating FMC, takes whatever she wants, whenever she wants, and doesn’t think twice about it.
I love that Matt is so set on finding his wife and starting a family. Even after his friends with benefits relationship starts with Natalie, he is so unapologetically himself and never gives up his wants. I was rooting for him the entire story. Natalie on the other hand…I wanted to scream at her to just love Matt and be happy. But once she opened herself up to him, I couldn’t have been happier for her. The angst, the tension, the banter, the sexual chemistry, the character growth….I ate up everything about their relationship!
Nadia Neale has quickly become one of my favourite authors and this was another awesome book of theirs that I just couldn’t put down.
Natalie has been burned by love and is only willing to “tap that” once since it would be too soon for emotions to get involved. Matt is so not a love them and leave them type guy, he’s all about being in a committed relationship. I loved how Matt was true to himself and up front about what he needs while trying to work with Natalie was offering him. There was plenty of steamy moments, my fav was in chapter one (the bathroom scene) holy hotness!!
I absolutely loved this book and look forward to reading more by this author. I definitely recommend checking out this book.
- I love the dedication in this book ! "To all the girls who like good guys that fuck like bad ones! We all deserve a green flag guy that will punish us with orgasms!" - does contain some content warnings - this is about Natalie and Matt turn -this is the second book in BYC series and I am more addicted to book 2 than book 1 😅😅 - the tension between Natalie and Matt is really spice and hate to love type - I love how it is a workplace romance starts to blossom - also seeing how the opposite attracts in this book - the mmc , he is very cinnamon roll - love seeing guys falls first in books - I love how Matt is soo caring and patience with Natalaie after what she has been through In the past - there relationship is so adorable - I need book 3 .... I'm addicted to this series

Matt is a cinnamon roll and I was in his corner the whole time! For Matt, Natalie is an addiction from the first night she lets him in for a tiny piece of her. But Natalie isn’t interested in anything but a one-night only. When they are made to cross paths more and more with the same group of friends, the attraction turns into frustration and a whole of awkwardness for their friends, only made worse when a tipsy night turns into a repeat performance, but only hotter than the first. Followed by working for the same company. Waiting to see if Natalie would let down her walls and give Matt a chance had me churning through this book. And the super spicy scenes did not disappoint! 4 ⭐️ 4 🌶️
This is the 2nd in the BYC series. This follows Matt and Natalie story.
This is a hate to love story. He falls first and hard. Matt is looking for his soul mate and doesn't have sex without feelings, whereas Natalie is a sex with no feelings, kinda girl. She has some past trauma and built her walls up high.
The chemistry between them is amazing. He brings out a softer side to her, and she brings out an animal in him.
Really enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it to others.
There are some TWs in this book, so don't forget to check them.
I had an ARC of this in exchange for an honest review.
Book 2 of the BYC did not disappoint! Matt and Natalie can’t deny they’ve got a spark of attraction- but they’re opposites in every aspect of relationships. When these kind-of-enemies turn into something more, Matt must give up his pursuit of white picket fences and commitment because that’s not what Natalie wants…. Or is it? This steamy romance had a good amount of plot. I felt like the characters, which get a little intro in BYC book 1, were well developed and likable. I love that the author steps away from the vanilla, but always focuses on communication, safety, and consent. And ooooohhhhh that belt on the cover makes quite the appearance. Can’t wait for book 3!
This was actually soooo cute I’m annoyed at how fast I read it 😭💜
Matt is such a golden retriever man child in the BESTTTTT way and Natalie is all walls and sharp edges until he gets under her skin 🫠 Their push pull, the tension, the bickering ugh I ate it up.
I loved reading her fall even though she tried soooo hard not to. I loved the way Matts obsessed but patient! It’s fun, spicy in the right spots and just easy to enjoy. A perfect little comfort romance for a tired brain 😌
Tropes enemies(ish) to lovers ⚡️❤️ golden retriever x grumpy girl 🐶💜 forced proximity-ish x same friend group 👀 slowish burn but also not really 🔥
I ate this book up, I simply could not put it down. I remember reading the first book and I was dying to know what had gone down between Natalie and Matt. I don't know if all my questions were answered but I truly loved following every twist and turn between the two.
Natalie and Matt have such extreme chemistry and that makes their constant back and forth that much better. I loved reading them having to try and get along for the sake of their friend group.
I really hope I get to read more from Nadia in the future.
This is the second book in the BYC series by Nadia Neale and it is a Hate-to-love romance where the spice is spicing all the way through.
Natalie doesn't do relationships and Matt is looking for his soul mate. When they decide to hook up one night in a dingey bathroom stall at the bar, neither one of them would realise how their life had changed forever.
I absolutely loved this book, the spice was 👌 spot on and oh so hot. The hate between these two made everything else come together perfectly. Everyone loves a gentleman with a dominant side that no one else sees.
This is the second book in the BYC series. I loved Matt and Natalie. From the first book, Matt was just a sweet soul who deserves the world. Matt and Natalie are complete opposites who are bound together by their friend group as well as working close together. Natalie’s walls start coming down which freak her out (rightfully so). It is amazing when she does allow herself to trust Matt though.
I was fortunate enough to receive an advanced reader copy from this author. My thoughts and opinions are honest and voluntary.
This was such a cute and spicy read and I really enjoyed reading their story. Matt is just the perfect dream guy that anybody would be lucky to have, and there comes Natalie with the no commitment rule that has Matt in a path to convince her to give him a chance. Their chemistry is off the charts and the spicy scenes leave you very satisfied if you know what I mean!!! This is usually not my usual read (just romance) but I really liked it and I can’t wait to read book 3. I received this book as an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
🌶️ 🥵 The SPICE!!!!! Say less after the first chapter! I knew right from the beginning it was going to be a page turner! Both main characters are extremely strong willed and to see them blossom and grow throughout this book was amazing! Their chemistry is one for the books, pun intended 😂 Matt is like most women’s dream man! He’s the type you brag to the family about but also keeps it kinky behind closed doors, or maybe not closed 🤪😂🥵
Quite original romance. 🔸️An ultimate cinnamon roll MMC tames combatative lioness, the guy is a perfect example of "cinnamon roll on the streets, devil in sheets" 😉 🔸️There is tension, longing, attraction, chemistry and many difficulties to establish relationship. 🔸️The spice is super hot and juicy. A great treat for those with breath play kink. 🔸️Overall, refreshing, entertaing and fun to read.
Nadia Neale has done it again! Read this in a couple of days (could have done it in one but adult responsibilities 🙄) and I loved every second of it! This is the second book in the BYC series but I felt as though if I hadn’t read the first one I would still understand the storyline.
Had just the right amazing of spice to romance, and it was well written I felt exactly what Natalie & Matt were feeling. I love this series and can’t wait for the third one to come out!
This is the second book in the BYC Series and I am really enjoying both so far! Since this is a second book, there was some repetition of what happened in the first book to make this one have more of a stand alone feeling. I think this could have been done a bit quicker, without as much information packed in from the first book. With that said, I did enjoy the character build and world that we are in with this book. The spice was HOOOOOOT and I loved it.
Thank you for the copy, this is my honest opinion.
I enjoyed reading Give Me a Chance, but I’ll admit, I had mixed feelings about Natalie throughout most of the book. She’s scared of relationships, and for the majority of the story, I couldn’t help but feel like Matt—with his romantic, golden retriever energy—deserved much better. He falls first and gives his all, and I just wanted someone who would appreciate him fully.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
💜 Workplace romance 💜 Cinnamon roll MMC x Man-eater FMC 💜 He falls first 💜 Hate to love 💜 Opposites attract
After reading the first book in this series I was desperate to read book 2, and it did not disappoint. In fact, I think I enjoyed it even more. I really like Nadia writing style and ability to tell an engaging story. This was a great, relatively short read that is perfect to get you out of a slump if needed. I can’t wait to see what else is to come from this series.
💜Enemies to Lovers 💜Opposites Attract 💜He Falls First 💜Workplace Romance 💜Cinnamon Roll MMC ⚠️BDSM ⚠️Sexual Assault (not between MC)
After I read Second Chance, I KNEW I needed a book about Nat & Matt and Nadia did NOT disappoint. The story line was on point and never left me wanting more. I love the way Nat & Matt grew throughout the book, becoming the person they both needed. I was honestly so obsessed with this book, I cannot wait to read more from Nadia.
Nadia did an incredible job writing these two finding each other, figuring each other out, and healing along the way. As a therapist I found myself highlight quotes to send to clients because once you get to that part man she wrote some beautiful lines about trauma healing. I also loved that she showed a side of trauma recovery we don't often see- when trauma makes someone want *more* while being very guarded.
WOW!! I had the pleasure of reading this amazing book by Nadia and what a book! Absolutely amazing! 2 very head strong main characters who are both determined to get what they want! 😉 Brilliant story line, the characters chemistry was off the charts and spice!! 🥵🔥Ohhh she gets 4🌶️ /5 🔥 kept me gripped from the beginning and there may or may not be a first page sex scene 🙈👀🔥 over all 5⭐️ read!!
