Long Live the Queen

Prince Norivun of the Solis Fae had many powerful affinities (abilities) and should have been easily able to overthrow his evil father, but King Novakin used the torture of the Queen against his sons to keep them in line. For years the king appeared to be benevolent and kind and used his powerful son as a scapegoat for all his evils until Prince Norivun found his fated mate who had hidden powers and strength of spirit equal to his own. This was the exciting conclusion to the series and I wasn’t disappointed.

These were all wonderful books full of action and intrigue, magic and romance and Krista street wrote complex lives and characters for the entire series. I had to wait two whole months for this last in the series, but if you haven’t read any of these yet, lucky you they’re all written! I give the series a solid 4.5 for world building, creativity, romance without unnecessary sex scenes and the kind of security action you might see mixing hand weapons with magic. If you like fantasy, action and romance this is a great choice.

That plot twist in the last chapter had me (almost) crying happy tears! Lissy deserved that 🥹 I truly loved this series way more than I thought I was, I really enjoyed the character growth that Ilara had. Her confidence, strength, and power came in full force...I'm just mad she didn't get to use them properly on that witch Georgyanna 😒 Granted there was the dungeon scene but Ilara deserved true redemption… I mean come on even Regina George got hit with a bus 🤣 LOL but seriously though I'm so glad I randomly started this series. 5/5 🌟 💖

It finally came to an end. My heart is warm despite being sad that the story won’t continue. My love for this series will continue though and I encourage any budding fantasy lover to read this series. I highly recommend!!

This story really should have been wrapped up faster. Nothing that happened in this book brought anything new or surprising to the plot. I lost interest in this story a while back, and this did not manage to pique it again. It should have been less books. I skimmed through most of this just because I wanted to see how it ends (even though it’s fairly easy to guess).

It all just feels very lame.

The king continues to be a lame enemy, we don’t see enough of him to actually develop any type of feelings. We’re just told he’s bad and what he’s done and are expected to be satisfied with that. I want a bad guy that I can actually hate, and for that to happen he needs to be a present character. The final “battle” was disappointing. We didn’t even get to see what the king could do, and that just makes him an even more useless enemy.

Ilara being held in the dungeons was lame. It felt completely unnecessary. We never got a sense of time, and it didn’t seem as if she was too affected by it. And it didn’t last very long. In general there’s never any sense of urgency or peril. The plot armour is as thick as ever and nothing can phase our good guys. They will prevail without any consequences on their quest to save the world from a bad guy. Insert the tatatata trumpet here.

The attempt to get the necklace back was lame. No torture, threats or anything. They just locked Nori in his room like he was grounded. There was no plan at all. It’s like watching two petulant kids argue. “Give it back” “No” “Give it back” “No”.

The warlock was a dud. I mean, he didn’t even get a name so it doesn’t even feel as if the author found him that important. Also, he seems quite unintelligent. Did he really think that a bargain stating six other people couldn’t kill him would be enough? He was aware that there were more people in the world (or worlds I guess) than those six?

The rallying of the fae is also quite lame. It feels like a low budget movie where the heroes give their hero speech. And for some reason that’s all it takes to get everyone onboard. I rolled my eyes. And didn’t the fae in Ilara’s village mock and make fun of her appearance before? Now they apparently love her. When did that happen? Shouldn’t they think she was a traitor since everyone else still believes Nori killed her family? And why does the rest of the continent love her? Why? I’m truly asking because I have no idea. I would guess the majority of them didn’t even know she existed. When did she earn their love?

The angel thing was anticlimactic. I thought we were being set up for a big reveal, and then - nothing.

Aside from me feeling the plot was not plotting, I also feel the writing isn’t that good. The dialogue is often used as exposition or to recap things that happened in the previous books. This makes it feel stilted, no one talks like that in real life. And the attempts at banter and camaraderie fell flat in my eyes. I feel like the author tries to evoke some emotion by for example mentioning the lost warrior, but it falls short as it is forgotten by the next page.

In conclusion, this was a disappointing ending to this story. It felt rushed, there are too many loose ends and it kind of felt like the author (much like myself) wanted it over and done with.

This series fell kinda flat for me most of the twists felt really predictable i guessed most of them before the characters did and the long titles every time someone introduced themselves or made a bargain felt like a way to up the word count. In the end it was ok but I'm not suggesting anyone I know read it.

2.8/5 - this book was tediously repetitive and surprisingly slow paced feeling for how much plot was covered. It was nice to have all the loose ends tied up, but I wish it had been done more cleverly rather than feeling like a checklist.

One word - lackluster

Scenes dedicated entirely to eating and sleeping.

So much filler. A lot felt like regurgitation of the other books.

Ilara being part angel was so anticlimactic- hey Ilara, one of your wings is completely charred, I bet you can heal it. You think so? Ok I’ll try. Wow! My wing is entirely healed the first time I ever tried.

The stupid warlock - didn’t give any new info and confirmed what we already knew. And then torched in an instant.

Ilara and Norivun were separated for only 3 days. They didn’t take her powers away and Nori was basically grounded in his room for not giving Dracu’s necklace back. Lame

Once again we’re thrown into the other realm - humans - where we are forced, once again, to deal with characters from other books. This took me out of the story so much. I hated this with a passion. I just don’t get why this couldn’t take place entirely in the fae realm. This is why I was reading these books!

And the king is bad but we are only told this. We never really get to see why he’s so bad. The king and queen event at the end made me so ragey. Lisandra deserved a better storyline period. Such a fail.

This series only should’ve been 2 books at most. Books 3 and 4 ruined it. Do not recommend.

The fourth and final book in the series and I went in with higher expectations. The plot was super straightforward, almost like an Amazing Race from point A to Z, with barely any setbacks or twists. There just wasn’t that build up I was hoping for leading into the finale.

The romance? Unfortunately, that fizzled too. Once the main couple finally got together, all the tension and banter I loved completely disappeared, and things just got... kind of awkward.

Overall, I’d give the series 3⭐. The last two books really didn’t deliver, the plots felt flat and the writing style got a bit weird. Which is such a shame, because the first two books had so much potential and totally had me hooked.

Court of Winter (Book 1) – 4⭐- review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Thorns of Frost (Book 2) – 4⭐- review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

This series was a massive disappointment. Look at how long it took me to read this particular installment three days actually four days and I read two or three books in between because I had to take a break because this book was so boring that I also ended up skimming The last maybe hundred pages or so I’m gonna also go back and lower my ratings of the first three books because I’m just really disgusted with the whole series and disgusted because it’s such a disappointment. One thing I forgot to mention in my review of the third installment, which holds true to this installment, as well as the first two books are all from Lara‘s POV and book 3 we switch to dual POV, which normally I like, and especially in these fantasy novels and especially when the two main characters get split up, I feel the dual POV is necessary. However, the chapters are so brief it’s like you’re reading three pages from Alara‘s POV and then three pages from Norris’s POV and then three pages from hers and then three pages from his the chapters are so freaking quick. You’re flipping back-and-forth faster than a tennis ball during a tennis match And then book for it really was unnecessary because the two of them are together the whole time so we didn’t need to flip back-and-forth quite as often and if you have two consecutive chapters from the same POV make it one motherfucking chapter, I cannot stand these five page chapters. It’s so stupid you don’t need to end everything on a freaking cliffhanger, as I realized more and more throughout the series how stupid these characters are, it was just increasingly increasingly more obvious and almost impossible to read and tolerate in this final installment, you know we’ve got Alara and Nori, plus their guards and their big idea to take down the king and the throne him is oh we’re just gonna rely on the people we’re gonna just go tell everyone hey, he’s really bad that kings a bad guy and we’re gonna rely on them to spread the word throughout the entire continent, it was just like the weakest thing ever I believe I mentioned this and maybe the book review about how overall week the story is and it’s very true. The plot is embarrassingly weak so again, these people, with all of these powers and all of these skills have to outsource the solution to people from the other realm, yet again, so basically a repeat of what happened in book 3, and book 3 they had to go get the fire wolf to take care of the warlock, and in order to get to the fire wolf they had to go to that guy from the other continent And they had to do that same thing again it was very redundant and then again with the constant sex which it would be fine if it was good, I really didn’t buy end of the heat between these two characters, my mate, my mate, my mate. Geez, I could’ve started a freaking drinking game from how many times the two of them referred to themselves that way Just because they become your spouse and they’re your mate. It doesn’t mean that they stop having a name and over and over repetition I sent this feeling down through our bond our meat bond I mean oh gosh it was just ridiculous and it was entirely predictable like I think I mentioned in the book 3 review that you really realize how stupid these characters are, when they figure out How to fix or they figure out what was holding back Lara‘s power, and what was killing the crops, but no one at that time thought oh maybe this is the same thing that is happening to the queen no, that didn’t happen until the queen was like a breath away from dying And Al is healing her and then finds oh it’s the same thing it was just so dumb and it doesn’t make me respect the characters at all and then that healed her wing and has been told that she has healing abilities yet they come across the queen, who is on her deathbed, and it doesn’t occur to her until forever oh maybe I can heal her too. Oh go fetch my instructor who can help me you know it was just really ridiculous because it was dramatized how badly injured the queen was and they’re all sitting around wasting time basically crying about this and then Al is like do you think I could heal her? Oh my gosh could I do it? Do you think I could do you think I really can get my instructor And they waste all that time doing that and then they have this whole conversation with the instructor. Meanwhile, the queen is literally bleeding out. It was just very frustrating to read this only for the queen to seemingly sacrifice herself pages later I just really feel like it all is a byproduct of a super weak plot because then we end with the queen living under an illusion so she can live by herself like that’s not really any kind of life either, yeah she is some unknown woman but why live under an illusion like you’re not gonna be queen anymore that’s fine you know and I kind of expected she was going to be the one to take down the king but maybe she didn’t have to kill him maybe I don’t know she could’ve you know Had some sort of know her testimony, since everyone was relying on words anyway, that was another thing that really aggravated me the way that they were going about trying to throw the king we’re just gonna show up to the council meeting and we’re gonna show them our footage and we’re just gonna use our words and rely on that to convince everyone and then of course the king escapes and then suddenly has like this army or whatever and then they fight this huge battle when it’s really like what hundreds thousands of soldiers against the six people that didn’t make any sense and then the battle ends and then all the rebel 10,000 rebel soldiers suddenly show up I mean it was ridiculous. It was just so ridiculous And I was so tired of all of the modern day terminology that these characters use and you know I just I really couldn’t stand it what I’d hoped was going to be a promising series that I would enjoy ended up being really a joke and an insult to the genre, and again you know I feel like the author is a victim of poor editing just because you’re a writer doesn’t mean you’re an editor just like because you’re an editor doesn’t mean you’re a writer the two rules really have to work together and this writer the quality of her work is great. I mean she can construct a sentence, you know I didn’t feel like I was reading some highschoolers fanfiction. It just needed some finesse and needed some polish. It needed some structure. It’s like she wrote this. Someone proofread it and then I got published and there was really no editing involved because I’m convinced a strong editor would’ve been like look, you know Allah is going to be queen OK this is not a frat house and that’s what it often was like when it was her and Nori and the guards like you can have camaraderie that is not centered around sex. Hey guys give me some space with my wife I want a Boner I mean that’s pretty much what he said, and it was just you know very cheap. It was just very very cheap. This installment is going to get actually a one star I may go back to book 3 and lower that to one star the series overall one star would not recommend.

❝ And as the moon shone down on us, and Ilara gazed up at me with tears in her eyes, I knew that no matter what might come for us, in the end we would always have each other and our family. And that . . . that would always be enough. ❞

⇢ I DEVOUREDDDDD this book. I couldn’t put it down! I’m going to be thinking about Ilara and Norivun forever. Everything wrapped up nicely and I’m so glad it ended the way it did. I wish we got another chapter or two though. The king got what he deserved and I’m SO happy queen Lissandra was the one to take him out! THE FOUND FAMILY. UGH. I loved the banter between the whole crew. Them venturing to earth and being so confused had me CRACKING UPPP!!!

⇢ This series as a whole was amazing and I enjoyed every second of it. The magic, the world building, the characters… I couldn’t get enough. Reading these books with my best friend was so fun. ♡❄️

He didn’t speak for me, and I knew this would be how we ruled our land. Both of us leading.

“Never in all of the winters that I’ve walked on this realm have I ever felt anything close to the love I feel for you, Ilara.”

“You’ll never hurt a female again.” I snapped Vorl’s thumbs back with a wrenching twist. FINALLY.

“Fuck, you stink,” the hunter said quietly. “Has anyone ever told you that?”

“Your parents would be scandalized if they knew I wanted to ravish their daughter in their living room.”

I wondered what I’d done in this realm and the next to deserve the pure joy that was radiating through me.

“I will worship your body until the day I die.”

for this one night we let the stars call to our souls and let the mating bond soothe our nerves. For this one night, everything was perfect.

Nish scowled. “I am human. I am not a sweet sustenance, thank you very much.”

She laughed softly, and the sound was like a soothing balm to my soul.

- fated mates
- governmental corruption

quotes:
My death affinity rose, and I said on a low growl, “You’re not to touch her. I’ll kill you if you do.”

She laughed softly, and the sound was like a soothing balm to my soul.

Nish slugged Ryder in the side. “My mother always told me that my personality was like a fine wine.” “What do you think she meant by that?” Haxil arched an eyebrow. “That it was best left on the shelf to age and never be opened?”

"Anybody with decent taste in books is worth a second chance.”

The Fae of Snow & Ice – Full Series Review

**SPOILER FREE REVIEW**

With lips pressed to my ear, the prince said, “You’re strong. You’re powerful. And you’re mine. Don’t forget that.”

The Fae of Snow & Ice Series is our first Fantasy Romance by Krista Street, and we’ll now be adding to her to our list of ‘want to read’ authors.

We enjoyed this enemies to lovers, slow burn romantic fantasy. It had it all. Wonderful world building, Gods, Kings, Faeries, Angels, Warlords galore! Not to mention the spice, the chemistry together, a morally grey commanding Fae Prince who’d lay down his life for the woman who had his heart. Yep, it was all going on in this series!

’The possessiveness I felt for her was unparalleled.’

The first two books, Court of Winter and Thorns of Frost are both single POV from Ilara, whilst Wings of Snow and Crowns of Ice (Books 3 & 4) is a dual POV from Ilara and Nori.

”You amaze me more and more every day.”

Prince Norivun Deema Melustral Achul, first son of the king, Bringer of Darkness, Death Master of the continent, is the Crown Prince, next in line to one day be King. His father rules with a cruel iron fist, yet it is Prince Norivun who is feared by those in the Fae lands, but why? We were eager to uncover all that lay beneath this man!

’Death and violence seemed to walk hand in hand with the crown prince.’

Ilara Seary, daughter of Mervalee Territory blames Prince Nori for the loss of her parents and brother. She’s still grieving with her sister Callie when Prince Nori happens into her town. He requests her to return to his lands with him – not that she had much choice!

The Fae lands are on the cusp of war. Their lands in Isaleehave died, and the Fae are starving. With the lands decimated, they need a miracle, and Nori believes Ilara may be able to help. But how can a girl labelled as ‘defective’ in the eyes of Fae be of help?

”I will protect you with my life.”

We loved the storytelling and the banter between the Nori, the Crown Prince of the Winter Court. Nish, Sandus, Ryder and Haxil were the perfect foil for the serious Nori.
In a land where Affinity means power, and the title of King brings out the worst in the Fae, there were battles, twists and turns aplenty! Whilst it did, at times, feel a little repetitive, this series kept us enthralled to the end.

This one was probably 3 ⭐️’s for me, but I’ll round it up to a 4 as a whole series rating. Everything wrapped up really nicely which I loved. Book 1 and 2 were definitely my favorites so I was a little sad that I didn’t love 3 and 4 as much. I’d still totallyyy recommend this series to anyone who wants a good Fae escape! Loved the world and characters so much and the ending for the Queen 😭😍

Did I hate the series? No. Did I love it passionately? Also No. However, it is a decently written series and has all the aspects for a good fantasy romance. I found the book was dragging on in some aspects, and events were too disjointed with some characters being too surface level. However the world building and plot elements were interesting.

Review for the whole series:

Really loved this series. Easy and fun read, was almost a 5 star series bar the fact it was a little repetitive at times. May have felt more repetitive considering I read the series in a week. Loved the diversity of characters and how they all interact in the Fae world.

some of the scenes were really cringe, like the disney level, jumping up on top of a table to sing randomly sorta type. But it was a sweet read. I liked the fact that both Ilara and Norivun are considered equals in all aspects and not just Norivun just cause he's a male.

This is a review that covers the entire series. A 3 at best.
Everything was just too easy. Any problem that came up was resolved too fucking easy.
Spoiler: not Jack Dawson. Don’t paint me like one of your French girls.

Also fake deaths are fucking lame.

Anyone that gave this more than 3 stars, needs to read some real fantasy. Good god.

Spice was also mid as fuck and we waited too long for it.
