She’s different from the other wolves. And she’s cursed to be mine… The moment I lay eyes on her, I want to kill her.
I told her my darkest secrets. How my pack is cursed. How, if I don’t kill the enemy alpha soon, our pack will remain forever trapped as wolves, unable to shift into our human forms.
But now is not the time for regret. Phedra, the enemy pack’s little pariah, has tricked me into revealing my secrets, and she must pay.
My fangs flash in the moonlight as they sink into her sweet flesh, knowing this is what she deserves.
The beautiful traitor.
Only Phaedra doesn’t die. She shifts into the most breathtaking wolf I’ve ever seen, looking as startled as I am. It's almost like she’s never shifted before.
Then we see them. The fated mate marks. And suddenly I understand that I’m more cursed than I realized…
I probably would rate this 3.5 stars, because overall, the idea is brilliant. The execution however...don't get me wrong, I was immersed in Isle Royale immediately, but both MCs were whiny and both wanted the same thing but weren't able to tell the other. The twists were good, but I feel like the ending was a bit lackluster and simply a rush to get it all out.
I'm assuming this story was originally published in two books, which explains why it's being called a duet although there's only one title. Part 1 was much more enjoyable than Part 2. As the story progressed, the details got more and more impractical and inconsistent. Unfortunately, the problem of missing words and improper punctuation I complained about at 5% never improved. Honestly, the book gets 3 stars because the premise is unique. Otherwise, the lack of editing and the illogical plot would have dropped it to 2 stars. I lost interest halfway into the 2nd book but decided to finish anyway.
If you enjoyed this author, The Wolf King is a much better story.
Phaedra was adopted and grew up in high wolf society and had a chosen mate in the alpha’s heir however when it came time for her shift into her wolf, she was unable to do it being humiliated and banished to Den City. She is alone with no family or no friends and after having grown up in a very privileged lifestyle was struggling to make it on her own. Five years later, she was doing her best scraping by picking up jobs cleaning or babysitting but also decided to make a little extra money pretending to be the goddess Holo at her statue to those that needed some hope. Phaedra was so close to having enough money to get out of this area and over to the mainland when she made a mistake and accidently revealed herself at the statue. But she didn’t just reveal herself to anyone but the enemy alpha to her territory and after he spilled his deepest darkest secrets about how his pack was cursed.
Asher was losing hope in what to do to save his pack from a curse that he inherited after his father’s death and he took over as pack leader for the Dagger pack. They were all losing control over their ability to shift been human and wolf and to his horror some were going feral. Asher made one last attempt at the statue of Holo to beg for help in getting rid of the curse but thinking he was alone and not baring his soul to the outcast of the Wilcox pack he was furious when she accidently revealed herself. As he goes to make sure she can’t reveal his secrets, he lunges to kill her but sinks his fangs into her shoulder only to have her transform into a wolf and the most beautiful one that he has ever seen. However when she turns back, they both realized they now have fated mate marks. Asher is horrified as he already has a chosen mate that he is supposed to be getting ready to finalize plans with and merging her pack to his. By having a fated mate, Phaedra could jeopardize all his alliances and plans to save his cursed pack.
With the mate marks being revealed, this sends Phaedra into heat forcing the two into having to spend time together to provide relief from the mate pull. However, the two of them fight their attraction to the point where you want to just smack them upside the heads because neither of them feel that they are worthy of the other due to their pasts. They both talk themselves into breaking the bond for the best of the other person without actually communication to each other but also neither of them want to sacrifice their dreams or hopes. Both of their secret mating comes to light with Asher’s pack and with the Alpha of Phaera’s former pack and just sends everything into chaos.
The author gives a ton of wonderful characters, villains and the storyline itself is fantastic with fated mate shifter romance, rejected mates, danger, twists that you don’t see coming and enemies to lovers. I really enjoyed this book and loved that the characters grew over the course of the book to realize they were both worth so much more than they realized but even better together!
This was not well written. Overall storyline is a good concept, but was not pulled off well at all. Long, drawn out, and annoying main characters, Phaedra and Asher. They have a true mate bond, something that’s said to be so rare yet neither recognized that and were quick to break it. Phaedra had no wolf until Asher, five years past the time she should have gotten her wolf and not once does Phaedra question where wolf has been? Why just now getting it when bitten by Asher? Nothing, even after she was told in a nightmare dream about needing to find her inner power. Things just drag on. It didn’t make sense. Phaedra was justified in her upset finding how Asher did what he did, but jumps to break a bond that was just completed? After she came to can’t stand how she was arranged, but mad at Asher when he didn’t want to continue with an arrangement since he and Phaedra were true mates? Asher’s response didn’t make sense either. Their back and forth became tiresome. Unnecessary. Ridiculous. The ex-chosen Selene steals from his pack after throwing a fit for no longer being wanted by Asher as a mate, and he’s trying to get back an alliance with her? His pack knows she stole from them after they’ve been ensuring the ex-chosen’s pack was being helped by them but acts a fool about Asher not continuing with her? And his beta is untrustworthy pining after who was his alpha’s chosen mate, falls in love with her?! And Penny being into Seline? No and such nonsense. Why? Seline betrayed an entire pack that would be their demise because she was butthurt over Asher, this was pointed out by Penny then she turns right around and lusts after Seline why? Zero sense Phaedra promised her Pix friend not to give the witch anything of her, does so first chance she gets despite told not to and what to do instead yet doesn’t so much as consider it and never mentions it or thinks on it, doesn’t say anything of it when recounting all that happened? Phaedra never worries about it? It was unbelievable that another who ended up speaking to her, namely her aunt, didn’t say how stupid she was for doing that. Only hints at another getting control of her. The Pix mentions it, but no talk of what the witch could do with it or trying to get it from her? No concern with what she was doing with it. Really? Asher finds out the enemy alpha is his uncle, but not then realizing that means Connor is his cousin as well? Apparently Connor’s been clueless. Never any time he’s clued in either. Events unfold that just do not enhance the story, story just lagged, execution poor. Lots of skimming and skipping to get through, hate not finishing a book, almost said this was going to be one I didn’t. Again, skimmed and skipped over a bunch of filler writing to finish. No more with this author. Read another before and writing didn’t improve.
Beautiful Traitor is a nicely written Paranormal Fantasy Romance that follows the story of MFC Phaedra who was cast out of high wolf society for being unable to shift and deemed as human. Surviving alone for years in Den City she struggles to save enough money to leave Isle Royale with her goal tantalizingly within reach. Until the night her little side gig gets her in trouble with the alpha of the Dagger Pack MMC Asher, and results in a bite that binds them as fated mates, which then opens up a whole new world of issues for them both. I enjoyed the story which was immersive and filled with shifter pack politics, intrigue, angst, romance, magic, family dynamics, and well crafted characters populating a narrative that is sure to keep the reader engaged.

An outcast because she can't shift Phaedra is determined to leave the Pack and start a new life until an encounter with Asher, the Alpha of a rival pack, changes her plans and her life forever, hurling her into a prophecy that has implications that has far reaching consequences for everyone. If you like shifter stories involving gods and other magical creatures then this is for you. Well written and full of action, drama, intrigue and a touch of angst. This book has everything you would expect from Lindsey Devin and more. Be prepared for a late night as you won't be able to put it down.

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to read this book when I first read the title but I decided I better give it a try because I like this author. Usually I will read 20% of a book before I decide whether I like it or not, but I could not even get to that with this one. The characters in here drove me crazy. They had a hate relationship, but yet they kept running to each other because all they wanted to do was have sex. That was so annoying. I felt like I was reading stuff about high school again. Unfortunately, since I didn’t read anymore of this book, I couldn’t decide whether it got any better or not.
I really love the story concept, but it needs editing rather severely. A good editor could remove about a third of the book without losing anything important. It's very long and drawn out and I found myself skimming pages, and jumped from about the 1/3 point to the 2/3 point without losing any content that felt like it mattered.
However, I was invested enough in the story to want to see how it turned out. The author has a great concept, but spends way too much time developing unnecessary material.
After being rejected by her family and the high wolf society that she grew up in, Phaedra wanted to escape and leave it all behind. Asher can see that the curse is making his pack worse and is desperate to break it. The first half had a lot going on and was fast paced. Unfortunately the second half, the plot is dragging a bit. It is still a good story overall.

A fantastic story full of strong emotions, adventure , action and romance with enough twists and turns to keep you on your toes and reading long after you should have stopped . Lots of reading matter as it is a two part story and each the length of a normal novel . This is one not to be missed by fans of paranormal romance and adventures.

This was a good story, but unfortunately it was written poorly. The overall plot and storyline were good, characters were pretty well developed, and it held my attention well, but the constant errors and poor writing/editing were very annoying and several times I almost gave up and DNF.
This was a pretty good duet! There were a few grammatical errors & incorrect wording but honestly it was easy to see past that! This story was so good & had such angst. I genuinely enjoyed the duet very much. I highly recommend reading it if you’re down for an intriguing story with some hard fought for love.
The characters were fun and the descriptions for love and love making are sweet. Drags a lot. Over and over again they struggle with love and fight it. It’s kind of annoying. But they always go back to each other, why not just let them. It was frustrating and not enjoyable with all the repetition. Skipped over a lot.
This book captivated me, and I felt eager to discover the unfolding journey of the main characters. Their struggle to embrace their love was both frustrating and compelling, motivating me to read on with passion and determination. If you enjoy werewolf mate stories, this is a wonderful read.
I was drawn into the story from the start. The character written in a way that they came to life in my mind. I laughed with them and wanted to cry with them and at a couple points wanted to line them up and smack them down the line..lol. Some of the story was predictable but the twists made up for that. Overall, it was a great story.
I really enjoyed this book the character and world building drew you in and got you invested in them and it was a nice change to see them honour a different god aside from the Luna. Would’ve liked an epilogue at the end but otherwise a really good read.
The storyline gets more heated as it goes along , I thought a touch slow at first but I’m so glad I kept reading was definitely worth it ….. can we get some more books to continue the story?
I loved it. It had me so enthralled with their story. I hated the evil people and loved the funny sweet and supportive people who helped the main characters which had me cheering them to beat their oppressors
This was different to other shifter books I read but it infused the old gods and lore that I love. Exciting and full of twist I really enjoyed this read.
