Bonds of Beauty and Blood

Rate this book
A spicy love letter to unmasking and unleashing feminine rage. Sylvie Hart doesn’t want much in life.
A steady income and an apartment out of the slums of Erus would do.
But when her two alluring and dangerously provocative bosses claim she is theirs—sworn by fate and soon-to-be bound by blood—she is thrust into realms she could only dream of, or read about in her spicy books.

Unexpected proximity forces them together, while blood-sworn betrothals and fae promises threaten to tear them apart. That and the demon hybrids. Yet when unseen voices demand violence, Sylvie is compelled to follow or risk losing everything—her life included.

Betrayal and cruelty lead to unwanted self-discovery and devastating power. When caged trauma is unleashed, Sylvie must use her past as fuel to fan her inner flames or risk being burned to ashes.

Bonds of Beauty and Blood is the first book in a darkish- fantasy romance series of five books with fae, vampires, and shifters. This why-choose series contains violence, discussion of traumatic themes, mature language, and spice. Beware the cliff.

This one will grab you keep ahold of you until the last page have been turned it will keep you guessing asking yourself so many questions. Sylvie is sweet doesn’t realize just how strong she really is until she is tested needless to say she just wants to make enough to move out her apartment in the slums, a steady income, and maybe at some point love would be nice but never did she expect two grumpy bosses to claim her throw into betrayal of family, and a terrible headache Lazuli with evil running through her veins add to that with all the other crazy characters but where are they headed, are the two ho claimed the ones who get her or is there more to her story that she wasn’t told about, why is her sister just horrid, and where are they headed?

“Bonds of Beauty and Blood,” by Mikayla Everitt

I really liked this book. It is a fantasy co-worker MFM book. The book is mostly about smut and the story plot took a back seat to the characters and the relationships. It has BDSM themes and a why choose between her two bosses that are not human. Very entertaining read. 4 out of 5 stars.

I didn’t know what to expect, but WHOOOOOOO CHILD I DID NOT EXPECT THAT!!!! And I say that in the *BEST* way.

I just knew that Sylvie wasn’t going to be able to resist her hot and grumpy boss. But what I didn’t expect was LITERALLY EVERYTHING ELSE?! Like omg. The different realms. The way time runs differently between them.
That infuriating evil bench Lazuli. The grumpy and guarded sister. Sylvie’s heritage?!
My goodness it was SO MUCH but I really enjoyed it. The world building was so interesting. Having so much of the story take place in a modern hi-rise was a choice that really paid off. So interesting. The descriptions and the peace woven into the fae court was amazing. The difference between Kian’s court and the stone court was incredibly well done and I could feel how depressing the stone court was from the descriptions.

And then when I thought we were getting a nice wrapped up and peaceful happy ending? THE ABSOLUTE BOMBSHELL THAT GOES OFF COULD NOT HAVE SHOCKED ME ANY FURTHER! I finished the book and I was internally SCREAMING. Trying to hold in that scream at 10 at night physically pained me and it’s paining me again while writing this because *EEEEEEEEE WTFFFFFFFF OMMMMMMGGGG*****

Anyway. The steam is a solid 3.5-4 chili peppers.
The world building is excellent.
The story line is original, and extremely interesting.
The bad guys feel like they’re coming out of the cracks of the world and I am LOST TO IT.
Great book. I can’t wait until the next one!.

This book was anything but predictable. As soon as you think you have a handle on what’s going on and what is coming, you get thrown through a loop. I LOVED it. There were so many good things about this book, but the world building and characters were my favorite. Definitely looking forward to the next one and definitely recommend.

I loved how the beginning there was a Trigger warning for the readers. The novel was very much romance with some spice, wouldn’t say erotica romance or spicy. This book, guessing is book 1 of a series is mainly focused in the Fae realm, doesn’t really include shifters too much or other fantasy other than Elias, the Vampire mate. This book really digs into bringing together different creatures, starting with the Fae world.

Some times the book feels like it’s switches from narrator to Sylvie’s POV without intent.

Sylvie had a very good character arc that I think will continue to build within the next book!.

Hot men that are irresistibly around work. I loved the fae world building and the background you get answered slowly through this read. I'm not a big fan of a slow burn, but in the end the building was worth it. I am excited to read book 2, there is a cliffhanger.

Sylvie, 26 years old human, is in for a surprise on her home planet Erus. Magical creatures like Fae, Vampires and Demons are real.

Her boss, Elias is a Vampire and her other boss Kian is from the Fae realm.

A lot of things happen in this book. The inner musings of Sylvie don’t always match up with her doings and throughout the book I got confused as to where we were and what was happening.

Both Kian and Elias are her fated mate and kindred. The fae realm is led by Kians mother, Queen Katarina, who doesn’t believe in fated mates.
Kian is betrothed to Lady Lazuli of the Stone court since they were young, but something seems off about her and her claw like fingernails.

A lot of twists and turns in this book with a huge plot twist at the end, that is a cliffhanger.

The writing style didn’t excite me as much, as I kept putting this book down and don’t know yet if I’ll be interested in reading book 2.

This is a fabulous debut novel from Mikayla Everitt.

For the first half of the book, I did feel that I would have really liked a lot more world-building, but considering this is solidly from Sylvie's POV, she is a bit clueless as to the world, and we finish the book with still needing to learn a LOT about how the various worlds actually work, and also needing to learn more about Elias and Kian's characters. I really would like to learn a lot more about them.

That said, this is certainly action packed! There is fair amount of angst and pining, and tension between Sylvie and Elias and Kian is well done, and we do learn a fair bit about potential BDSM aspects to come, but this was a lot less explicit than I was anticipating.

A great read overall, and I'm looking forward to the next book in the series, especially considering the cliffhanger we're left one... ;).

This book was a fun read! I was not sure initially as it started with a Fifty Shades of Grey vibe. Once the fantasy plot picked up though I sped through the rest of the book!

I loved Kian and Elias but Sylvie was a bit submissive for my taste. I think this was more ofn a personal thing since I tend to prefer a strong female lead.

The world was magical and I loved the descriptions and Sylvies connection to nature. I think this book hits a spot for any druid lover. It sure did for me.

Sylvie was the unsuspecting human, Elias was the grumpy vampire, and Kian is the charming fae prince. The story really gave me mixed feelings. The plot was ok but it was the characters that really didn't do much for me. They didn't have much dimension. It does get better towards the end but it was a rough start for me.

Book one of the triad series. This book goes beyond the whole romance, sexual book of reading it to the character being a character of one of the books. It’s a different kind of adult romance that brings questions of how do you get a vampire in one person. I look forward to reading more to see what.

The plot was interesting but I had some difficulty connecting with the MMC's at first. There're surprises, OW drama and a high cliffhanger at the end. I'll be reading book 2 to find out what happens next.

DNF. The synopsis was interesting but the writing was stilted and unappealing. I think this would have benefitted from some serious edits.

I didn’t really know what to expect going into this story, and safe to say, I judged the cover and the title a little as I was not expecting a modern city and office job as the initial backdrop.

This story had excellent intrigue, with mysteries galore: unknown families, multiple mates when there haven’t been records of that in years… I need answers as to why she’s so special and who Sylvie really is and I need them now!!

Bring on the next book🤗 because that cliffhanger was a surefire way to make me come back for more!

Darlings, let me tell you about Bonds of Beauty and Blood by Mikayla Everitt – and believe me, this one had me doing double takes from the start.

So, confession time: I found this gem through TikTok, because who can resist an author whose excitement for her debut is as infectious as a catchy pop tune? Naturally, I preordered it. But, as fate would have it, it had to wait in line behind my ever-growing TBR pile. Finally, yesterday, I picked it up at 7pm and let me tell you, by 4pm today? Finished. Hooked. Donezo. But here’s the kicker – it didn’t grab me right away. For the first few pages, I was thinking, “Wait, isn’t this supposed to be a fae book? Why am I stuck in a boring office with a grumpy boss?”

Oh, sweetie, was I wrong! This book morphs from dull office romance into a Fifty Shades of Grey meets ACOTAR-esque romantic fantasy, and I am living for it! Sylvie (or should I say Sylvia? IYKYK) is no ordinary heroine, and honey, when I say there was no way she could resist her boss Elias – the brooding, grumpy vampire boss with leadership skills for days – I mean it. I saw that coming from a mile away. But hold up, because Everitt wasn’t done. Enter Kian, a fae with a heart of gold, stuck in a promise his father made to marry someone else. Talk about complicated, right?

The chemistry between these three? Oh my stars. It was sizzling in all the right ways, and yes, we’re talking about a throuple situation here, folks. And just when you think everything’s about to tie up in a neat little bow, BAM – cliffhanger alert. Everitt knows how to keep you on your toes and salivating for more.

Bonds of Beauty and Blood brings the spice, the drama, and, of course, the fae, vampires, and shifters you didn’t know you needed. If you're looking for a romantasy that will have you questioning what just happened by the last page, this one is for you. And darling, be ready, because you're definitely going to want to get your hands on the next one.

Bonds of Beauty and Blood captures you right from the start. You are thrilled with anticipation at what should be coming next. The build-up continuously promises it's right around the corner...and then?
High beginnings---ultra slow burn. You constantly crave something to drink after you sink in your fangs!
If you love to be taunted and teased and get no relief, then this is the book for you!
Very entertaining. Likeable, relatable characters. The story bears manifold secrets with a twist ending!

Woo hoo! Cool book. I loved this and was surprised that I liked fantasy again. It's been a while, baby. But I'm under the spell of this story and hooked....hurry up book 2. Cute girl, hunky guys, woodland garden and flowers and slutty clothes and orgies and you know where this leads....don't you? Spice up your life. It's worth it.
