The second half of this book is incredible. Fennrick is so bad at social cues he becomes an epic villain. There’s still room for him to do the right thing… right?

Too much

There is no light. It's just self flaggelation. If the author didn't clearly have a different narrative voice I would have thought they were self indulging. I just can't finish it.

This is more of the same as the first. I enjoy this series, although I do believe you have to have a fairly unique view of the MC to stomach him. I believe that the mc is a realistic display of insanity brought on by trauma. I fear though that I may be giving the author too much credit. Sadly I won't know if this an incredibly well written depiction of mental health with a redemption arc. Or if the author will just double down on the shock factor. I'll stick it out awhile longer but I feel the longer he keeps heading towards the depths of depravity the more readers will start feeling dirty from reading it. Unless you are into that sort of thing.

This series is so perfectly off-putting. Palt does a fantastic job with emotional whiplash. The audio narrator sold Kitty and made for a compelling story. A Beginner's Guide to Beating the Tutorial definitely isn't written or edited like something intended to be marketable and I love it for that. I had no idea what was going to happen at various points. The images of suffering painted by the author rival anything I've ever read in descriptions of hell. Fantastic and horrible.
