Blended with rich history and creative storytelling, this suspenseful saga sweeps readers back and forth between the 1940’s and the 1960’s, and will keep you captivated until its final conclusion.
Other than writing, I love to travel, spend time with my family (which includes my dog, Opie!), read a book, go on adventures, and eat boiled peanuts. If you've read my books, I truly hope you enjoyed them!
Let me begin by saying this has been my favorite read so far this year. The story was complex yet relatively easy to follow. It tied in so many events, both historically true and fictional that it kept me on my toes the entire time. I picked it up in the local authors section of the bookstore and wasn’t sure what to expect and was so happy to fall for the characters and story inside. While sometimes it felt a bit unbelievable (as all good fiction stories sometimes do) the way the author tied the events (and characters) together was intriguing, well developed, and a thrill to read through. I had a lot of difficulty navigating the time hops and found it frustrating, especially in the beginning when they aren’t well tied together and I felt like I was reading two different books, by the end I was enjoying the two points in time and the authors mystery about the husband, even if it was obvious who it would ultimately be by the Christmas party. The setting was well done as well, and a familiarity with Savannah makes it even more of a thrilling and romantic read. The author managed to throw in romance, complex familial relationships, illness, mystery, thrilling twists and turns (even when foreseen), and likeable, believable characters with fantastic development, a combination tricky to do well. While it took me a bit to get sucked into the story, I finished it in a single afternoon. I’ve already passed it on to my mom and look forward to having other friends, especially those locally, read it as well.

First I want to start out saying I loved this book. I was heartbroken by what happened to her cousin during Pearl Harbor. I can't even imagine how it must of been to go through such an important situation in our history. I absolutely loved how this book ended. I can't wait to read more by her. A must read for the avid book reader. so thumbs way up.
What a heartfelt story. I loved the author’s clever use of rotating between the 1940’s to the 1960’s without revealing the identity of Savanah’s husband. The character development was outstanding. A great read.
Beautiful love story using the ever more popular method of jumping back and forth from the past to the present. I really enjoy this style and this author did a very good job of it.
Live with Savannah as she lives thru childhood trauma entering into the throws of young adult as WWll begins. Savannah, her family and friends will keep you occupied for hours as you grow with them.
Much enjoyed this book Anderson deadly! Edit felt in sync with this authors writing style. Going on to read another of Ms. Elaine's books. Always nice to find a good story teller since rare these days!
A pretty good book. Has a very interesting story. The only thing I didn't care for was it kept jumping from back into the 1940s to current day and I would sometimes get lost in the jump, even though it told me at the beginning of the chapter what year it was.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I had worked until midnight, got home & could not sleep. I started to read this story and didn't stop until I had finished it, after 6 AM! Sometime when life is stressful and crazy and negativity threatens to consume me, my therapy is to escape to another time & place via a book. This one provided a lovely opportunity for that. Both my grandmothers were young women in the World War II era, so it is an era I find fascinating. Strong-minded women. Handsome soldiers. Romance. Tragedy. Americans still unified, still honorable. I love a good romance (classy, not smutty) and yes, a happy ending! When the right people end up together. Thoroughly enjoyed this book, and have been re-reading my favorite parts!

Knowing the author’s family and being familiar with the city of Savannah, made this book even more enjoyable. I’d definitely recommend this book to anyone wanting to curl up with a good book.
I really don't like the switching between the past and the present. They was all I did not like about this book. Well written, suspenseful, who was her beloved husband? Learned more about the attack on Pearl Harbor. I never thought about what the doctors and nurses and patients actually went through in those days. Good book. Will read more of her books.
Such a beautiful and captivating story. I loved the familiar environment, learning about each character, and hanging by a thread waiting to learn who Savannah Rose would spend her life with. I laughed and cried throughout the story. I just couldn't stop reading. Such passion and detail written in each chapter! You must read!
I enjoyed this book..There was certainly a lot going on..A lot of tragedy and sadness but it kept me interested to see how things would turn out..There were many characters and sometimes I would forget who was who but that might be just me..The characters were well drawn and all in all a good read..
I thought the book had a very good story line, however a little over the top! I suppose that is certainly what fiction is about and therefore I hope Ms. Elaine will not be insulted. I takes a lot of patience to write a novel .Be well during this pandemic
Wonderful book! Very descriptive and an enjoyable read. Kept my attention through out the whole book and I didn't have the mystery figured out until the very end!
The author did a good job concealing who the killer was until the end and who Savannah marries. I couldn’t put it down, as I wanted to uncover the details. Savannah was so brave to cut it off with Jake , even after his perseverance.
This was such a beautiful story. The characters, the timeline and the beautiful Savannah, Ga setting. I didn't want to put it down. Can't wait to read the second book.
I enjoyed this book because my parents grew up during this period. I hope you will be writing more of these ww11 stories . I can imagine it was so hard in the depression era but I think people were made stronger enduring war and poverty. They paved the way for a better life for us.
The description of history being made was absolutely breathtaking! The story touched the heart and was well written! Must read for fans of great stories!
I absolutely loved this book! It was a great combination of history, intrigue and romance. The main character, Savannah Adair, was a beautiful person inside and out and you felt her pain and happiness. Just a good solid well written book.
