Volume 2 covers some of the most important revelations given to Joseph Smith. These sacred communications involved teachings vital to the Church such as the law of consecration, the nature of scripture, the location and purpose of the city of Zion, and the doctrine of eternity. Fascinating aspects of the Restoration, like Joseph Smith’s efforts to translate the Bible, the quest to build the New Jerusalem, and the vision of the three degrees of glory, are all described in their proper context. As more and more faithful Saints gathered to the banner of the gospel, they in turn received light and truth, helping them learn of the transformative power of Jesus Christ and His atoning sacrifice. These revelations show that even as the early Saints gazed into visions of eternity, they also focused on the real problems of helping the poor and needy, gathering the righteous, and preparing the world for the Savior’s Second Coming.

Volume 2 contains the complete text of Doctrine and Covenants 41–76 with verse-by-verse commentary. It also includes an appendix with the poetic version of section 76, written by Joseph Smith and W.W. Phelps.

I’m absolutely loving this series! Volume 2 takes everything up a notch. I could spend hours just on Sections 45 and 46. The author masterfully blends historical context with insights from modern prophets, making it such a joy to study. No more juggling multiple commentaries—I’ve got everything I need in one place! I can’t wait to use this for the *Come Follow Me* study next year. Big thanks to Cedar Fort for the ARC! My thoughts are all my own.

Loved the first volume and may love this even more! I could have spent hours just on Sections 45 and 46 alone. I love that the author not only gives the historical context for each section, but also adds modern day prophets' comments and insights. What a pleasure it is to have a single volume to study from instead of multiple commentaries and my heavy quad. Can't wait for all the volumes of this series to use with the Come Follow Me study of the Doctrine and Covenants next year. Thanks to Cedar Fort for providing an ARC of this marvelous book! I love this series! It opens each chapter with historic context and then goes into verse by verse commentary with the actual scriptures in the text as well. I love when study books do this instead of having to flip back and forth between two books. The insights are fantastic. They are simple yet profound! Would recommend this! I recieved an advanced readers copy of "The Doctrine and Covenants: Volume 2" but these opinions are my own.

A continuation of the Doctrine & Covenants commentary. Volume 2. focuses on the church’s migration west from New York to Ohio due to persecution. The commentary describes early missionary efforts and questions that Joseph Smith brought to the Lord for resolution. It is well researched using The Joseph Smith Papers and quotes from leaders of the church.

I love all the extra information that is brought into this commentary from prophets, church history and other reliable records that help me to understand and be more dedicated in living the teachings in the Doctrine & Covenants. Knowledge is power and it helps me grow closer to Christ and how He wants me to live to be happier and more helpful to others. An excellent book that a lot of effort was put into to have all this extra information.

This is a great companion to your study of the Doctrine and Covenants. The author gives historical context from the Joseph Smith Papers along with quotes from Church leaders, followed by verse-by-verse commentary on each Section. It's like studying two books in one. Very thorough and well researched. I received an ARC of this book from the publisher, but the opinions are my own.

This volume continues where vol 1 left off. It covers sections 41-76 of the D&C and continues the great backgrounds and commentary that was found in the first volume. Wonderful reading to assist in your studies. I recommend this along with the first volume.

I really like the discussion going on in this book. I also like that the text is right there so you’re not juggling books. The historical information presented in. It allows for a much easier and more interesting understanding of this book of scripture.

This book gives historic context and background for the Doctrine and Covenants, modern revelation and scripture for The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints, and actually for the world. This commentary and the volume before it are really helpful for context and perspective.

It's very much a mid-level commentary. I need something far denser, but nothing like that exists right now.
