je ne répéterai jamais assez combien j’adore cette série de bandes dessinées. de la pertinence des sujets abordés (intimidation, divorce, ici harcèlement, amitié, amour et j’en passe) aux illustrations qui sont si magnifiques, tout tout est beau de cette histoire qui est à découvrir depuis le premier tome. tout ce que j’ai trouvé un peu intense dans ce tome-ci, c’est le harcèlement qu’a subi Enjoy, mais autrement j’ai tout tout tout aimé du début à la fin, encore une fois.
pour n’importe quel ado du premier cycle du secondaire, pour les profs, pour les parents d’ado qui veulent offrir un cadeau à leur ado — à lire simplement et assurément.

Abe is worried that he is "ugly, but nice" because of his acne, even though he fights with his mother when she suggests taking him to a dermatologist. He is enjoying hanging out with Charlie, but things get complicated when Grace asks Charlie to find out who Abe's girlfriend is. Instead of simply replying that the two of them are, in fact, dating, Charlie agrees to find out the information. New student Gabriel is very anxious, and often talking to a figment of his imagination which makes him an easy target for the ever evil Sean. Sean also has a revealing selfie of a girl in their class, and is using it to get information about classmates. He also starts an "ugliest couple" contest. When Adele and Felicity kiss in public, this sends ripples through the school, and Collette approaches the two and says she would rather hang out with them than her usual popular crowd, since they are so "trendy". When Adele gets her period for the first time and has horrible cramps, the male gym teacher makes a joke about it, but Felicity stands up to him, and the two go to the school nurse, who is more sympathetic. When Sean posts the winner of the "ugliest couple" contest, Grace finds out that Abe is seeing Charlie. Lola is interested in Gabriel, but the two are both shy and awkward. When Lola and Grace find out that Sean has pictures of Collette, they manage to get his phone and delete them so she no longer has to do his dirty work and spy on others... but she sends him another one with a text that she is still willing to do his bidding.
Tweens love drama, and this has both friend and romantic relationship drama. Like earlier books in the series, it addresses many social situations like public kisses, period positivity, and a cautionary tale about revealing selfies, but in a French way that is just slightly different from how those issues would be addressed in the US. The manga style artwork is very pretty. Readers who like the graphic novel drama of Raina Telgemaier but aren't quite ready for books like Oseman's Heartstopper will swoon over these titles.

À quel point je capote sur cette parfaite série! D'abord les illustrations sont tellement belles, mais ce qui me plait le plus c'est l'amitié sincère qui se tisse entre les personnages féminins. C'est si beau de voir la solidarité qui émane de ces filles-là, aussi différentes soient-elles les unes des autres. Je ne me tannerai jamais je pense, j'en veux plus plus plus!

Truly a beautifully drawn storyline with something for everyone. I love how this team really draws on the real lives of teenagers and how gaining confidence and self-assurance takes time, and talking about insecurities with trusted friends really does help. Love the friend group and how supportive they are of each other. I cannot wait to read more!

Tout d'abord merci à NetGalley et aux éditions Dupuis pour l'envoi de ce service presse. J'ai été ravie d’avoir pu découvrir cette parution. J’ai été ravie de découvrir Cœur collège de Beka et Maya. Cette bande dessinée jeunesse raconte les péripéties d’un groupe de jeunes adolescentes entre leurs histoires familiales, d’amitiés et de cœurs.

J’ai tellement aimé me plonger dans cette parution graphique et cela notamment grâce au style graphique. Le chara-design absolument merveilleux à regarder. Chaque personnage possède une personnalité et une charte graphique. C’est un gros coup de cœur pour cette réalisation ! Les planches sont tellement harmonieuses et pleines de détails. J’ai aimé que l’histoire tourne autour du domaine de l’art. Néanmoins l’autrice a aussi décidé d’aborder des sujets importants qui peuvent jalonner la vie d’adolescent. Cela a été fait très subtilement et intelligemment afin de véhiculer de bons messages auprès de la jeunesse. Nous pouvons d’ailleurs y voir la représentation de famille divorcée avec le point de vue d’un des personnages mais aussi le sujet plus sombre du harcèlement scolaire. Bien sûr, il est donc soulevé la question de comment réagir, comment agir et faire que cela s’arrête. Chaque situation est bien expliquée et trouve une résolution ou au moins une bonne morale. J’ai aimé aussi que l’histoire tourne autour de l’art sous plusieurs formes. C’est vraiment un bon ouvrage à glisser entre les mains de jeunes adolescents et plus bien sûr.

Annoin tälle sarjalle uuden mahdollisuuden, vaikkei ensimmäinen osa vielä vakuuttanut enkä muistanut hahmoistakaan enää paljoa. Mutta onneksi nämä jatko-osat olivat todella hyviä! Luin osat kaksi ja kolme perä perää, joten en muista enää tarkkaan mikä tapahtui kummassa osassa.

Ce tome parle d'un sujet vraiment important : le harcèlement, le consentement. C'est abordé d'une très belle façon !
On voit aussi plus le personnage d'Enjoy que j'adore, ça m'a fait plaisir.
Je n'en ai pas encore parlé dans mes critiques des anciens tomes mais les dessins sont si beaux ! Je suis absolument fan du travail de Maya, bravo à elle !
Et je suis la seule a avoir un ship pour Enjoy et Adèle ensemble ? Je croise les doigts pour les prochains tomes.......

This book series is severely addicting and I was so thrilled that there was a third book in the series! I loved how Abe was one of the main characters in this one because I have to admit, I was always curious about him. The book got me to truly connect with the characters, especially Adele, making it the perfect graphic novel to add to your shelf or TBR.

The Love Report, Volume 3 by Beka & Maya - Grace, Lola and their friends are continuing to navigate the increasingly complicated world of crushes, relationships, friendship and growing up. But as some relationships develop and others become increasingly unhealthy, their investigation into love begins touching on considerably more serious territory.
By the third volume, I think I've accepted that this series simply isn't going to work particularly well for me.
The artwork remains wonderful. Maya's illustrations are bright, expressive and full of personality, with obvious thought put into everything from clothing and facial expressions to the way individual characters carry themselves. Across all three books, the visual storytelling has consistently been my favourite element. Unfortunately, my concerns about the actual storytelling have only increased.
Jake has been a bully throughout the series, but this volume takes his behaviour somewhere considerably darker. He's obtained photographs of a girl in her bra and is using them to blackmail and manipulate her into doing things for him. At this point we're getting perilously close to territory involving sexual exploitation and image-based abuse between children.
That's an incredibly serious subject to introduce into a book aimed at middle-school readers.
Again, my problem isn't that the subject exists in the book. Young people unfortunately can experience coercion, harassment and abuse, and age-appropriate fiction can be an incredibly useful way of helping them recognise dangerous behaviour.
My problem is what the book does with it.
The girls devise an elaborate plan to access Jake's locker and delete the photographs, only for the girl to send him more afterwards. That could have opened up a genuinely valuable discussion about manipulation, fear, coercive relationships and why someone might return to a situation that is hurting them. Instead, I was left wondering why she'd done it because the story never adequately explored it.
There's also remarkably little meaningful adult intervention throughout the series. The children tend to deal with serious situations among themselves, hide things or lie to their parents, while Jake continues bullying people with seemingly few consequences. One of the things I particularly want children to understand is that when something serious or frightening is happening, there should be safe adults in their lives they can approach for help. I don't expect every children's book to turn into a lesson in safeguarding, but when you're repeatedly depicting situations this serious, the near-absence of trustworthy adult support becomes difficult for me to ignore.
I was also disappointed by what happened to Adele's characterisation. Her art was a huge part of who she was in the first volume. It was how she expressed herself and processed difficult experiences, and her talent became important enough in Volume 2 to take the entire group to Sardinia. Here, it essentially disappears.
There is one lovely little moment when Adele finds a drawing Felicity has made of her and keeps it despite Felicity insisting she's nowhere near as talented an artist as Adele. But that's virtually it.
Adele and Felicity are now together, which could have been particularly interesting in a series specifically investigating what love looks like. Yet their relationship is simply presented without much exploration. There's nothing wrong with queer characters being allowed to exist without their sexuality becoming an Issue, but in a series whose entire premise is children actively analysing different kinds of love and relationships, it seemed like a strangely missed opportunity. Instead, it felt as though Adele's relationship had replaced some of the other things that previously made her an interesting, rounded character.
A new character, Gabriel, also appears with an imaginary warrior/elf-like companion who helps him feel confident. It's visually interesting, but he pops in and out without enough development for me to understand what the storyline was ultimately trying to do with him.
Then there's Abe, who spends much of this volume struggling with acne and the belief that everybody sees him as "ugly but nice", something repeatedly represented visually around him. Once again, there's potentially something worthwhile here about adolescent self-esteem and changing bodies, but it becomes another issue added to a series already overflowing with them without being explored particularly deeply.
After three volumes, I still like Grace and Lola's friendship, and there are individual moments and characters I've enjoyed. But I'm increasingly unsure what the series actually wants to say about love and relationships. There are so many examples of bullying, harassment, coercion, neglect and generally terrible behaviour, particularly from boys, while healthy relationships and appropriate ways of responding to harmful behaviour receive considerably less attention.
I wouldn't personally give these books to a child in the intended age group. That's not because children need to be protected from knowing difficult things exist. It's because if a story is going to introduce issues like sexual harassment, image-based abuse, homelessness, neglect and significant body-image distress, I want it to give young readers enough context to understand those things rather than simply incorporating them into the drama.
The illustrations are still beautiful and easily earn much of my three-star rating.
But after three books, the artwork isn't enough to make me want to continue the series.

Comme toujours dans cette série de BD, on retrouve des thèmes importants liées aux relations sociales, l’amour ou l’amitié. Dans ce troisième tome on a aussi une grande place réservée à l’art, et j’ai adoré toutes ces belles couleurs et cette harmonie ! C’est aussi un tome qui parle de sujets forts et d’actualités comme le harcèlement, le divorce ou le besoin de reconnaissance sur les réseaux sociaux. C’est une lecture doudou que je recommande à tous ceux qui auraient (eu) besoin de se sentir moins seul a l’adolescence. ❤️

J'ai adoré ce tome. Les dessins sont toujours magnifiques. J'ai surtout aimé en découvrir plus sur Charlie et sur Enjoy ! J'ai adoré la manière dont Enjoy a résolu son problème avec Soan, et la réaction d'Adèle ! Charlie m'a fait de la peine.. J'ai aimé aussi que Garance trouve un voisin gentil chez son père.
Cette histoire est toute mignonne et parle de sujets importants comme le harcèlement dans ce tome. J'adore !

J'ai adoré ce tome, je trouve qu'il y a vraiment une bonne évolution entre le tome 1 et ce tome. C'était une lecture cocooning et tendre. J'ai aimé voir Garance et Linon aider les autres - bien qu'Enjoy sache se débrouiller très bien seule !
J'ai adoré les paroles de la chanson de Linon, ça m'a fait fondre.
Et les dessins sont toujours aussi beaux ! J'ai hâte de lire le tome 4 !

Mais elle est trop bien cette bd. Quel dommage d'avoir choisis ce titre qui en rebute plus d'un*e et qui les empêche d'écouter mes super conseils !
Le dessin est génial. C'est une super histoire d'amitié. Ça parle des relations entre humains. Et de toutes les formes d'amour. C'est empouvoirant !

c’est vraiment une très très chouette série - déjà les dessins sont magnifiques, j’adore les couleurs utilisées
et ça aborde pleins de sujets super importants avec justesse, c’est à mettre entre les mains de tous les adolescents !

I don't think I liked this one quite as much as the 2nd one, but it was still great. I did enjoy seeing some of the characters grow and their relationships with each other develop.
As with the others, it was fun, but also dealt with some heavy stuff (more about body image, this time mostly a teen boy who is very self-conscious about his acne; social anxiety; someone sending slightly scandalous pictures, and then the receiver of those pictures using them to "blackmail" the sender, etc.).
For those who were disappointed that the first two books (especially the first book, because the cover art somewhat implies it) didn't have any LGBTQIA+ representation, this one does have some of that.
I didn't quite get/understand the element where one character essentially has an imaginary friend (or is it a hallucination?). It's just kind of weird. It's implied that this is a way this character helps deal with their social anxiety.
I'll also say, one overall vibe of all of the books, and this one doesn't change it much, is that the girls think almost all boys and men are inconsiderate jerks (and, within the books, most boys'/men's actions reinforce this). Also, there aren't any boys who are just friends with the girls, rather than just potential matches. As someone whose best friends through middle school and high school were all girls, I think this is pretty sad. Hmm, I do have to admit that, though we were just friends, I did at some points, "like"/view some of those friends as potential "more-than-friends."

Also, I do realize that, maybe especially in middle school, the majority of boys don't exactly treat girls very well... and it's probably even worse because some boys (and girls) think the way to relate to your crush is to mess with, tease, etc.
I don't think I liked this one quite as much as the 2nd one, but it was still great. I did enjoy seeing some of the characters grow and their relationships with each other develop.
As with the others, it was fun, but also dealt with some heavy stuff (more about body image, this time mostly a teen boy who is very self-conscious about his acne; social anxiety; someone sending slightly scandalous pictures, and then the receiver of those pictures using them to "blackmail" the sender, etc.).
For those who were disappointed that the first two books (especially the first book, because the cover art somewhat implies it) didn't have any LGBTQIA+ representation, this one does have some of that.
I didn't quite get/understand the element where one character essentially has an imaginary friend (or is it a hallucination?). It's just kind of weird. It's implied that this is a way this character helps deal with their social anxiety.
I'll also say, one overall vibe of all of the books, and this one doesn't change it much, is that the girls think almost all boys and men are inconsiderate jerks (and, within the books, most boys'/men's actions reinforce this). Also, there aren't any boys who are just friends with the girls, rather than just potential matches. As someone whose best friends through middle school and high school were all girls, I think this is pretty sad. Hmm, I do have to admit that, though we were just friends, I did at some points, "like"/view some of those friends as potential "more-than-friends."

Is collette supposed to be similar to one of the girls they met in the last book? It seems like it.
I think it’s odd that abe is insecure when he has a girlfriend. Shouldn’t he be asking her about it? It does seem like she doesn’t care about him that much

- Felicity’s sister find her with adele. Turns out felicity has been drawing her for a while
- Charlie is hiding because lola asked her to find out who abe is with. She basically tells them she’s dating him but they don’t put it together

August 22, 2025....holy time skip, Batman.
It just feels like a lot has happened since the last volume, to the point where it almost feels like there's another one skipped in between. really isn't all that of a surprise given the end of the last one, but it still feels out of left field as it wasn't really explored that much (and feels like those "vibes" are somewhat misplaced on the wrong character - or at least there's definitely another character who'd definitely vibe the same, you know exactly who I mean), and certainly really feels just...just a thing they do now. Also, I don't even have to bother with spoiler tags since all of that happens in like, page 3 but whatever.
I feel like, and maybe even get that, a big part of this seeming out of nowhere time jump is intentional - kids do grow up fast at that age, and coming back after a month or two can feel like everything's changed in the meantime. New kids slot in and out all the time. The one thing is Lola - she feels, well, rather stunted compared to everyone else and especially Grace, whom since we still mostly see the story through Lola's eyes, feels stunted in turn, or at least through a lens that can't appreciate how much she's grown, character-wise but also physically and literally. The impression is that Lola is lost as an 8th grader in a sea of high school freshman, including her best friend, and well that might be the point too, I guess.
Also what happened to Nick, you know, the boy Lola was in to all the way back in Vol 1?

Grace has decided to confess her feelings to Abe. But when she shows up to tell him, she overhears him on the phone with someone who cannot be “just a friend”. Grace teams up with Lola to investigate who the mystery girl is and they immediately go to Charlie, the girl who knows everybody’s business. But Charlie has her own secret: she’s dating Abe!
I’m not one to usually care too much about romance, especially in young adult / middle grade, as a thirty-three year-old woman, it’s not my story. But I picked up the first volume of this series simply because of the cover and the beautiful artwork, and even though it has a heavy focus on romance, it’s not only about romance. In this particular volume, Abe actually deals with believing he’s “ugly, but nice”. New student Gabriel talks to a figment of his imagination and of course gets bullied by Sean for it. When Adele gets her period for the first time and has horrible cramps, a male physical education teacher makes a joke of it and refuses to believe her pain. There’s an “ugliest couple” contest going around (run by Sean). Collette even sends a risky photo to Sean, who uses it as blackmail against her.
Besides the amazing artwork and beautiful color pallet, this graphic novel is more than just romance, so don’t let the name scare you off!
Overall, I enjoyed how this book really focuses on the tween drama of “first” loves. Of course, it is with a bit of a French twist, so it's a slightly different viewpoint than America, but still fun and enjoyable. Readers who like Raina Telemaier would also enjoy this as well.
