Ms. Erickson sent me a copy of this book a few years ago, but I didn't start reading it until last week. Sorry Juliet! (I actually don't know her, she just happened to read one of my blog posts about sales and public speaking and offered to send me a copy.)
I would give it a higher rating if not for two things:
1) The pseudo-science on page 47. (Look up dynamind.) 2) A lot of the contents were not new to me. If you've read a lot of sales and marketing books it might not be new to you either.
That said, I did enjoy it and would recommend it to someone who might just be getting started in sales.
A great little book. Juliet gives a quick and extremely well written tour of all the major areas of interpersonal skills and effectiveness. Chances are you know most of them to some degree already, but I suspect there is something new to learn here for nearly everyone. This book is also valuable as a reminder and checklist of communication tricks and tools we should be using on a more or less continuous basis. I will keep it to hand for reference.
I brilliant book which i thoroughly enjoyed reading and i have learned a lot of practical tips and lessons to apply immediately.
I recommend this book to individuals for personal development as well as business owners and students so they can learn about communication skills, presentation skills and negotiation early on in life.
An interesting book about communication and persuasion. I found very useful the chapters about the message structure, right questions and phone conversations. The author has a good professional experience and her advises a very powerful.
If you read sales books before. There is no need for you to read this one. If you just heard about persuasion and you have a business idea which you need to pitch, go for this book! Otherwise will be a lost of time since most of the ideas you already know them if you studied sales and business before.
