That feisty blonde making my life hell is Kathleen, a woman who seduced me twelve years ago. Seduced and left me in one of the most embarrassing situations of my life.
I don’t hold a grudge. Not really. How can I, when I still find myself staring at her every time she’s around? How can I want her to leave my presence when all I think about is her watching my every move, studying me… wanting me?
Oh, I still want her too. I need to have her like I need this air to breathe. There’s just one problem.
She’s a Domme.
I have no idea how to seduce a woman I refuse to let be in charge!
KATHLEEN ALLEN
Ira is smug, condescending… and so obnoxiously gorgeous that I can’t stop thinking about her when we work together.
She represents everything I want for myself, after all. Confidence. Transgressive femininity. The urge to dominate every room she’s in, as effortlessly as she breathes this stupid air I share with her.
When the sparks fly so hot that we finally get what we’ve both wanted since forever, I make the greatest mistake of my life.
I propose a friendly wager that results in the loser submitting to the other for a night.
I never anticipated losing!
THE DOMMES is a sapphic retelling of the Cynthia Dane bestseller “Dom Vs. Domme.” It’s a super spicy romance featuring two Dommes, one of whom is a non-binary lesbian.
Wow! I couldn't put this down, what a great story. I loved both MCs and the supporting characters. I loved the push and pull of the dominance between the MCs. I think I'll read the original book that this was based on but probably won't enjoy it as much as the sapphic version. Brilliant writing, keeps you hooked and very, very hot sex scenes. I loved it
Cynthia Dane and Hildred Billings have hit the jackpot with this one. In all transparency I read Dom vs Domme a few years ago. I was a bit hesitant to grab this reshaping into a Sapphic journey but OMG it was an amazing adventure. Thanks from the soles of my feet for the amazing job a providing great visibility to Masc Lesbian identifying folks. I appreciate that you did such an awesome job of not defining the MCs by what was south of their navel. This is a long read but worth every minute of the process that Kathleen and Ira shared together and as individuals as the outcome is hard sought and challenging. There is angst on a lots of fronts and loads of steam and great insight to those unaware to the incredible possibilities involved in any type of relationship...traditional or not. I read this aloud to a friend and She was as engaged as myself. I am not sure I can convey the intense and wonderful experience this book has been for both of us. It is a page turner. If you can take a day or two off from your life to just immerse yourself into this book that would be my suggestion as the best way to experience all happens in the 750+ pages of amazingness that The Dommes is.
This would have been a 5 star for me if not for that disrespect for the safe word and manipulation. So early on too. Yikes. Every time I was swooning with the MCs I remembered that scene. Wanted to love Ira, very selfish for the majority of the book and apparently in the end we find out that they are more open to letting Kathleen be Kathleen but why off page? Wild behavior. End scene was killer - would have loved if half of this book would have spent serious time on the Domme duo with their subs.

I usually love all of this author’s books but the lack of respect when Katie used her safe word really ruined this one for me. Ira basically said, let me finish it get out - which is incredibly manipulative.
I have read most of what Billings/Dane have written and in truth I have not loved everything but most have had some great success. I loved this book until I didn’t. For one thing it felt very long and a little repetitive. I have to say that I enjoyed the pairing of Katherine and Ira. Dommes to Dommes in the BDSM world takes on an interesting and new dimension. But there seemed too too much of Ira getting what she wanted and less of what Katherine deserved. I struggled to finish the book, which is another reason the book felt so long. But the final stretch to the ending brought out a new perspective in Dommes switching and a greater respect for this author.
genius genius genius your faves could NEVER. the erotic, kinky, romantic, strong MCs, complex exploration of gender with Ira... amazing.
Two independent domes who don’t have to dim their personalities to be in a rewarding relationship. A good reminder for all
ps AND Kathleen is bisexual...!!!!!! my people.
“I love her. She loves me. We understand each other. Dominating and submitting isn’t about power plays. We’re not stripping each other’s power – not like that. We don’t have to play these games every day. We can be us. We can be in love and have a healthy relationship as we are.”

Now don't get me wrong I enjoyed this book, it was most definitely smoking but In struggled with Kantheens character and the way she treated Ira. It felt very teen angsty, I do understand struggling with your identity and it shifting in a way you never expected but she seemed constant things from Its without having to tell her. I suppose I felt more empathy for Iras character as I'm generally someone who needs to be told, I'm not great at being able to work out what someone wants unless they are clear with me. Anyway, if you want to watch two Dommes come together hot and heavy, this is the book for you.
As always another fantastic book. If you want a very 🌶️🌶️ love story then this will not disappoint. As the name suggests there are clashes along the way but oh so worth it.
The writing is really good, the characters are real, the story is incredible. I've just read the most impactful book I've come across this year. I do not read long books!
I did not know what to expect when I picked this up but I was pleasantly surprised! It was longer than most and still entertaining. Spice with a plot and just amazing!!! Would recommend this to anyone! Will be reading more from the author.
There’s a lot emotionally and intellectually packed into this one book which I actually probably would’ve preferred to be split up into two or three. But it’s definitely something you should read.
