What a terrible day to have eyes. DNF at 22%, when I literally became nauseated. I’ve read a lot of f#% up stuff under the guise of romance, but this was by far one of the worst.
The trickle truth doesn’t start until a couple of chapters in, when we learn the MC is a convicted sex offender. Then it comes out that he’s definitely guilty. Meanwhile, he’s whining nonstop about how terribly he’s treated due to his conviction. Also, he’s had series of failed relationships that all ended the same way. He blames his exes for starting a relationship with a 15 year old boy. If only they had loved him more, he wouldn’t have done it. Then, it goes into a long, far too long, description of how beautiful teenage boys are and how beautiful the one he committed the felony on was, but it was ok, because he loved him…that’s when I DNFed.
His nonstop justification for everything that went bad in his life - he never had a single moment of insight as to how he was the cause of all his problems.
Finally, his “love interest” is a 24 year old college student, who is 5’7” and 115 pounds, described multiple times as looking younger than his age, with absolutely no friends or family to support him.
Everything about the first 22% of this book was slimy and gross, full of whiny self-justification and complaints about how people are mean to convicted sex offenders, especially pedophiles. This reads like a recruitment tool for NAMBLA.
Perhaps it improves later, but I’m not going to keep reading to find out.
