In a world where magic vanished a decade ago, the kingdoms of Southria and Treasten fight for supremacy. Queen Victoria of Treasten sends the Trident, a formidable ship commanded by the infamous Captain Bennu, on a dangerous voyage to seal a deal with the powerful King Charles of Evüw. Onboard the Trident, Leo Woodville will seek to fulfill a personal mission with his own life at stake. And he will be willing to do anything to succeed, even if it takes killing Captain Bennu himself.
In Southria, King Berthec I is determined to take Queen Victoria's crown, having forged an alliance with the Icy Peak. His son, Prince Elberthec, will soon be married to Queen Marryle, but Prince George, the heir to the throne of Treasten, will challenge this marriage at any cost.
Was the assassination of Isabella Lyntrash the origin of all these conflicts? Or is there something else?
I devoured this book, it was that delicious. From the get-go, the story sucks you in and takes you for a ride that is full of twists and turns. This book was well written and had a thriving and vivid world, and the plot were interesting and engaging. When it comes to the world building, I thought it was so captivating and visualizing the scenery came so fluidly. Which for me just made the book come to life. It was no wonder why I had gotten lost for hours within the pages.it was so easy to read and follow. I found myself turning page after page effortlessly, Once I started I couldn’t put it down.
I don't know what I expected from this story, but I am in no way disappointed with what I got. I love the main characters,i don't always agree with their choices and that just makes it better to my mind. The characters are easy to understand but not predictable in anyway that you could guess what would happen which is so hard to capture in a story, especially a romantic fantasy.
There were tons of twists and turns throughout the book that I was not expecting as well and the fact I never could really anticipate what was going to happen next kept the book very interesting. And the ending was VERY surprising. I was not expecting it to play out like it did!!
I definitely recommend reading that it will not bore you if you put your heart to it and give it a chance. I promise you will find yourself saying almost the exact same things I said. And if there were more stars to rate this book out of I'd give it 10000/5 because it is just that good !!
Just do yourself a favour and read this alread.
“You make it sound as if I have broken every promise I ever made to you.”
“What promises can you really make?” she asked, voice and expression softening.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It had me hooked from the get go, with magic, Gods, and betrayal it’s everything that you could hope for in a fantasy book!
There were twists in it that I wouldn’t have guessed but it made for an interesting read. And the ending… oh my days! I didn’t see that coming at all!
I feel like there’s a second book just waiting to happen!
This book was so unexpectedly written and there were so so so many plot twists I didn’t see coming! I devoured this book! It was so well written and the immersive experience was incredible! I have to be biased though I enjoyed following Leo’s story on the trident a little bit more than the mainland politics but OMG I was in shock with how captivating this was!
Totally enjoyed this story and would recommend 100000%
One of the best books I’ve read so far. All the action and plot twists and slow burn romance and war and strategy… It’s just SO good!! I definitely recommend it. And the ending?? I was on the edge of my seat the whole time!! Can’t wait to read more of this author’s work!! Such a gem!
This book has me hooked. A friend of mine recommended it and we've been trying to find out what's going to happen every now and then. In love with every plot twist.
Ambition, magic, violence, love, humour... No matter what you look for in a YA Fantasy novel, you'll find it here. A word of warning, though: you won't be able to put it down.
I didn’t know what to expect from this book but it was definitely not that! It was so good! The world building was quite interesting. It somehow held a resemblance to the GoT world but quite different, not like a copy at all. It just reminded me a bit of it, maybe just the vibes ✨ I enjoyed both the journey on land and across water a lot, though I had a preference for the storyline on board of the ship. There are a lot of POVs but it was well executed and didn’t get confusing at all. It was nice to be able to see everything through (almost) everyone’s eyes and perspective. One thing I particularly enjoyed are the first introduction moments of the captain when we could start getting an idea of the kind of person the captain was. It was brutal. I loved it.
I’m looking forward to reading more books in this series!
