Symone Watson’s first day out of orientation couldn’t be any

Enlisted to the greatest superpowered defense unit in Uri City, whisked on a hovercraft to take on her first mission, a brand-new uniform to break in, and an exclusive mentorship with the Company’s top Defender and Elite Unit Leader – Malcolm Bennett.

Malcolm’s day, meanwhile, couldn’t be any

Chewed out by his boss for failing the last mission, saddled with another newbie on the Elite Unit, and still reeling from the nightmares that haunt him worse than the countless opponents he’s faced over the years.

While Symone’s insatiable appetite for a real brawl drives her to break down Malcolm’s impenetrable emotional walls, the greatest threat to Uri City’s powered population emerges and goads the superpowered Defenders into a maniacal race against the clock to stop him and his team of assassins from murdering one of the Company’s own. As Malcolm and Symone’s relationship evolves, the threads that bind their hearts and their powers together may prove to be the key to the survival of the Defenders, the Company, and all of Uri City.

Thank you to the author for this ARC. This story of 7 super heroes protecting their city (Uri city) in urethra was written so well. The Collector is the villain who steals power from other powered people in the city to try to fulfill what is “destined”. Malcom and symone are the FMC and MMC and along with the rest of the team Malaysia, Duncan, Daisy, Karl and Alexia all have different powers to contribute to each task assigned by “ The Company”.

If you’re looking for a descriptive action packed fantasy with a little spice this is the book. While reading I could clearly picture each scene unfold clearly, even though it’s set in the future it was very vivid in my mind. I would love to see this become a series or a movie! I’m glad to know this will be a saga because the ending had me saying WHAT THE FRIMAS!! lol this is a big back book 600 + pages but a very fun read.

A wild ride

I have to say, as a first timer reading a fantasy/ superhero thriller novel like this, im thoroughly impressed. This is my first time reading anything from this author, and Im glad I took the chance. As an action girlie, mostly, this gave me just enough of it to keep my interest. I wasn't sure what to expect when I went in, but as the story moved along, I found myself eager to know what would happen next. Out of all of the characters, I fell in love with Malcom and Symone the most. The building of their chemistry and romance felt natural (another element I wasn’t expecting) and I found myself wanting more of them in each chapter. The author had me hooked.

The entire cast was brilliant and well thought out. I especially loved that the women got more time to shine than the men, which doesn't always happen with stories like these. And did I mention that they're all melananted characters, too? That was an extra added bonus for me. Seeing us inside of superheroes and having powers the way they did. Chefs kiss.

There was a scene where the female characters had to go in and save a colleague. They had to be discreet, calculated, and leave without making a fuss. In that moment, as im reading that scene play out, if felt like I was in the room with them, whispering their words (in my head) trying to be as quiet as I could so that THEY wouldn't get caught. LOL Then I realized, "you are not in the book, girl."

Overall, this one caught me surprise. Looking forward to reading book two.

If I could give more than 5 ⭐️ I would!!!

Mr. Eddie Williams did the most incredible work with this book. I usually don’t read this type of book and I was absolutely captivated from the start. The writing is almost musical and I was able to actually envision what was taking place. The book has some hidden gems and questions which I believe are important for the next book. (At least I hope) This is definitely one of the BEST books I have read!

Black superheros

Adventurous, a little mysterious and energizing. The Elite team will have you trying to figure out their next move with them to defeat their opponents. It’s always a battle happening but with all the superpowers nothing compares to the mind. Who had the best plan to succeed and start a new day? Differently is a good superhero/ supervillain story.
