Bloom is a collection of poems that range from topics of childhood trauma, to adult relationship trauma. It is a complex collection and will provoke all of the emotions. It's deeply personal and something that I, the author, hold near and dear to my heart. I hope that if you choose to read, you find some solace in knowing that you are not alone in these thoughts and emotions.
I don't normally like poetry, but THIS. This collection is so raw and vulnerable. The author really bared her soul and left everything on the pages. The experiences in the book are personal, but I found so many moments that hit me right in the heart because I knew exactly what she was talking about.
I'm already waiting on volume two.
Thank you to the author for my e-copy.
P.S. 'Skeletons in my closet' is my poem and no one else can have it thank you very much.
The words that are written (typed) within the pages of Bloom are magnificent. They're real, raw, relatable, and oh-so-beautiful.
I went through so many emotions while reading through Amara's poems and you can FEEL the emotions emanating off the pages. I loved the connection I felt while reading through this. It felt like I was right there holding her hand as she spilled out the words.
I hate that I can personally relate to so many of the poems but I know what it's like to feel the way these poems express and it's nice to have someone in your corner that's been through what you have or something similar.
Also, can we just take a minute and talk about the playlist! The songs included match the vibe of the poems so well.
If you read this and relate, know you’re not alone.
"Bloom" is a powerful collection of poems that speaks to every woman who has ever felt silenced, overlooked, or dismissed. The raw emotion and courage in Amara's words beautifully capture what it means to rise from the depths of toxic relationships and mental health struggles. I found myself in tears more than once, feeling an overwhelming urge to wrap Amara in love and protection. Her story is a profound reminder that you are enough, and that choosing yourself is never selfish—it's essential for your safety and well-being. Thank you, Amara, for sharing your journey with us. Your words will touch countless hearts and empower women to say "yes" to themselves.
Amara Ellis what did you put in these poems to make them both incredibly relatable while also making me feel so seen and vulnerable? Each and every single line in this book hits you in the chest like an emotional fist through the heart. I cried. I laughed while crying. Then I cried some more. This entire book is full of such beautiful and heartbreaking poems, and I can't wait to read the second poetry book in this series. Amara, thanks for ripping my heart out while stitching it back together in this one. I'm so proud of you.
