Sherlock Holmes und der überstürzte Urlaub (Sherlock Holmes Mysterien 3)

Rate this book

Entertaining Holmes listening ✨😎😆🎆

This kindle e-book novella is from my Kindle Unlimited account book 3 of 6

A sister comes to see Holmes and Watson about her sister taking holiday. Their investigation leads to the criminal plan and the successful arrest of the criminals.

I would recommend this series and author to fans of Sherlock Holmes and readers of British mystery novels.2024

Not what I was expecting

Being used to Dr Watson narrating I found the third person narration odd, not to mention that Holmes doesn't smoke but marvels at the countryside, Watson does newspaper crosswords long before they existed, Mrs Hudson of all people sits before being invited & Holmes is positively effusive rather than acerbic.
The story is suitable for children: no violence, no mention of the poverty or seedy side of London, no alcohol smoking or drugs.
I gave it 3 stars because it wasn't what I was expecting, but it might well be rated higher by a child or parent.

Another fun Holmes short story

Holmes and Watson are relaxing in their rooms at Baker street when a woman arrives seeking their help. Her sister has gone on a sudden unexpected holiday with no notice to her sister. Holmes agrees to look into the matter. He and Watson reach out to the woman’s landlady and then her employer with no clear reason for her absence. Having gotten the address where the sister is supposed to be on holiday they make the long trip out to search for the woman. From there the mystery deepens and after several twists and turns resolves with a surprise ending. A fun read.

Sherlock Holmes and the Hasty Holiday Book3

This is a very good quick mystery book to sit down and read in an afternoon. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and can’t wait to read more of them. I absolutely adore all of the Sherlock Holmes books they make you think and let you totally get into the mystery and trying to figure out who done it!!

This book felt more like a “Cozy Mystery” rather than a true Sherlock Holmes mystery, that’s not to say every case the duo participated in had to be a matter of life and death. It has a good plot and a plausible ending, but the reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars was the fact that the writer used language that was not necessarily in fashion in the late 19th century.

Short And Sweet

Sisterly concern drives a woman to Holmes' doorstep. But things take a turn when a missing person's case becomes something more nefarious.

The plot thickens

I appreciate the plots the author comes up with, but find the language of the characters quite stilted. I still enjoyed the story.

One of Swifts better books. A young distraught woman shows up at 221 B and explains her sister has suddenly took a vacation. Doesn’t seem out of the ordinary until Holmes uses his perceptions.
