Sky Stryker #4

Fatal Massacre

Rate this book
In the world of fashion, death is the new black.

There’s no rest for a real writer. And for Sky Stryker, who's neck-deep in her next true crime exposé about the brutal murder of her childhood best friend, the gritty streets of New York City provide endless fodder.

Especially when she stumbles over a young woman's body.

The police dismiss it as just another overdose—a random junkie who met her end. But Sky believes otherwise. The woman, dressed like a runway model, bears evidence of physical assault, and she’s no ordinary victim. She's a popular model for Omforia Model Management. In a stroke of dark fortune, Sky has an invitation to a Vermont house party hosted by Omforia’s enigmatic executive creative director. It's the perfect cover to dig deeper.

Until it turns deadly.

New York is a dangerous city, and its wealthy residents will stop at nothing to protect their secrets. As the body count rises, Sky’s forced into a perilous game, where one wrong move could end her career. Or her life.

Fatal Massacre is the fourth book in the Sky Stryker series by best-selling author Mary Stone. When beauty meets the beast, there is no fairy-tale ending.

The Jolly Bean Coffeehouse where Sky has made the table in the corner, her second home was where Javier found her.
After her move to New York and stayed after her Model cousin Megan had made her home and Sky thought she would become a novel writer. They were both close to wanting a more than a friendship with each other. Javier was a COO of a designer fashion brand. Sky and Javier had helped in the investigation and take-down of 'The Mall' a horrifying involvement of Models and a famous fashion house's management, after her cousin Megan's murder.
Sky had written and released her novel involving the crimes of The Mall, 'The Man Made of Shadows' as a True Crime Novel. Suddenly memories popped up about her best friend in school Tessa Emerson and the documentary about her murder when they were 14. Her 4th book would be 'Out of The Shadows' written about the experiences Sky and Tessa had gone through the day Tessa had been shot and Sky had to try to help her friend as they were trapped in a cave.
I really enjoyed reading this fourth book in the Sky Stryker Series, infact I started it in the afternoon and at 4:10 am I had finished it. This was another great book by Mary Stone and Bella Cross. Now I have to wait, rather impatiently for Book five.

FATAL MASSACRE is the fourth installment in the Sky Stryker series by Mary Stone and Bella Cross. It's another murder mystery and page turner that includes all the great elements you have come to expect from a book that keeps  you on the edge of your seat. If you like thrillers, you'll like this book and be kept guessing to the end, though I had my suspicions.

The disastrous documentary about Sky's  and Tess' tragic teen years did uncover her BFF's murderer. Now Sky is focusing on her next true crime book. Her publisher is determined that Sky meet some wealthy and influential friends and wants her to attend a private party. At the party she and Javier are invited to Veronica Kernrow's weekend party. When they get snowed in, the weekend of networking goes from rude and crude bad to deadly bad. With roads closed and phones out it becomes a deadly party to survive.

I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my freely given and honest review. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to more in this series.

Are you a guest or the entertainment? Sky Stryker attracts danger like a magnet. In her attempt to expose the ugly side of the modeling industry she keeps tripping over bodies. This time she finds a young model who has been murdered and left in an alley. She doesn't believe this is an accidental overdose as the original prediction was. When visited by two officers she shares her concerns. She is not sure they welcome her predictions since she is a journalist but eventually come to her way of thinking. She is then suspiciously invited to a party with the rich and famous. She attends as it may be good for her career. Luckily Javier is there to help. This is followed by an equally suspicious invitation to a weekend retreat at the home of the rich and famous. Sky is already suspicious that these people know something about the murdered model. Then the fun starts. Not only do they belittle and ridicule her, but it also appears there is a murderer among the guests. This book keeps you guessing. I like this character, and I think we will see more of her.

Sky is headed home from her local hang out, The Coffee Bean” when she cuts thru an alley and discovers the body of a well dressed young woman. She calls the police and her good friend and neighbor. The police arrive quickly and decide from evidence on and around the body that this another “junkie death”. Sky doesn’t agree with them, and vows to figure out what the true story is.
Meanwhile Javier is invited to a weekend party in Vermont at the home of the head of a prestigious model agency, and it’s suggested by that agency that he bring Sky.
The party is not at all what Sky is expecting, these folks are rude and believe themselves to be above the general population. But things begin to come together as information comes to light about the dead model( who worked for their agency). Fast paced with lots of twists and turns.

But it seems this was a murder & Skye finds herself deep in another investigation into the shady world of fashion. Her publisher asks her to get close to the wealthy head of a modeling agency & Skye is invited to one of her parties & a weekend trip to her mansion. Her friend, Javier, accompanies her on the weekend trip to the mansion; however, Skye finds herself being ridiculed by her host, Veronica. The fashion industry just keeps giving. Sky and Javier are back and find themselves in the midst of something odd in the fashion world. Several characters meet an untimely demise and Sky has questions. We meet new characters in the form of detective Dante and see Sky and Javier circle each other and their emotions. I thought the middle was a bit long, but overall an easy and enjoyable read. The ending has a twist I was not expecting and the last of the book paved the way for Sky to have another mystery to solve. I missed the rest of the team, but liked that they were off living life as well. A good read!

I did not expect this series to get so hot. And hot they are. Mary is a fabulous writer her interesting characters just leap out of the page. I love the snarky, witty Sky. The plot is again unique with unexpected twists. The story is very tense and killings scary. The New your city and the fashion industry are perfect settings for this thrilling series. I could not put the book down. My heart aches for Sky and I keep my fingers crossed for Javier. A lot of action and great dialogs. Do not miss on this. Bravo again

A Fabulous Read

In an amazing display of her knowledge of people, Ms. Stone brings all of her characters to life. The good guys, the bad guys, and all the people in between. She allows her characters to develop themselves as well as giving them very human instincts and idiosyncrasies. All of this makes for a great read and a lot of fun and really makes it hard to figure out who did what to whom. Enjoy!

Coming off a high with three books published and a fourth one in the works, Sky stumbles over a body in the alley on her way home. Next thing she knows she’s in the middle of an investigation on, not only the new body but at least one (or more) other one. Topping that she, has attained an invitation with Javier, to attend a swanky weekend at one of the most influential fashion heads Vermont home. What on earth could happen?

perfidy permeates….

Sky, on the heels of her third book, catches the attention of a harridan operator of another modeling agency. This woman invites Sky to a cocktail reception and, after watching Sky and Javier at her cocktail affair, extends an invitation for Javier and Sky to spend the weekend in Vermont at a palatial estate.

Mystery, mayhem and murder ensue.

Great Story

As much as I love this relatively new character, this one is probably the best of the 4 books. The closeness with Javier, the continued showing of the underbelly profession of modeling, and the sympathetic character in Imogen, her lost love and her demise - all good storylines.

This series is fantastic. The characters are sometimes unfortunately realistic and captivating. The stories are very believable. The modeling and entertainment business has been known for its shady dealings. It’s good to see some of there dealing come to light.

Weekend

Wow what a weekend. The story was interesting and it kept me wondering who was killing the people. I didn't guess the who until the book gave the answer. The one thing that stood out was all the rich treating Sky awful.

Loved this book. It was very hard to put down. I spent the whole time trying to figure out which one of the horrible men was the murderer. And hoping Imogine got the proof to put Veronica away. Amazing story line. A definite must read.
