More nihilistic garbage from Mark Millar. I truly wonder who this is for - is the reader supposed to cheer on Nemesis? Rarely have I seen a character with so many layers of plot armour (nobody ever thinks of just shooting him through the head). There are zero stakes, there is no tension.

Is there some sort of cathartic release in reading this? The world is a bad place, and Millar has nothing interesting to say about that. A boring void.

Making it even worse, this time the art is bad, looking like computer generated art, with characters looking like posed mannequins.

Avoid the void.

I felt like it was a story where you continually throw violent happenings at the reader ...in order for something to resonate.

This was actually...kind of interesting? I've hated Millar's Nemesis work in the past--the character (an evil Batman, essentially) is just too awful, with no redeeming characteristics whatsoever. The previous series have all been incredibly violent and incredibly nihilistic. Things haven't completely changed, though, but this time, Nemesis is taking on a bunch of incredibly wealthy and awful people on an "Epstein Island" where billionaires go to relax and do whatever awful things that come to their minds. Also, Nemesis takes on a partner, kind of an evil Robin, I guess, to assist. And there's a group of the fathers and husbands of people he's wronged in the past who are after him. The art is actually fairly good in this collection. I guess I'll be back for more whenever Nemesis: Forever (promised at the conclusion of this volume) arrives.

At times Millar makes me think of Quentin Tarantino. With Tarantino's Django and Inglorious Basterds these are movies I really enjoyed and I don't feel he took shortcuts or cheap shots to get a viewer's reaction. With the Hateful Eight I have the opposite feeling.

Which is how I feel about Nemesis. Nemesis is arguably Batman with the violence and lack or morals dialed up to 11.

Yet, I still enjoyed this. Perhaps what disturbs me in Nemesis' success at succeeding in his recovery from the the events of The Big Game. The restoration of his body and funds seems almost too easy.

Geez. I used to apologize for liking Mark Millar's stuff but it doesn't seem like that will be an issue anymore. Was this comic fun to make because it sure wasn't fun to read. And I don't mean that in a "this comic is dark!' kind of way. I mean that in a "this comic is boring!' kind of way. I just complained about Millar writing the Smartest Person in the Universe stories but this is definitely worse. And if you thought that subtitle "Rogue's Gallery" meant there'd be some sort of fun take on a character like Nemesis having a bunch of rogues (or heroes), you'd be very wrong.

again with the senseless killing, more revenge for Miller's supervillain in the immediate follow up to Big Game, where Nemesis is rescued and resurrected by an old friend who then demands a huge sum in repayment, which N. has to go and steal, for which he needs an apprentice, but someone else is after revenge on him. There are no sympathetic characters in this who last more than a couple of pages before dying, everyone's corrupt & there isn't even any sort of humour, so it's just a grind

The book has been one fanatic’s fantasy ride. the ultra-violent, crazya$$ action set pieces, the book earns an extra star because of its wicked climax and cliffhanger.

In my book this volume doesn’t really top the previous two instalments and first Vol. Still remains my fav.

Did we really need a third volume of nihilistic Batman? This was so uninteresting. BTW, how is Nemesis not dead after Big Game? If nothing else, Hit Girl would have for sure put a bullet in his head instead of letting him live, paralyzed or not. Anyway, Nemesis makes a comeback and gets a paper thin evil Robin for a sidekick.

Although the "2nd Epstein island" Twist was 5 star worthy the rest of the story wasn't.
I wasn't a fan of the rebooted Nemesis (much preferred the first one) and it was interesting to see what happened after Big Game but it just felt like naughty batman finds his robin
