Now that he’s got some spare time, Zelos is using it to make something that’ll stick out like a sore thumb in this fantasy a full-fledged motorbike. And his tinkering might just put him in more peril than any monster could!
Back at the Istol Academy of Magic, Celestina, Zweit, and Croesus are getting ready for a combat training camp in the Ramaf Woods. But with a conspiracy unfolding, the trip could end up being a bigger trial than the academy had bargained for—especially for Zweit, who’s right in the conspirators’ crosshairs.
Zelos and his mercenary companions are hired to tag along as guards to keep the students safe from anything, or anyone, that threatens the safety of the camp. Who knows what could be lurking among the trees...
I was really enjoying this series and this book. Up until the last 30 or so pages. The sage has always been a little preoccupied but he's always known what was going on around him. And he's always protected those with him. But to have him get distracted by mining doesn't sound like him. And then to go into a backstory about the orphans which could of been placed further back in the book was totally annoying. Don't know what the editor and publisher were thinking but it didn't impress me. If they're going to pull that kind of garbage then this might be the last book for me
Zelos goes to a training camp at his students' school as a mercenary. It takes place in the Ramaf Forest. Zelos brings the chicken monsters he raises to act as guards for Zweit. Since Zweit broke the mind control magic on himself, he irritated members of his faction, and they wanted him dead. So those people hired assassins from a group called Hydra.
As an aside, the Orphanage's Children want to get stronger to repay the Church's kindness. Zelos decides to have the weaker chickens fight them. First, they learn Tai Chi so they can achieve the basic stances.
I enjoyed the book. Thanks for reading my review, and see you next time.
