When Wendy went after a married man and got him, she thought her life would change for the better. She had no idea that the jilted woman's moving on would set off a string of events that would show her and the man she stole why the grass is never greener on the other side. When Rachel lost her no-good husband to another woman, she endured the pain of betrayal like anyone else would, but it didn't take her long to look at the bright side. What had she lost after all? A husband and father who barely spared a moment for his wife and kids? Good riddance. She was all set to do it alone, no matter how hard it proved to be, but that was before her husband's best friend stepped in to help her carry the load. When Doug left his wife for his new hot girlfriend he expected her to put up a fight. He was pleasantly surprised and relieved when she let him go without too much fuss. But little did he know that things would take a drastic turn when his best friend decided to pick up his slack. Jacob had always had a thing for Rachel. In fact, the night she met Doug, he had been the one to see her first and point her out to his friend, who made the first move. Now that Doug was out of the picture, the wealthy businessman saw no reason not to make his move.
This started out as a potentially fun revenge story and turned into the most disgusting revenge/torture porn.
Heroine finds out her husband is a cheater and he ends up with the OW bitch from hell. The husband's BFs steps in as he's always wanted the h and all hell breaks loose. The husband starts to beat up the other woman. Yeah, she's no prize, but this was gross as in nauseatingly gross.
I hate cheaters and want them to have retribution, but this crossed a line. I was truly nauseated.
You’re just reading this cause for the drama. I enjoyed some aspects of this mess. Hence the 2 stars but I didn’t like the H and JS men are usually what’s keeping me coming back.
I didn’t like the H or the way he let his friend have Dibs on the h just cause he wanted to be a playboy and live a jet setting lifestyle. He knew he felt a strong pull and that she was different. I don’t like that it took him 3 years to figure out that he made a mistake giving her up to his bf cause he was off fucking around . To little to late
I HATE THAT THE H HAD OTHER WOMAN AND AT LEAST ONE SERIOUS RELATIONSHIP FOR THESE 10 years cause HE was the one that CHOSE not to pursue the h and let his BF do it. HE SHOULD HAVE STAYED CELIBATE FOR A LEAST A WHILE.
I Know she was married to her ex and he had to watch her w him but he had his chance.
JS used to have men that went for their woman and let no one stop them. It was hard to believe he was OTT when his past actions said otherwise.
The ending w her ex and his mistress was pretty gross 😂 I mean it was creative for sure and they did deserve it.
I guess, now that Im done with the book, I should review the whole thing.
“What did she say?” “She said, okay.” “That’s great, isn’t it?” “Yeah, it’s great. I can’t believe how easy it was. I thought for sure she’d make a fuss.” Why didn’t she make a fuss? She seemed almost like she didn’t care. How could that be? I was always the love of her life. We were happy; our life was the envy of everyone we knew. So why is she being so blasé about me cheating? I looked over at my affair partner as she drove us back to her place.
Nice. Very very nice.
EDIT#1- Tf? This has marital ra**, Domestic Viol****, physical abu**!!! The cheating ahh-hole husband smacks around his affair partner!
This book's very disturbing
EDIT#2- So, it’s no surprise that when I called them pleading for help because of what their brother was doing, they laughed in my face and told me I was getting what I deserved and not to call them again. I think that’s the moment when I realized I had hit rock bottom
Them being the husband's sisters and mother.
idc if it was my worst enemy, if they were getting ra*** and beaten by their husaband, I wouldnt hesistate to help them.
Idc how the story is played out to blame the OW(the victim of abuse) and the ex-husband, but I still feel that everyone was batshit crazy in this book.
THERE IS ON PAGE VIOLENCE!!
SPOILERS-
this plot is very messy but i'll try my best.
So the story is about Rachel (the FMC) and her husband Doug(well ex-husband because the divorce takes place a few pages into the book)
Doug was cheating on Rachel with his younger co-worker Wendy. He leaves Rachel (with whome he has 2 kids) for Wendy. Rachel dosent put up a fight. Jacob swoops in to play the knight. Jacob has been in love with Rachel for a long time and wanted to ask her out but Doug got to her first. He has known Rachel for the same time Doug has been with her, but he never overstepped the friendship boundary and was the godafather to Doug's and Rachel's two kids. He has only been in love with Rachel and no one else, and gave up his playboy ways once he realised he could never have Rachel.
But things took a turn for the .....best.....(if u look at it from rachel and Jacob's POV)
After Doug and Wendy get married and move in, he starts beating her up, sexually abusing her, pushing her around because men, once they move in with the skank and the skank get's overweight, do they realise that they've fucked up their life.
Rachel and Jacob hit it off and go on to have 4 more kids. They're happy and fulfilled with their life.
I think what makes this story SO GROSS and DISUSTING, is the literal death scenes of Wendy and Doug. It's like a mix version of Stephen King with Franz Kafka. Their are maggots crawling all over their dead bodies while they're alive.
The ending was like experiencing a Quentin Tarantino movie.....or maybe not since this book was too poorly written.
There is a LOT OF revenge and drama, Wendy and Dough, when they finally get together, they're still hung up on the fact that Rachel never put up a fight and is already fucking Doug's childhood friend Jacob. They can't stand to see her happy.
The POV's of Doug and Rachel, though portrayed as evil, are straight up psychopathic. Like....I couldn't believe what the fuck I was reading.

I read this on vacation a couple of weeks ago, and I’m not quite sure how to rate it. It started out alright with the “Bastard” and the “Homewrecking Skank” detailing how they blew up his marriage to sweet Rachel. I love OW drama, and am always down for the wronged wife getting an upgrade with a richer, hotter, more endowed/better lover beau… so I was digging this.
But then things started going off the rails a bit and going a bit too far into Crazy Town for me and I started having second thoughts. Don’t get me wrong, I do love comeuppance, but this was whacked.
Bottom Line- It actually reminded me of Replacing Her Ex which I liked a lot better. If you find this one too much, you might give that one a try. The scenario is a bit different; his family hates the h in that one and the OW is the one that gets knocked up, but much is the same. New improved H that loves h, OM with second thoughts, scheming OW that we get her POV, comeuppance. Looks like she wrote this one just a few months later.
3.45 stars? I dunno, this book wasn't really a romance as it was a over the top drama filled consequence story 😂😂🤷🕺
The husband cheats on his wife and his life starts to spiral when he decides to be with his new gf. ex-Wife has two kids with the ex husband but his now ex best friend who wanted wife first when they both saw her at a bar PR club moves in.
Husband moves in with the new girl but he starts to regret being with her and starts the abuse which was kinda not fun to read. I understand she made the moves on him and is the home wrecker by no one should be treated like that.😐😳
Later on, wife and new husband are happy and having triplets and ex husband and home wrecker......good lord. He makes her paralyzed and she kills him with poison and his maggots from his dead body start to slowly creep into her as well and they both die 😂😂😂😳 wild. WILD. See what I mean about this not being a romance? 😂

I really liked this at first, especially once the new H had a thing for br33ding the (main?) FMC. I do love that trope. It was funny to see the cheaters' perspectives and how the grass isn't always greener. But then things took a turn for them into DV. I'm not really down for that as a comeuppance for the OW. I feel like it makes DV light and funny, but no one deserves that. I also feel like she got more punishment for their relationship at the hands of the cheating husband (literally) than he did when he's the one who cheated on his wife. I would have preferred to see them suffer greatly in a different way, having to see the happy couple from a distance for the rest of their long, miserable lives. DV was not the way to go, in my opinion.
My reviews always contain spoilers, I write them so I can remember the story.
This book like the other cheating books by Jordan was very entertaining. The comeuppance for the cheater and affair partner is what most betrayed wives probably wish on the cheaters. The chapter titles were funny and this book is told from the cheater and affair partners pov more than the betrayed wife and her new man’s.
In fact the book starts with Doug, the bastard cheater telling Rachel his soon to be ex wife of his two year long affair with Wendy, the homewrecking skank. When Racheal takes the high road and is gracious during the divorce things don’t sit well with Doug the bastard. He starts wondering if he did the right thing by telling her of the affair and he wonders why she did not fight for him. Meanwhile, Wendy the homewrecking skank is very paranoid and jealous of Racheal, especially since Doug’s family still loves her and all Doug’s friends abandoned them for Rachel. Basically everyone shames and hates Doug and Wendy. Rachel projects an outward calm and serene facade but inside she is destroyed by Doug’s actions. She was a good wife and a great mother to her son Kevin and her new born Sarah. But for her kids she decides she needs to be strong and project that to everyone. Luckily Doug’s parents and sisters are a big help to her and love her and the kids. So does Doug’s best friend Jacob. It’s Jacob that noticed Rachel first but Doug being jealous of Jacob told him she wasn’t his type and went and talked to her first. So for 10 years Jacob has yearned for Rachel and has been her friend and godfather to her son. He kept his feelings to himself, but Doug knew and always tried to rub it in his face that Rachel was his. Doug and Wendy spiral because Doug is now unhappy with Wendy, the blush of the affair has dulled and Wendy is obsessed with Rachel and very angry that no one is accepting her in Doug’s life. She tries to play happy stepmom but Doug’s younger sister Sasy sets them up and causes them to fight and get physical with each other, she also records Wendy yelling at the kids. Police are called and Sasy and the kids are sent home with Rachel. Soon Doug loses custody of the kids and when he finds out Rachel and Jacob are together he loses it. He has become a drunk who loses his high paying job. Wendy now supports them both. It’s wonderful seeing him imploding on himself. Sadly he does being to physically and verbally abuse Wendy, she did a terrible thing taking a married man away from his wife and kids, but I don’t think she deserved to be constantly beaten and raped by Doug. Jacob and Rachel are doing well and they start sleeping together and he confesses his love to her and they get married. Then they are pregnant. Each new happy event with them causes more pain and anguish to Doug and Wendy. In the end he hits her so hard she flys back and hits her head on the counter paralyzing her from the neck down. She couldn’t talk or move. The funny thing was she was done with him beating on her and verbally abusing her, she had procured an undetectable poison and was slowly poisoning Doug, but she became paralyzed and now needed him to take care of her. In the end Rachel delivers triplets, two boys and a girl. Jacob loves and adopts Kevin and Sarah, he always worried they would feel left out because their last names were different. Doug finally dies from the poisoning and because Wendy can’t move she dies while waiting for the home healthcare person to come check on her. This was like watching a train derailing that was carrying dumpsters that were on fire. It’s was great! The only part I didn’t like was how much Doug abused Wendy, he was in the wrong too but took no ownership of his actions. He blamed Wendy for everything, the abuse was too much. I started to feel sorry for Wendy, no one “deserves” that.

Dnf @ 34%. I remembered why I don’t read JS - the writing is really really bad. I mean it absolutely fits the hot water trash level that I expected, but the only thing I was in it for was the romance for the long suffering FMC - and that sex scene was unreadable it was so bad. So I’m done. Oh well I tried.
I'm not one of those readers that can start a book and easily not finish it, even when it's bad. There have been a few, but usually I'll persevere til the end. I wish I hadn't. All four of the main characters are varying degrees of bad. You have Doug, the cheating husband. He's a mild-to-moderate narcissist, with no redeeming qualities. Next, Wendy the homewrecker. She's a raging narcissistic drama-queen. Rachel, the wife. Rachel isn't quite as bad as the others, but she encourages forms of mild abuse and possessiveness in her new man, Jacob. Finally, Jacob, who has pined for Rachel for 10 years, all while she's married to his best friend. We are told he is good to Rachel and her kids, but what I saw was more controlling and intrusive, less care and more dominance. Add in Doug's family, including his parents, who basically disown him after the affair. Just, NO! That is not how families should be. I'm all for staying friendly for the kids/grandkids, but you don't disown your own children for that decision. While he may have been a horrible person, prior to the affair, we aren't shown, nor told, that he was. Ms. Silver needs to reevaluate what a happy ending truly is, because this isn't one. I won't be reading her books again.
Sit Back & Shut Off Mind to Enjoy the Cheating Fantasy
Silver has started this series, and honestly, some have been hit or miss in terms of quality, but this is one of the better ones. The bad guys are mustache twirling levels bad, and the scenario of their downfall is very over the top outlandish, but that makes these books the perfect spouse revenge fantasy read. I don't consider these books as legitimate romances. They read more like women's lit. A map of what a cheated on spouse would like to see happen to the cheater after the fact. The characters are bit more composed, and the writing doesn't read as amateur reckless. It was a perfectly fine, quick read.
I’ve read a lot of Jordan Silvers books and her books are sometimes a bit on the edgy side however I do think this one should possibly come with a trigger warning of domestic violence both physical and sexual which is described.
I get the whole revenge thing Wendy stealing Rachel’s husband but Wendy gets the worse end of the deal as he’s an abusive controlling alcoholic and although he loses his job and house the book seemed to punish Wendy who was the other woman far worse than him. Wendy may have gone after him but he was the one most at fault he was the one that was married and cheating not Wendy.
I dont like woman being made the scapegoat for man’s failures, it’s like blaming a victim for a crime committed against them, i didn’t like that other women in the book seemed to believe it was okay for him to be hitting her either cause she “deserves it” I felt really strongly about that statement, she has had an affair with a married man who was a manipulative abusive liar who sold her a fairytale but she deserves to be abused I don’t think so, the more I think about it the more annoyed I get, it would have been better had it concentrated more on Rachel’s new relationship and more interactions with them.
Usually I don’t write bad reviews but feel this book should come with a warning of potential triggers
Summary: This is a cheating romance, story of comeuppance. Spoilers/trigger warnings (if any) and final thoughts can be found below.
To begin to summarize the book, it is important to establish the points of view for the story. The book begins with Doug, the husband, after he has told his then wife that he has been unfaithful and wants a divorce. The next perspective is Lisa, the other woman whom Doug has been having an affair with. Then there is Rachel, the wife. And finally, there is a little bit from Jacob, Doug’s best friend who is now involved with Rachel.
When told of the affair, Rachel doesn’t react the way Doug expects which sends him into an almost paranoid tailspin, as he questions if she ever loved or cared for him. He literally becomes obsessed over her every thought and move. Lisa is no better, stalking Rachel on her socials to get every detail of her life.
As Rachel settles into happiness with Jacob, Doug and Lisa decline further into misery. The focus of this book was highlighting just how ruthless and unforgiving karma can be.
⚠️SPOILERS/DETAILED TRIGGERS⚠️
*There is detailed, very descriptive domestic violence in this book between Doug and Lisa. 🌶️: 1.5/5
Final thoughts: I started this book on cloud nine. I love a good comeuppance and it seemed the cheaters were definitely getting one. There were parts that were so obnoxious and absurd but what I might expect in a Jordan Silver book.
And then it just got dark. The scenes of violence made me incredibly uncomfortable. The implication Lisa was getting what she deserved was so wrong. Fiction or not, the way this was written just wasn’t it. Of all the things that could have been done to give comeuppance, that’s what you chose. Do better please.
It was also very repetitive. And I mean one of the worst I’ve read. Honestly, I can’t believe I didn’t DNF this book. There’s not a single character I liked except Susy. She was pretty funny. I started out liking Jacob but the way he ended up acting, with his over the top possessiveness, wasn’t cute or endearing. There is no way in hell I would ever recommend this book.

Spoilers below. Rating this a 3 cause this book got me out of my DNF streak.
Sooo Rachel and her husband Doug are getting divorced after he cheated and is leaving her for his mistress Wendy. Rachel is left heart broken with their 2 yr old son and 6 mth old daughter. She's is a SAHM and is worried about the future. Doug's best friend steps in to help her out. He later confesses that he always loved her but thought she was happy. But now that his ex BF showed his ass, he's ready to claim what should've been his from the start.
Okay, so this started off great. I was filled with rage on Rachel's behalf and happy that Jacob stepped up to help her. It was nice to see that Doug's family was also on her side and everybody hated Wendy. The first half of the story was great then it all went to hell. Suddenly Doug's an abuser and doing horrific things to Wendy. I know she's a bad person but nobody deserves what happened to her. There was very little romance in the story and then the last quarter turned into torture porn. This ain't my first time reading JS. I know to expect red flag MCs but too much of the story focused on torturing Doug and Wendy until Jacob and Rachel became an afterthought. I signed up for romance not gore. I was seriously grossed out by the end. Seriously what the fuck was that plot, JS? Who hurt you, babe?
Completely riveted and invested from the first page. I really enjoyed the multiple points of view, it kept the story moving forward and gave a great insight into all of the characters. The revenge element was well planned out and I liked that they did it to themselves. Would have liked more from Jacob and that classic Jordan Silver smut.
Provided for good entertainment Love when the ‘cheating bastard’ and ‘home wrecking Skank’ get their comeuppance The youngest sister of cheating bastard is the best 😂😂
Please don't read! Everyone in this book is just terrible. The author clearly had some revenge fantasies to work through. I wish I could unread everything.
Wow so many great things in this book. I guess it boils down to how dark do you want your romance to go? The ending(last 30 percent) went really dark(and I guess it was too dark for me). It eventually took chunks off of what would have been a definite 4 possibly 5 star rating for me. I have read more books(1 0r 2) by JS(not sure if I marked them) so I know I will seek out more of hers. Now this story is titled The Other Woman for a reason. You are going to get a lot of her POV in this book along with the ex. I don’t recall seeing trigger warnings for this book. I don’t seem to have triggers myself but I will add the triggers at the bottom of the review.
Before I get involved in spoilers etc…let me recap what I really really liked! *the heroine(Rachel) gets her HEA *the long suffering, ott in love sexy alpha(borderline psycho at times) OM/hero (Jacob)gets his HEA *the h gets the friends and ALL the family(including his) in the fallout of her husband’s cheating and leaving *the teenaged ex sil, Susy is a hoot and takes no prisoners. *multiple POV’s in the story *major comeuppance for both the ow, Wendy and the ex husband Doug ! *hot, sexy, kinky times (light bdsm) with the h and hero/om
SPOILERS ARE COMING NOW! 🛑 🛑 🛑 IF YOU ARE GOING TO READ THE BOOK AND DESPISE SPOILERS!!!! 🛑 NOW!
My goodness. I'm sure this is cathartic for any woman whose husband left them for another woman, LOL. Aside from everyone getting a storybook ending --- à la Hans Christian Anderson, there's not much to it. Silver's style of writing just isn't for me. Don't know why i keep trying. Her writing is choppy, and the characters are usually very one-dimensional---even more so in this novel. For this one, the good are picture perfect, and the bad guys are pure evil. Not much else to say.
This book started out well; I like books where the cheater gets what he wants but then realizes that he doesn't really want it. Unfortunately, the book turned into a horrifying $hitshow of revenge, blackmail, rape and domestic abuse.
