Certo?
Estelle Maskame is a novelist from Peterhead in Scotland. After gaining universal acclaim online during her teenage years, she signed a print contract with the Edinburgh-based publisher Black & White Publishing at the age of seventeen. She is best known for her international bestselling YA series, the DIMILY series.
This book is a walking STI, and was a waste of my time.
Gracie and Weston had both split from their long term partners A WEEK AGO when they met on a random night out. Gracie’s bf left her because he wants to sleep around after being together since they were 15. He wants to see other people essentially. Weston’s gf dumped him because he didn’t ‘treat her right.’ He didn’t open doors for her, cook her dinner or think about proposing 😂 right.
Firstly, both their friendship groups are dicks. What friends are determined to play wing people A WEEK AFTER your break up. Egging them on to ‘get laid’. It’s been a week 🤦🏽♀️
I love drama with exes but they’re both in LOVE with their exes right up until the middle of the book. Then a month after their retrospective breakups (they’d been with their partners for years) they love each other 😵💫
So the first spicey scene was beige, a bit closed door. And then things turned LEFT FAST 🤣🤣🤣
It was the way homegirl rode her ex LMFAO (he turned up at their apartment drunk and horny), when she knows he dumped her to see if the grass is greener, having likely dipped his wick in other women since the split, and they didn’t use a condom. She didn’t ask him to use one and he didn’t offer. Nothing. AND THEN a few days later she RODE WESTON BAREBACK 💀💀💀 and again, no conversation around protection, not even birth control. And Weston KNEW she’d slept with her ex 😭😭😭😭😭😭! This is how the clap is spread people hahahahahahaha.
Just to be clear, I have no issue with multiple partners between consenting adults both irl and in fictional contemporary romance. And I get this is fiction. But what’s concerning is that the majority of Estelle’s audience will be YA readers, who might pick this up and think these conversations around safe sex and protecting yourself aren’t important. Unless you want potentially itchy bits and an unwanted pregnancy, I’d say they are very important discussions. No, being an author isn’t conducive to acting parent or sex-ed teacher, but why wouldn’t you want to encourage these responsible conversations in your books?
THEN there was that gym scene 💀 the spice made me uncomfortable given everything that had happened right up until this point. It wasn’t sexy, as all I could think about was them sharing bodily fluids lololollllll 🥴
But the ending was the nail in the coffin for me. WHY. So the FMC needed THAT to happen in order to be single, find herself and be without a man? 🤦🏽♀️ Oh lord. And let’s just say this is NOT a romance if you call that a HEA.
How she expected to continue living in that swanky apartment after deleting her main source of income? 🥴
I loved the DIMILY series and liked everything else Estelle has written, her writing flows well and her characters are usually so likeable. But this was a real disappointment for me.
This is a review that includes spoilers. Read at your own risk but the TDLR is that it was bad.
What the fuck was that? I was enjoying this until the last twenty pages - it wasn’t too serious, cute premise, terrible sex scenes but whatever. I ignored the Insta love because it was a page turner and I saw potential. Big mistake!!!
What do you mean he died ‘in the line of duty’ as a fucking American cop in the last 20 pages so that she could move on and go travelling and profit off his death on the internet!!!?!?! What do you mean?????!?!?!!
The intense pro cop shit appeared absolutely out of nowhere. I mean, I would bet money the author is a conservative.
And despite me just not liking the narrative decisions, the last chunk of the book got too heavy too quickly and felt completely nonsensical.
The thing is, I usually get quite weepy when a character dies in a book, even if the book is bad, but this time I was just confused and enraged by the whole thing.
I’ll write a proper review for netgalley when I’ve stop raging at my screen.

Author seems to be a real dimwit for promoting this book as a romance, when it’s anything but a romance book.
This was horrible in every aspect, whether with the plot or its characters. It was pathetically boring too. And, I’m not even going to expand on that pro cop bs.
Anyway, they just met and already feel a strong ‘connection’, to talk and lament about their ex partners throughout the entire book, like real losers. It doesn't have a HEA. The heroine was ‘required’ to grow up, find herself; hero was unalived so that she could finally enter into her ‘grown up, healing era’ and monetise the said era by posting vlogs online. Even with the exception of that ending, this was a shit book anyway. And, a complete a waste of my time.
I don't know).
WHAT THE FUCK?!?! WHY did it end like that😭😭 I’ve just sat and cried. It was 5 stars until that😭😭 Send help Update: I looked at the cover and burst into tears again
What a beautiful story! I absolutely loved this book and was thinking of it a long time afterwards, but just be warned, it will break your heart! I loved the storyline of the book and Gracie & Weston were such likeable characters and so relatable. I loved the dual perspective of the book, as it gave us insight into both characters, as well as their thoughts and feelings. I really liked how their relationship progressed within the book and it enabled us to see the development of their characters, especially Gracie. She was so strong, more so at the end and I would have been a mess if that was me. The twist within the story I was definitely not expecting. Although we're given clues throughout, in regards to past experiences, it was still such a shock when it happened and it broke my heart, I was sobbing! 😢. I was a little frustrated at the time as I wanted more for the characters, but I understand why it happened. The epilogue was such a beautiful addition and was a touching ending to the story. This story was absolutely everything and I can't wait to read more from Estelle soon.
(Before reading) The spice scenes estelle has shared are gorgeous. Its a 5 star already, its not even out yet
A solid 4.25!! This was really good and was a fun summery romance for sure! Absolutely loved Gracie and Weston, their romance was gorgeous, and I also loved the side characters - I'd love to find out more about what they get up to!
However the ending really caught me off guard and was really fast tbh, although it broke my heart so maybe I don't want more detail🤣 also felt a bit weird about the sex scene immediately after Weston had seen a suicide??
I'm an Estelle fan forever and went to her first signing in Peterhead when DIMILY came out, so I will always rave about her books. Super excited for more new adult stuff❤📚

Ok, it’s not out yet, not till the 11th April anyway, but I just have to leave this here with you all. Oh wow, now there are some moments I wasn’t too sure of (but that’s just me and I appreciate that people are different and romance is such a broad genre and range of emotions that at the same time I understood) I am just going to make it clear, that I am ace, so the sexual bit of this book I was uncomfortable with because I felt no connection to how the characters felt and why getting laid was a big thing. But having said that which as I said is more about me rather than the book, the emotional journey you go on with Gracie and Weston is… man really big. These two are so wonderful for each other. I won’t spoil it for anyone because well we all need a shock and an emotional release and for me it’s not about the romance as such between two characters… as Weston says it’s the romance we have with ourselves that’s how we heal. And Gracie needs that healing more than anyone. I wasn’t sure about this, but by the end I was a blubbering wreck and yeah… it’s a special book.
The way people are so mad and literally putting this down to 1 star because of the end when that for me was literally the best ending to a romance I’ve ever read 😂
I guess if you love happily ever after and you’re just looking for a generic, same old same old type romance then this probably won’t be for you but GOD was this refreshing!
So fast paced, lighthearted yet not superficial, just all round exactly what I wanted for a new adult book.
Estelle’s first adult novel, I’m so proud of her!! This change must have been nerve-wracking, but necessary.
Gracie and Weston meet each other while suffering their own heartbreaks. Having gone through similar things, they think they can help each other. Gracie needs to become more independent and Weston more caring. Together they start to heal.
Gracie is an influencer, making money from her and her ex’s relationship. Having been with him for 7 years, it feels strange to suddenly be alone. Weston is a cop in training, but doesn’t want to be. His ex left him because he took her for granted. Gracie teaches Weston to put someone else first while Gracie needs to put herself first.
This book develops in a good pace. Gracie and Weston become friends, then start to catch feelings. I’m really sad that they didn’t end up actually together because he dies… Having only known each other for 5 weeks, I get that it would be too soon to be boyfriend and girlfriend. Still, WHY THE FUCK DID WESTON HAVE TO DIE 😭😭😭😭 I think the impact would’ve been stronger if the book had gone on a bit longer, Gracie and Weston had started dating, and then that.
But the name of book makes sense now, and is beautiful yet devastating 🧡🥺
oh. my. days. this book had me annoyed. it had me laughing. it had me sobbing every read available. im so broken yet so put together🤍 i don’t have much to say other gracie & weston i love you 🩵 you found yourselves within each other and broke my heart in the meantime ❤️🩹 I always knew sunsets were pretty 🌅🌆🌇
Oh this book is beautiful. This is the author's first foray into adult fiction having previously written YA novels and it is just gorgeous. I had read a lot of heavy books recently so was looking for a light palate cleanser. I didn't expect my heart to be broken!
It's Gracie Taylor's twenty-second birthday and her boyfriend of seven years has just left her. She is understandably heartbroken. They lived together, ran a popular couple's YouTube account and had amassed a huge following across their social media. It feels like she's lost everything.
Weston Reed is a twenty-three year old rookie cop and his girlfriend of four years has broken up with him. She didn't feel appreciated by him and he realises just how much he took her for granted.
Their friends take them out to a nightclub and Weston and Gracie's paths cross. Both in similar situations, they find themselves supporting each other and getting each other through this tough time in their lives. They soon realise that it might be more than just a friendship.
I don't want to give too much away with how the book ends but I absolutely devoured this in less than 24 hours. I loved the characters and I could feel the turmoil that they felt of still being in love with their exes but feeling guilty for potentially starting a new relationship so soon.
My heart aches but the ending is beautiful. Gracie's character development is just what she needed.
4.5 stars This book broke me and had me crying into my pillows in the early hours of the morning as I finished it. Estelle has this gripping and amazing way of storytelling that I cannot help but devour, resulting in me reading this book in one sitting. I could not put it down and I didn't want to.
Our two main characters have gone through a lot in their lives and now find themselves heartbroken as their respective relationships fall apart. They are two completely different people but I love the way their relationship blossoms. The journey these two go on is such a tough but wonderful one and I loved seeing how good they were to each other. Gracie and Weston are such relatable and realistic characters that really resonate with you.
This book isn't just about the romance, it's about healing, finding yourself and taking chances. While this was a beautiful book be warned it doesn't exactly have the happily ever after you expect. This book was at times so heart-breaking and one I know will sit with me for a long time!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
4.75 ⭐️ This book was AMAZING!!! I was laughing and smiling, I was giggling and crying. It gave me all the feels. I was invested in the characters pretty much from the very beginning. Also, can we get a moment of silence for how amazing Weston is……..moment taken.
Gracie deserved so much better than Luca to begin with. Luca was a manipulative, deadbeat, who never really cared for her in the first place. If he can leave her and say what he did at the bar after being with her for YEARS then he never cared. Also, the social media thing she does is just weird. The newer references to like Instagram, YouTube, and other social media was kinda strange to read about.
Weston never deserved his outcome!!! I literally sobbed. He never wanted to be a cop anyways!! THEN HE WENT AND DIED ON THE FORCE!!! 😭😭😭 It was so unexpected too!!! Like he was just serving a warrant and I thought he would get in a tussle decide that he hated the job and leave. BUT NO LAURA’S OPINIONS DONT MATTER!!! It just sucks that he died doing something he didn’t like. Meanwhile, Gracie is waiting for him to come home. I just feel so bad for her and the family. Anyways, I really enjoyed the book, like a lot and I will definitely be recommending this book for a while. Just to have others suffer with the ending exactly like I had to. Share the pain 😁

They book was going good, I was excited for it since it released on my birthday and got it for myself as my gift, and fuckk j hated the ending was absolutely unnecessary, unexpected and awful. It was so rushed in the end. Jt really really didn't have to end that way. I wasn't even scared after he got shot cuz I was so sure it's gonna end with them together. They deserved it, he deserved it. But I wasn't able to process how it ended. They book would have been a 4 but the moment it reached the end I hated it. It feels incomplete. I'm all for breaking my heart and sad ending but this was totally unnecessary. It could have just been a normal happy romance book. Weston deserved more, deserved to have a good life later with gracie, they didnt even make themselves an official couple for god sake. I would have loved to not read this book at all in the first place. Would have been less disappointing.
