Scarred Mountain Man

Shaw

After a brutal accident left me orphaned and riddled with scars, my appearance—and the trauma surrounding it—forced me out of town, away from the town who declared me a monster. I have been living alone in the mountains for more than a decade, with only animals and the occasional visit from my brother for company, until her. After Jean gets lost in the mountains on the way to meet her friends, I find I am the only one who can keep her safe and satisfied. She will be mine, whether she sees it or not.

Scarred Mountain Man is a modern mountain man story, featuring fast-paced romance and the forced-proximity that can make even the most reclusive of creatures fall in love.

smokin hot!!

This was a simple, straightforward, satisfying romance of scarred, reclusive hero meets sweet, innocent heroine when she gets lost in his woods!

Safe. No mention of heros past but he’s been a recluse up on the mountain for 10 years so im gonna assume he’s been celibate. Heroine is a virgin and belongs only to her hero, gives him the gift of claiming ALL her firsts for himself. No ow/om, no cheating, no sharing, no abuse. Hea with epilogue

Scarred Mountain Man by Cassi Hart, the first book in the Sweetheart Falls series, is a captivating story of love, healing, and second chances set against the breathtaking backdrop of the mountains. As someone who adores rugged, emotionally wounded heroes, I was immediately drawn to Shaw—a man whose scars run far deeper than his skin. After a tragic accident leaves him physically and emotionally marked, Shaw retreats to the mountains, finding solace in his isolation until fate delivers Jean into his life.

The story centers around the forced proximity trope, which Cassi Hart masterfully weaves into a romance that’s both tender and intense. Shaw, who has spent over a decade away from society, is portrayed as a deeply vulnerable yet undeniably protective figure. When Jean, lost and in need of help, stumbles upon his mountain sanctuary, Shaw’s instincts to guard and care for her kick in. What I loved most was how their connection developed—Shaw’s rough edges softened by Jean’s kindness, while she finds herself drawn to the mysterious man who saved her.

Jean’s character brings a beautiful balance to Shaw’s gruffness. Her warmth, compassion, and resilience in the face of her own challenges make her a perfect match for a man who has forgotten how to trust. The chemistry between them builds quickly but feels natural, given their intense circumstances. Hart does a fantastic job of making Shaw’s possessiveness feel protective rather than overbearing, and Jean’s growing affection for this scarred mountain man was both believable and heartwarming.

One of my favorite aspects of the book is the vivid setting. The wilderness isn’t just a backdrop; it’s a living, breathing part of the story that reflects Shaw’s inner turmoil and eventual healing. The mountains feel both wild and beautiful, much like the romance that unfolds between Shaw and Jean.

For fans of fast-paced, emotionally charged romances featuring reclusive, scarred heroes and the women who see past their exterior to the man within, Scarred Mountain Man is a perfect escape. It’s a tale of redemption, love, and finding home in the unlikeliest of places. Shaw and Jean’s journey will tug at your heartstrings and leave you eagerly awaiting the next book in the Sweetheart Falls series.

Jean is on her way to meet friends on a camping trip, her flight cancelled she decided to rent a car… of course it fails her on the way up the mountain, with no mobile signal and the stories she has heard about bears she starts to realise the gravity of the situation she finds herself. It’s then that she hears a noise that is going to change everything! Following the noise she discovers a naked man in the river and that she has lost more than her phone signal she has lost her heart. But this man has been hurt by people can she trust him with her heart or should she carry on up the mountain?

Shaw lost his parents and the life he thought he would have all within a few months. Scarred and recovering he is bullied by his former classmate and humiliated until he can’t take anymore he snaps giving the town a reason to treat him like the monster he now resembles. Retreating from life he moves to live on the mountain, his brother bringing him the essentials every few months. It’s years since he has seen anyone so when he is bathing in the river and turns to see an angel he is convinced he’s hallucinating, but the way she is looking at him he can tell that she is meant to be his . Will an angel want a man who lives on a mountain with nothing but him and a home or is he about to be lose his heart never to recover, will he brave the world he left behind for love?

Loved loved and loved it, this book super had beauty and the beast running through it from start to finish and I am a sucker for that. Super sweet and super sexy read. 5*

Great premise

I generally love a great OTT mountain man, and this one has a great premise. The story itself would have been fantastic, but the terms used in this are just 😬 . The repetitive use of a slang term defined by the urban dictionary as the equivalent of a booty call IMO is not what I or anyone would use to describe the love of my life. And to do so repeatedly was unappealing.

truly poor editing

Jean and Shaw meet when she comes across him swimming in the forest. Premise of the story was good however there were so many sentences that did not make any sense at all. One word in particular was scattered throughout the book and I have no idea what it meant. Dictionary didn’t even have it.

Would have been higher rating but the word “pussyy” being used in places made 0 sense and yes, most times it was spelled like that. It’s like they did a mass Find/Replace of the word ‘sex’ with ‘pussy’ and didn’t bother to review it. Made me roll my eyes so much and hate the story.

Capturing the heart of a so-called monster.

Shaw became the monster of Whitefish a few months after the accident where he was driving and his parents were killed, leaving him and his brother orphaned. It also left him with a face too scarred for reconstructive surgery. After being cornered by a bully, who was also a former classmate, he snapped. Realizing that he nearly killed the man, he decided to move to the mountains to live with the other monster animals.

Jean is going to meet up with her college friends on a camping trip. Her flight was delayed, so she would be driving to the campsite alone. Only she's beginning to feel as if she's been cast in a slasher film where she's playing the dumb blonde. First she rented the old, beat-up, "reliable" car. Next was the warning sign about bears. (She did come prepared with bear spray.) Then the car started making a whining noise. Was she smart enough to turn around and return the car? Oh no, she wanted to see her friends, so she continued her trip. An hour later, the whine became a sputtering noise, thick smoke pours out from under the hood, there's a loud clang, and the car comes to a halt. Of course there’s no cell service either. Lastly, with bear spray in hand, she decides to walk higher up the mountain road in hopes of finding cell reception; after calling her friends and the call dropping in mid-sentence, she realizes she's lost. Then she hears the murmur of water. She just has to find it and follow it back to civilization...

Part of Sweetheart Falls series each can be read as a standalone in under an hour or so but don’t start if you do not plan on reading in one setting. Jean is sweet but not sure if I would say the brightest she plans a camping trip with her friends up in the mountains everything that could go wrong seems to go wrong delayed flight, so forced to drive to the campsite, rents a car that isn’t running right when she first hears the funny noises she ignores it continuing to drive until it breaks down in an area with no cell service instead of being safe she gets out to walk up the mountain in hopes of finding cell service and to say the least she finds herself lost with the exception she hears lake water so she follows the sound in hopes of finding civilization. Shaw sexy as all get out scarred broken after an accident that took his parents leaving him, his brother orphans making him the ideal object of attention for bullies until one day he snapped nearly killing a man for bulling him about his scares and to live in peace without the looks, the pokes, the whispers he moves to the mountains away from it all where he was happy until his peace was disrupted by the beautiful stood before him. The more they were around each other the closer they got but when he came home she was gone a note was left that the park ranger took her because back because her friends called in she was missing but will it be enough for him to leave his mountain to go get his girl, will she want to live in isolation with him, will she convince him to join the land of the living with his scares, and can they find a path that leads to happiness with a little peace?

OMG! Talk about OTT possessive!!
Shaw was scarred in an accident more than a decade ago that also killed his parents. He was then basically driven out of town by people who were scared of him. He's been living alone on the mountain ever since. His brother brings him supplies every few months, but otherwise he has no contact with anyone else.
Jean is on her way to meet her friends. They're going camping up on the mountain. She's doing fine until the car she rented dies halfway up, and she can't get a signal on her phone. She starts walking to try to get a signal, and ends up getting lost. Then she hears a river and figures she can follow it. But when she gets to the riverbank, she finds the hottest guy she's ever seen waist deep in the water. When he comes toward her, she realizes he's naked.
She should be scared of him, but what she feels definitely isn't fear. He takes her back to his cabin, with the promise to get her back to town the next day.
But the longer she stays, the less sure she is that she ever wants to leave.
OMG! Shaw is intense! He's not used to seeing people up on his mountain, especially ones that don't run away from him. So when he sees Jean standing on the riverbank, he's pretty sure he ate some bad berries and he's hallucinating. That doesn't stop him from wanting to claim her as his. There are plenty of "she's mine" vibes, and it's just delicious. But he just wants to make her happy.
And I was actually feeling a little Beauty and the Beast here, and it was very sweet. And Hot!
This was a great little OTT possessive mountain man instalove story.

Jean was supposed to meet her friends up in the moutain to go camping but her car she bought broke down and she started walking but got lost and stummbled upon a huge man in the water.
Shaw had lived in the woods away from everyone after he had a bad accident when he was younger that scarred him. So when he saw the angel standing in front of him he thought it was the berries he ate that made him delusional. He went all cave man on her. Walking up and had his way with her and when she didn't leave he couldn't believe it. Then he took her to his cabin but not until she argued with him. The more they talked and learned about each other things changed.
One day the park ranger tracked her down to his cabin in the woods and took her to her friends who were worried about her. Thinking fast she typed out a message to Shaw to let him know she didn't want to leave but the ranger came and took her. So when Shaw came in from chopping wood he noticed her phone and a note on the screen. After reading it, Shaw went after his woman. when he caught up to her, she was with the guy that tormented him that made him leave to go live in the mountains. Things took a turn at that point where Jean went told her friends she was ok and her and Shaw stayed together. She loved him for him and his scars didn't bother her.

This one was hot right out of the gate and it never slacked off!

Shaw, our MMC, was badly scarred as a young man in the same accident as the one in which he’d lost his parents. Sadly, he was shunned and ridiculed by the town he’d grown up in; friends and neighbors he’d known his entire life, they all turned against him. When he suddenly lost his temper one day and grabbed one of his main tormentors, they began calling him a monster. Trying to escape the looks on their faces and the new fear in their eyes, he escaped to the mountains, vowing to live there and never set foot in the town again.

Twelve years later, Jean, the FMC, was headed into the mountains for a camping trip with friends against the warning from the man at the car rental agency when the car broke down, stranding her in the middle of nowhere. No car, no phone signal, she leaves the car, walking, searching for a signal to call for help and gets lost. Suddenly the ridiculous warnings of a crazed mountain man didn’t sound so ridiculous anymore!

I LOVED this book!! Shaw was just a big ol’ sweetheart, I just wanted to give him a big hug and tell him everything would be ok but he won in the end. He ended up with his woman and a family he never thought he’d have. It was SO GOOD and ended with the most amazing epilogue. 5 STARS!!.

She is his and he will never let her leave him

Scarred Mountain Man is the first book in the Sweetheart Falls series. This is an insta-lust/love story about Jean Watson and Shaw. She is on her way to camping with her friends from college when her rental car breaks down on the road going up the mountain. As she is trying to get some bars on her phone she wanders around and ends up getting lost. When she hears a river she thinks she can follow it down and hopefully get back to a road or town. What she was not expecting was to find a naked man in the river....and oh what a sight he is. Shaw has lived alone on the mountain for over ten years. He was injured and scarred in a car accident that also killed his parents, leaving him and his brother alone. When he is bullied and finally lashes out he runs away, believing that he is the monster people judge him to be based on his appearance. When he sees an angel he standing by the river and looking at him he thinks the berries he ate were to blame. What he does next is ..... well not sure how to describe it. But the story becomes intense, claiming, and a bit non-con.
I thought this was a quick read that was entertaining, but way OTT and sometimes a bit off. Additionally it needs a really good edit and proofreading. There were way too many mistakes and it was annoying, as it killed the flow of the story.

Jean, who is meeting her friends on a camping holiday, is having to find her own way to the site, due to problems with her flight. she hires a rental car, which has seen better days and it breaks down in the middle of nowhere. While trying to get a phone signal, she wanders off the trail by accident and now has to find her way back.

Shaw lives deep in the forest. He became a loner, due to people's reaction to him with his scarring from an accident in which he lost his parents.

While he is in the river getting washed, he sees a vision, an angel before him. He is drawn to her, she is his. This must be some kind of hallucination, he must of ate something, that hasn't agrred with him.

Jean sees this naked adonis before her, his sight set on her, is she safe, will he hurt her or will he help her?

A lovely little story showing beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Jean sees the real person before her. This man, who may be slightly wild and untamed ( which she loves) but has a good heart.

Shaw sees someone he can't push away, someone that had his heart from the first glance.

Shaw has lived up the mountain for a dozen years at least after he was scarred during an accident where his parents died. His brother brings him supplies every few months;but the fruits and vegetables he grows along with hunting and fishing supply the rest. Jean rents an old car to join her friends on the mountain to camp and catch up. The car conchs out and she wonders around trying to get a cellphone signal--no luck. She ends finding Shaw in the river in his 'birthday suit'. Jean nicknamed Angel is carrying a can of bear spray. Both are shocked to see each other; Shaw doesn't believe that she is real. Shaw takes Jean back to his cabin since it is dangerous at night to be outside. He finally tells her why he prefers to live alone up on mountain; especially the incident with Tommy about the scars on his face. A ranger shows to find after her friends haven't heard from her; he is Tommy. She is angry at people who judge others for scars. Would she possibly want to stay with her mountain man instead of returning to San Francisco? Will Shaw allow her to leave him? Could they possibly made it work for them?.

Scarred Mountain Man delivers everything you’d want from an intense, fast-paced romance set in the secluded wilderness. Shaw’s gruff, protective nature and the trauma that shaped him make him a captivating, scarred hero who can’t resist claiming the woman fate has delivered to his doorstep. The forced proximity and “lost in the mountains” setup creates the perfect storm for an explosive, insta-love connection that pulls you in and keeps you hooked.

Jean’s innocence and vulnerability make the perfect contrast to Shaw’s possessive, obsessed alpha energy. Despite his scars and rough edges, their chemistry is undeniable, and Shaw’s determination to keep her safe and make her his adds a thrilling edge to the story. This is a romance where danger, obsession, and passion intertwine, leaving you breathless by the end!

If you’re a fan of scarred heroes, reclusive mountain men, and high-heat romance with a protective alpha who’s willing to do whatever it takes to claim his woman, Scarred Mountain Man is an absolute must-read!.

When Jean (h23) gets lost in the mountains on her way to a camping trip, the last thing she expects is to encounter Shaw (h34), a reclusive mountain man physically and emotionally scarred after a tragic accident. He's lived in self-imposed isolation in the mountains for years, after the people in his hometown drove him out due to their intolerance of his physical appearance, driving him into a lonely existence where he's learned to live off the land. What begins as a tense and strange encounter quickly turns into something more powerful, as Shaw is instantly drawn to Jean, feeling a deep, possessive attraction to her. Jean, despite her initial fear, is drawn to Shaw’s raw masculinity and vulnerability. As they get to know one another, they develop a physical and emotional connection, and things heat up between the two, even as Jean feels torn between her old life or an entirely new life with Shaw in his mountain home. Hot and steamy mountain man, curvy girl romance, exploring love, desire, healing, and belonging.

Shaw was in a road accident that left her face scarred. His parents died in that accident leaving him and his brother orphans. Shaw is taunted as a monster and heads to live in the mountains. That was 14 years ago.

Jean Watson is headed to the mountains to camp with some friends. Her rental car breaks down and she has no cell phone signal. She wanders from the car to try to get a signal. She gets turned around and can’t find the car. Jean hears water and heads towards it. She figures that she can walk along the river edge until she finds civilization. What she finds is Shaw coming out of the river buck naked.

Jean is 23 and has never even been kissed before. Shaw is 24 and Jean does not know how to handle these feelings she has when she is around him. The adventure really begins when Shaw takes Jean back to his cabin in the woods. She is the only other person besides his brother that he has brought to the cabin and talks to.

I loved that Shaw’s scarred face did not even faze Jean. Cute story.

Scarred Mountain Man is an opposites attract damaged hero romance story. Author Cassi Hart continues to surprise me with her amazing storytelling and writing skills. Scarred Mountain Man is the intriguing story of Jean and Shaw. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Jean and Shaw as well as seeing their story unfold before my eyes. At times I felt that I was actually right in the book to witness their story. I couldn't get enough of Jean and Shaw's story, I found them to be both entertaining, enjoyable, interesting and intriguing characters. Scarred Mountain Man is a charming, suspenseful, and definite page-turner of a book. Scarred Mountain Man is an ease to read, romantic/steamy, unpredictable, and there is a happily ever after for the main characters. Scarred Mountain Man is certainly a book that I would suggest for anyone who is looking for a well-written, well-balanced, and beautifully executed romance story to read. Jean Watson (23) decides to head up to the mountains for a girls weekend camping trip with her college friends. Everything just seems to be falling apart and she just needs a break. Originally from San Francisco city girl through and through knows nothing about the mountains and she finds herself in the middle of nowhere with a broken down vehicle and no cell phone service.
Shaw (34) after an accident left him scarred. He retreated into the mountains away from the judgement and cruelty of the town. The story is a modern day beauty and the beast, quick read, insta-love, traumatic accident, abandonment , foster care, not feeling wanted. She only sees him and his heart doesn’t see his scarred exterior. He only sees the good in her, the light and his darkness craves her. There is a smokin’ hot scene, wowizer, makes me wanna go take a hike in the woods and maybe get lost ;).

How can you top this one? You can't! This extremely talented author does it once again. In this outstanding 5 ⭐️ ebook, Jean is going to hang out with her friends camping. Her rental breaks down and she gets lost in the mountains. She's heard of a monster living around there somewhere when she meets Shaw swimming in the river. Their attraction is too intense and sparks start to fly all around them. Have the stars aligned between Jean and Shaw or does Jean want to be with her friends? Can Jean live in the mountains with no modern amenities or her favorites? Does Shaw find a way to get Jean to realize that they're meant to be together forever or does Jean decide that Shaw is a monster because of how he looks and leaves? So if it's spicy hot passionate moments and excitement you want then I absolutely encourage you to get this surefire hit. You will be so happy you did.

I throughly enjoyed this one! After being in an accident that killed his parent and left him scarred all over one side of his face, he is mocked and tormented by the town he lives in instead of comforted. It becomes too much and he goes to the mountains.
Jean is heading up the mountain for a girls camping trip years later and the car dies, then she get lost and finds the “monster” living on the mountain.
I loved both Shaw and Jean. I truly loved how Jean doesn’t see the scars as an issue, they are just a part of Shaw. And I was so proud of Shaw for actually being open and not mean to Jean. He could have held onto the anger for the whole town and been a jerk to the first person he interacts with besides his brother, but he doesn’t. It was refreshing and he is such a OTT possessive sweetheart.
Loved the story, the steamy scenes, and the beautiful instalove of theirs.
I did receive an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

Shaw is a 34-year-old man that has been living alone in the mountains after being injured in an accident that left his face scarred, and having the townsfolk call him a beast. Jean is a 23-year-old woman who gets lost on her way to meet her friends when her rental car breaks down. Wandering around trying to get help, she comes upon Shaw bathing naked in a river. Shaw thinks he is dreaming when he sees a beautiful woman walking to him and she is not scared of him. Believing it is a dream, he has a fast, rough and raw encounter with the first female he has interacted with in over 10 years. Shaw isn’t a beast, but he is a giant hairy man.

Cassi Hart has written another delightful instalove, alpha hero, virgin, age-gap romance. The spicy scenes are hot and passionate, the dirty talk provocative, and the characters interesting and complicated. The book is an emotional, engaging, satisfying read.

mountain man romance.
Following a car accident that caused the death of his parents as well as a huge scar on his face, Shaw is treated as a monster throughout his village following an incident he decides to live alone as a recluse in the mountains. During one of his swims in the river he meets a woman resembling an angel, he then believes it is a hallucination.
Jean got lost in the mountains following numerous misadventures, she did not expect to come across a naked mountain man. Following a rather spicy encounter Shaw offers to put Jean up for the night and to accompany her back to town the next day despite feeling a lie on this last point she decides to follow him.
Will Shaw manage to confess his feelings to hold him captive and scare Jean….
