Becoming Fearless by Dr. Benjamin Ritter is a profound exploration of how fear can paralyze us and prevent us from moving forward in life. Ritter approaches this issue from both personal and professional perspectives, making the book a comprehensive guide for holistic transformation. On the personal side, Ritter offers practical strategies to overcome fears that affect mindset, success, relationships, and meaning. These strategies are simple yet powerful, encouraging readers to reframe their thoughts, embrace their emotions, and create a positive environment. From a professional standpoint, Ritter is equally insightful. He addresses fears related to job satisfaction, leadership presence, and career growth, emphasizing the importance of self-belief, celebrating successes, and focusing on creating happiness rather than constantly chasing it. Each piece of advice serves as a call to action, motivating readers to practice and integrate these strategies into their daily routines until they see a positive shift in their lives.
Ritter’s deep understanding of the power of fear is evident in his compassionate approach. He acknowledges that the journey to becoming fearless is not easy, but reassures readers that it is attainable with dedication and effort. By encouraging readers to focus on one area at a time and gradually build confidence, he provides a realistic and manageable roadmap to overcoming fear. This compassion and sensitivity to the reader’s individual journey are among the qualities that set this book apart, helping to establish a strong connection with the reader and making them feel safe enough to try the suggested strategies. The book reads like a personal life coach—patient, systematic, and empathetic. This is reflected in the tone and choice of language throughout. Dr. Ritter's approach is also notably flexible. While the book outlines steps, the order in which they are followed is not rigid. This flexibility reflects Ritter's understanding of his audience, allowing readers to engage with the material in a way that resonates with their personal experiences. The Becoming Fearless Worksheet that accompanies the book is a valuable tool for tracking progress and staying committed to personal growth.
Becoming Fearless is an empowering guide. It takes simple, actionable steps and transforms them into the keys to conquering fear. The fact that it addresses every aspect of life is the icing on the cake. With this book, readers are equipped to leave their fears behind and reach heights they may never have imagined possible. In a world filled with so much to fear, Becoming Fearless is both relevant and invaluable.
Although we live in a word where it seems that everybody wants to become a celebrity and have people notice them, the reality is that beneath all this seeming confidence there are a lot of individuals who suffer from self doubt and anxiety, sometimes paralysingly so. For anyone who has been in that space where they do literally feel paralysed with indecision and fear about how to live their life, this book is a solid starting point.
The best thing about the book is that each topic is simple and to the point. It identifies what the fear is and gives a couple of achievable strategies to consider. There is no gung ho requirement to "get out there" and take huge steps, instead it focuses on those important first steps that lead to building confidence and momentum. While the reader may not face every fear listed there will be many that resonate as it covers both personal and professional avenues of self doubt.
On the flip side I do feel that the book lacked any real depth of the ideas presented. For those seeking a deeper understanding of how and why anxiety and self doubt manifest and coming to grips with how the suggested solutions will help them, this book might not deliver on that front. Some real life example would have helped here with some more specific steps to take.
Overall, though, this book is a non-confrontational first step to overcoming self doubt and anxiety. It's easy to read format and achievable solutions could be that very important first step to life changing growth and self awareness.
We live in an age in which it seems the media, social media, and entertainment all want to keep us nervous, on edge, and even scared for what’s around the corner. Given that environment, Becoming Fearless by Dr. Benjamin Ritter is a timely and useful book for people of all ages.
Dr. Ritter offers 65 tips to help people transition “from self-doubt to self-mastery,” as the book’s subtitle reads, and there is a lot of great advice presented in an easy-to-read, concise manner. Ritter helpfully divides the book into two sections, Personal and Professional, and the topics range from dreaming bigger to making sure your finances are in order.
At the end of each section, the author highlights a single sentence that encompasses the gist of the chapter, which I think is a great idea. The sentence at the end of the “Show up as an executive” section, for example, reads, “If you want to be included in strategic discussions and treated like an executive, then you are going to have to start acting like one.”
Based on his bio at the end of the book, Ritter sounds like a dynamic individual who truly cares about people’s personal growth. He is the founder of Live for Yourself Consulting, the host of a few podcasts (which I’d like to listen to), and has coached hundreds of clients from a wide variety of organizations.
Overall, this is a great read if you want to discover ways to conquer your own doubts in a world that can sometimes feel overwhelming and tough.
In my 40+ years of HR experience, I’ve read countless books on management, leadership, and emotional intelligence. Few have been as impactful, concise, and powerful as Dr. Benjamin Ritter’s Becoming Fearless.
This book is the result of years of meticulous research, the experiences of a vast population of individuals Dr. Ritter has coached and developed through his Fearless Framework, and an undeniable passion for helping others overcome obstacles.
We’ve all heard the equation: F = False, E = Expectations, A = About, R = Reality. What makes Becoming Fearless stand out is how it reframes the concept of fear, offering a fresh perspective and actionable insights.
For me, the true measure of a great book is the number of notes, highlights, and exclamation marks scattered throughout its pages. I can confidently say Becoming Fearless is brimming with underlined sentences, margin notes, and moments that left a lasting impression.
If you’ve ever experienced fear in your professional or personal life—and let’s face it, who hasn’t?—this book will not only help you confront and diminish its power but also guide you to embrace the growth that comes with it.
I wholeheartedly recommend Becoming Fearless. It’s a transformative read that will inspire and empower you on your journey.
After spending years feeling pretty low and unmotivated, I stumbled upon this book and thought, "Hey, maybe I should read this and see how I feel afterward."
Now, I’ll be honest, I don’t usually gravitate toward books like this. I’ve always been able to keep myself motivated without much outside help. But after my most recent business venture, I found myself in a mental rut. My confidence was shot, and I started questioning everything I thought I was good at. I had put myself out there and was experiencing for the first time, public criticism and learning now to navigate with a thicker skin.
Reading this book changed that.
Not only was it a great motivator, but it helped me reframe the way I look at failure and setbacks. The tone wasn’t preachy or sugarcoated. It was honest, real, and somehow exactly what I needed.
By the time I finished, I felt lighter. More hopeful. And for the first time in a while, I felt capable again. I picked up where I had left off on my business with more motivation to push forward and not give up.
If you’re in a season where doubt is louder than your drive, I genuinely recommend giving this a read. You never know...like me, you might just find the push you’ve been needing.
Becoming Fearless: 65 Strategies to Journey from Self-Doubt to Self-Mastery (by Dr. Benjamin Ritter) is a book for those looking for the kind of no-frills help it offers. But isn’t charming or interesting writing, fiction or non, what usually makes a book work? Prospective readers are advised to go through the sample of the book on Amazon before buying it, because its 156-page length could be deceptive. Pages are nearly always less than half filled with text, and rather clipped text at that. Many pages have only a couple of lines of text. And many are even blank. A lot of platitudes are spouted and accompanied by suggestions on how to implement them. And while the minimalist advice is good, if perhaps often obvious — though the second half of the book, addressing professional applications, is more detailed — the thing reads more like the handout that comes with a lecture. But then, such handouts can be handy references, even for those who miss the actual lecture with all its memorable anecdotes and such. And considering all the five-star reviews this book has garnered to date, that may be enough for readers seeking this kind of advice.
I am absolutely delighted with “Becoming Fearless” by Benjamin Ritter, a truly inspiring work from a remarkable author. Dr. Ritter’s expertise shines through in this transformative book, which offers a refreshing approach to personal and professional growth. His thoughtful guidance encourages readers to embrace change and build confidence in a way that feels both authentic and empowering. The book’s structure is a testament to his skill, providing a wealth of wisdom that is easy to integrate into daily life. The Kindle formatting is excellent, making navigation a breeze and enhancing the overall reading experience with its clear layout and accessibility. This is a must-have resource for anyone looking to overcome challenges and unlock their potential. Dr. Ritter’s ability to connect with readers on a deep level is commendable, and his work leaves you feeling motivated and ready to take on new horizons. I highly recommend this five-star gem to anyone seeking a positive shift in their journey. The impact of this book is undeniable, and I look forward to revisiting its insights time and again.
Among the many self-help books available, Dr. Ritter's book is a particularly useful and practical manual. This isn't a book of abstract theories but a well-crafted toolkit for anyone ready to bridge the gap between their aspirations and their current reality. The book's writing is incredibly practical. Each of the 65 strategies is presented with a clear, direct mission, beginning with the empowering phrase, "You are fearless when you...”, that serves as the first call to action, reinforced by a succinct conclusion at the end of each section. Every strategy is presented in short, digestible chunks, making it easy to absorb. With straightforward, relatable language and no overpowering jargon, the book skillfully tackles fears of both personal and professional nature, offering insights into cultivating a positive mindset, improving relationships, finding purpose, and building confidence. It addresses the anxieties and uncertainty that many people experience while providing a firm but gentle nudge toward real improvement. A guide that respects your time and delivers impactful, applicable wisdom.
I downloaded the audiobook version of Becoming Fearless: 65 Strategies to Journey from Self-Doubt to Self-Mastery and listened to it in full. While it promises 65 strategies for overcoming self-doubt and building confidence, many of these strategies are not directly about to become fearless. They often branch into broader themes such as achieving goals and success, living a happier life, and general self-growth. The structure is simple: each section begins with "You are fearless when..." followed by advice that, while generally positive, remains vague and generic. There’s no clear progression, and the content feels more like loosely grouped motivational snippets than a step-by-step guide. To make matters worse, the delivery comes across as preachy and instructive, yet without real-life examples to make the ideas relatable or actionable. To its credit, the book works as light, bite-sized inspiration—perfect for quick boosts or coffee table flipping. But if you’re looking for a practical, example-rich, and insight-driven personal development book, you’ll find much stronger options elsewhere.
"Becoming Fearless: 65 Strategies to Journey from Self-Doubt to Self-Mastery," by Dr. Benjamin Ritter, is a fast, direct, mostly realistic strategy guide to be more confident and proactive in your personal and professional life. The writing is crisp, the ideas are well-presented, it does not feel like an exercise in artificial intelligence, and most of the advice is plausible. Most.
As with any self-help book by someone who appears to be fairly young with somewhat ambiguous credentials (Dr. Ritter "possesses a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership with a focus on value congruence and job satisfaction," which could mean lots of different things, legitimate or otherwise, but typically Ph.D.s would at least list the institution), there are occasional laughable notions, more common in the professional section, such as "Choose the meetings you attend" or "Show up as an executive." There may be circumstances where such conduct might not get you fired in fairly short order, but anyone following this guide should exercise caution.
That said, I recommend this book for offering many useful nuggets that, if followed, could improve your life.
Becoming Fearless: 65 Strategies to Journey from Self-Doubt to Self-Mastery by Benjamin Ritter offers simplistic advice on how to conquer self-doubt and be successful on personal and professional levels. The strategies are given in soundbites with concise explanations. There is an additional resource, “Becoming Fearless Worksheet” available and the author offers coaching and classes on the webpage.
This book has a positive vibe. There’s more ‘do this’ than ‘stop that’ within. It is a quick read. There’s overlap in information. The book really doesn’t need to be divided into two sections. A note of how each strategy can apply to various situations, both personal and professional, would suffice, in my opinion.
Is it worth reading? It depends. If you find yourself unable to move forward due to self-doubt and you don’t want a bulky tome, then yes, it is. The strategies are sound, and the explanations and advice are easily understood. This book can give you the encouragement necessary to move ahead, if you are stuck and unsure how to proceed. If you are looking for a deep dive into self-doubt and how to conquer it, this book is not for you.
Becoming Fearless promises 65 strategies for overcoming self-doubt and building confidence, but in reality, it reads more like a collection of motivational snippets than a true guide to transformation.
Each page starts with "You are fearless when..." followed by advice that, while generally sound, remains vague and generic. There is no clear journey or progression, just a loosely grouped pile of half-page affirmations. If you're hoping for a structured path, deeper insight, or actionable guidance, this book likely won’t meet your expectations.
You’ll be done reading it in under 60 minutes. The pages are half-filled and heavily styled, with visual elements taking up space that could have been used for more meaningful content.
To be fair, if you're looking for bite-sized reminders or a coffee table flip-through for light inspiration, this might serve that purpose. But if you're searching for a practical, motivating, and insight-rich personal development book, you'll find stronger options elsewhere.
This genre really spoke to me and I love the title, “Becoming Fearless.” I’m always looking for resources to share with my clients as a mental health professional. Insecurity and fears of failure/rejection is a frequent challenge I find my clients struggling with. The author, Dr. Benjamin Ritter, possesses a doctorate in Organizational Leadership, as well as, an MBA in Entrepreneurial Management and an MPH in Health Policy Administration. That said, the author takes a practical approach and focuses on key strategies for improvement.
Overall, I really liked the shorter chapters with specific emphasis and tactics. The chapter on shifting from victim to creator and the author’s emphasis on how negative self-talk and complaining leads us to more negativity rather than reward us with success really spoke to me. I also like the focus on changing from a “have to” mentality to a “want to” one to foster motivation and action. All the chapters offered good approaches. I will recommend this book to my clients.
“Becoming Fearless: 65 Strategies to Journey from Self-Doubt to Self-Mastery” by Dr. Benjamin Ritter is motivating and practical—a must-read for intentional living.
Dr. Ritter wrote this book in such a way that it is very user-friendly, in that the reader can choose where to begin and which strategies to apply, whether seeking personal or professional self-improvement. The chapters are short and to the point. I appreciate Dr. Ritter’s directness and brevity.
Dr. Ritter’s book is a relatable, practical guide for personal and professional growth. The book is filled with actionable strategies that encourage readers to tackle issues such as fear and self-doubt. The tone is direct, making complex ideas easy to understand and to put into practice. Whether you feel your career lacks forward motion or you simply want your personal life to be more purposeful, this book offers an encouraging push in the right direction. I highly recommend “Becoming Fearless” by Dr. Benjamin Ritter to anyone ready to defeat fear and level up to their full potential.
I had to read this book over and over not because it was difficult to read, but because it was something I needed to learn. This book to me is right up there with with “How to win friends and influence people,” if it ends up selling a great ordeal or read about I think it will be come one of those self help books everyone reads - includes the I don’t read self help but it’s so popular type. I would ended up these past 3 month or so flipping back and forth highlighting areas to which I could apply and related to my life or current situation. This book also has me thinking back to different scenarios that I could have used it. I can honestly say with all that being said I like this book a lot and I’m glad I read it the way I did so I can actually learn and apply it to use. Took me this is one of the best self help books I have read in a long time. 4 1/2 stars only because it’s a work in progress- meaning me and trying to become fearless.
This book may begin with pointers on facing fear, but it has many expanding emotional based ideas that can apply to self development and career issues.I think some would apply to an individual at various times in their life and not in others. Approaching trust issues sticks out for me because of our current political environment. Asking questions and increasing curiosity are good for interpersonal skills of course but also for personal happiness. Knowing what you do best and worse can be by asking other people but it is just data.
Many children grow up with limited self esteem. This book will give power tools for that. However, the work to apply these to the self is still the responsibility of the self. NO magic bullets, just good analytical pointers to put to thought. and then apply. See if you are improving or not with the one or two items you work with. Recommend for people who don't believe in magic or absolute perfection, just improvement.
I loved... 90% of this book, and the other 10% didn't apply to me, which is great! The book is set up as simple, thought-provoking statements in various categories (e.g. relationships, purpose, success, mindset). Each statement has a few paragraphs to explain and give color. My favorite way to use this book is to skim it until you find a statement that really punches you - that has a direct impact on how you're thinking about an aspect in your life.
Some of the statements (the 10%) didn't apply to me but might apply to you. That's what I love about this book. It's not a book that tells you what to do, it provokes you, inspires you, and helps you reframe something in your life in a different light. I've found it to be an incredibly helpful tool that will help almost anybody, regardless of their situation or what they're working through.
What I really liked about Becoming Fearless is how easy it was to read without ever feeling shallow. The strategies are short and simple, but they actually make you pause and think about how fear shows up in your own life. I didn’t feel pressured to do everything at once—instead, I could just try out one or two ideas and see the difference right away. It’s the kind of book you can keep on your desk or nightstand and flip open whenever you need a little push. Some days I only had time for a few pages, but even that was enough to shift my perspective. What makes it stand out is that it’s practical and real. There’s no fluff, no heavy theory—just clear advice you can actually use. It reminded me that courage isn’t about being fearless, it’s about taking small, consistent steps in spite of fear. I’d absolutely recommend it.
The words “Becoming Fearless...” sound too good to be true and probably are. So ignore the first half of the book’s title, focus on the second half of the title (“65 Strategies”), and know you’re getting a brief snippet of every kind of practical tip you can think of to improve yourself.
It gives you new ways of looking at things. It gives you action items to improve yourself and your life in particular ways. And this is not limited to your personal life. You should note that the second section of the book is tips for your professional life, in case you find yourself trying to apply the first section’s personal tips to your profession.
Among the perspectives and actions I enjoyed (spoiler alert): despite emotion, you can still act, and actions can change your emotions; a promotion could mean more responsibility, but that doesn’t mean you’re responsible for everything; and treat others like it’s their birthday.
Even when you run across a tip or two that you’ve tried and didn’t work in a past situation, you still know that it’s a great mindset or action item for a novice to start with.
Ben Ritter's book Becoming Fearless is going to be one that I share regularly with others. The insights are so incredibly practical, the wisdom is easily digestible, and the format is useful as daily exercises to grow your muscle of "becoming fearless." Self-doubt is a constant companion for so many of my clients (as well as myself at times), and Ben's book is a fantastic resource that I will continue to utilize for my own growth and development as I encourage others to do the same. Grab a copy of this book - read it - and learn. You'll never regret the growth that happens as a result.
This was a good reminder of many positive thinking strategies and how our thinking can and does impact our lived experiences. It is divided into two sections, one for our personal lives and one for our professional.
A feature I liked about this book and that allowed me to read it quickly is that the right page reiterates an important sentence from the left. I found myself reading the right side and then going back and reading the longer passages on the left. As I thumbed through this book again, I opened it to page 33 which reminded me “The things you worry about today, won’t be the things you care about in the future.” In this way, the 141 pages are fun and easy to read, and left me feeling very upbeat and thankful I found it in the new book rack.
What I love most about this book is that you can essentially flip it to any page and it'll be a great reminder of the things you didn't know you've forgotten: power, courage, self-mastery, and love. Any of the 65 strategies that Benjamin mentions could be a beautiful gateway to self-discovery. This is a great book to own and to gift -- highly recommend. :)
Benjamin’s work is a transformative guide for anyone feeling trapped by their fears, whether in the workplace or personal relationships. Benjamin dentifies the barriers fear creates and provides clear strategies for overcoming them. His insights into rethinking rejection and embracing vulnerability feel both refreshing and practical. A must-read for personal development and self-help.
Great book that offers a number of strategies on how to reframe thinking in personal and professional environments. Grateful to have received this book for free in a giveaway. Enjoyed this read.
