Another crime is committed near Zoe. This time in her backyard. She can’t help but investigate against her boyfriend's wishes. There are more suspects and clues to look into than before, from new neighbors, to her past bullies, including an estranged sister's secrets. When the offender turns their sights on Zoe, who can she count on to rescue her? After all, no one listened to her theories.
Emily is the author of several young adult, new adult, mystery and romance novels. She lives in a small town in Ohio similar to the towns in her stories. Her favorite place to read is in her pool.
I really enjoyed this book. It’s a follow up from the author’s first book, Case In Truth, which also is very good. Zoe has to solve another mystery and as usual doesn’t always come to the right conclusions. This leads to a strain in her relationship with her boyfriend, Chase.
I loved how the solving of the mystery contained to build until all was revealed. If I had to critic anything, I wish the author had given more detail at the end of the novel. For me, it wrapped up a little too quickly. Nevertheless, I recommend this book, but suggest you read Case In Truth first to better understand the relationships and dynamics of the characters. If you like YA Crime Mystery this is a fun read.
I want to thank the author for an early copy of her e-book. I am enjoying her books and hope this becomes a series. I need to know what Zoe and Case do next.
I liked the way the book started. We took off with the events that ended the first book. It was interesting to watch Katie and Zoe sort of get closer. I wish there weren’t this conflict between them so they could actually become friends someday. Throughout the whole book, both Katie’s friends, the new cop, and his father all seemed suspicious. They were acting so strangely at times. But even with that, I wasn’t sure who the real villain was, and I was a bit surprised by the reveal. The last few chapters were an emotional rollercoaster. In my head, I yelled at Zoe to bang on the door or do something, just to try harder to make someone hear her, even though I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t have changed anything. I’m happy with the way the book ended, though. I am really glad we got a “clear” ending and no cliffhangers this time, but I do hope Emily Camp will write another book about Zoe and Case. Still holding on to the hope of Zoe and Katie becoming closer someday. 😁 Overall, I really enjoyed this book, and I hope we’ll get more.

I started this book immediately after Case in Truth. Especially that cliffhanger! I needed answers! I won’t be posting any spoilers in my review.
But I will say as Emily did in Case in Truth. She gave you multiple suspects it could’ve been, she gave you drama between Zoe & Case. There were multiple people who could’ve done this because Katie had so many enemies. Even though, everyone told Zoe to stay away from this case and not mess with it….Zoe couldn’t stay away! She had to get answers even at the jeopardy of arguing with her boyfriend and putting herself in dangers way!
How the first book Case In Truth ended, I was patiently waiting for this book! I can tell you now that honestly it was worth the wait…. Emily knew exactly what she was doing with this one. The mystery and suspense was so good… I love Zoe and Case so much! How it ended I’m really hope there is more to come, because I can’t get enough of them two. Definitely recommend reading the first book first, before reading this one.
