The author's creative take on Taoism adds interest and relevance to the concept. The comparison to cat behavior makes the concepts easier to grasp. Of course the recommended relaxing with a purring cat is pretty awesome. It was wonderful to read about the healing effects of purring and sound baths. Great book for cat lovers, those interested in learning about Tao, and for those simply interested in finding new ways to achieve greater calm.
This was 5 star for me personally but I would advise that you don't use this book unless you are a confirmed cat lover. If you accept a cat as a philosopher and not merely a little pet, you can understand the way they manage to remember what needs to be remembered and shake off various traumas: they don't forget, but they don't ruminate. Using approaches from Taoism and Buddhism and zoology and anthropomorphism, I found comfort and a bit of "cuteness" in this book.
I recommend this book in conjunction with therapy if you are in grief, or distress, or under pressure, or facing loss AND if you love cats, and think of them as natural philosophers.
