I'm sure we've all heard "All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten", well now I can say "All I Really Need to Know I Learned From My Cats".

The chapters are:
The Art of Relaxation
The Power of Presence
Embracing Playfulness and Curiosity
The Joy of Simplicity
The Grace of Flexibility
Silent Communication
The Healing Power of Purring
Boundaries and Independence
Rituals and Routine
Unconditional Love and Loyalty
The Serenity of Solitude
The Timeless Wisdom of Cats

Is there any other guidance you need to get through life?! Things like: Embracing stillness, mindful listening & interaction, mindfulness during stress, be playful, explore new interests, living a simple life, flexibility - physical and within our relationships, eye contact, embrace activities that use your senses, self-care, connection, loyalty, etc.

All of these are simple truths that we know, but this short book brings all this together in the form of Zen wisdom. It was a bit repetitive, as some concepts showed up in several chapters, but I didn't mind - there are certain truths that apply to many areas of our lives.

These sentences especially resonated with me:
"Reflect on the balance between independence and connection in your life... identify ways to achieve a healthier balance. Deepen connections and consider setting aside dedicated time for meaningful interactions."

The author's creative take on Taoism adds interest and relevance to the concept. The comparison to cat behavior makes the concepts easier to grasp. Of course the recommended relaxing with a purring cat is pretty awesome. It was wonderful to read about the healing effects of purring and sound baths. Great book for cat lovers, those interested in learning about Tao, and for those simply interested in finding new ways to achieve greater calm.

This was 5 star for me personally but I would advise that you don't use this book unless you are a confirmed cat lover. If you accept a cat as a philosopher and not merely a little pet, you can understand the way they manage to remember what needs to be remembered and shake off various traumas: they don't forget, but they don't ruminate.
Using approaches from Taoism and Buddhism and zoology and anthropomorphism, I found comfort and a bit of "cuteness" in this book.

I recommend this book in conjunction with therapy if you are in grief, or distress, or under pressure, or facing loss AND if you love cats, and think of them as natural philosophers.
