Thank you to @prbythebook and @girlfridayproductions for the SUPERAGING WORKBOOK by David Cravit and Larry Wolf. I asked for this workbook, and I got it. I am not required to write a positive review, and my opinions are my own.
I would say that for the first time in my life I’m feeling kind of old, or like it’s on the horizon. It is a possibility, and if time keeps flying like it has been, it is going to come soon. I have so much to look forward to and don’t want to give in to “default aging”. I want to be a SuperAger! We are living longer, and those years after retirement can be a great time of life and I want them to be!
The SuperAging Workbook helps us get ahead of aging and prepare for it. It gets US to think of what WE want and expect. In their SuperAging book (this workbook can be standalone), the authors break SuperAging down into seven components- Attitude, Awareness, Activity, Autonomy, Achievement, Attachment and Avoidance. In the workbook they focus on teaching us about each (and they aren’t all what they sound like), with quizzes and questions to help us understand where we stand with relation to them. I love hearing about studies and research, thinking about my dream life, what I want to do for fun, my goals, and practical things like learning about my ideal “longevity team”. The stories about people in their fifties through nineties achieving their dreams are very inspirational. I love having permission to write ALL OVER a book, too.
I learned so much going through this workbook, and I have been given tools to have a healthy, happy SuperAger life if all is up to me!
It has an audience. As an avid reader and pre-retirement I found I was across all the factors they raised. It is a great workbook for those that are starting on their planning journey and like quizzes and thought provoking questions to identify their areas of focus. Thank you to the authors. Thank you to #netgalley and the publisher for an ARC.
This workbook was not the typical how to live a long healthy life book. It was mostly basic information, of lifestyle, community and attitude, and I guess I expected more. Maybe if I read the book that goes along with this workbook, I would have gotten more out of it.
Thank you, Net Galley and Girl Friday Productions, for the ARC in return for my honest opinion.
