Eloise Grey wasn't looking for me… but I was looking for her.
To be fair, I didn't know she was the girl I'd been obsessed with until it was too late.
I was on the fast track to making my NHL dreams a reality with my girl by my side.
She was my whole world. My kryptonite... till she got it wrong.
I never chose another over her. She saw what she wanted to see, and now she's my ex— a title I never agreed to.
Now, I want a girl that doesn't want me back.
But that won't stop me. Especially when I come home for the holiday, and there's a blond-haired baby boy with big blue eyes who looks a lot like me.
She's keeping secrets, and now I'm competing with a past full of them. However, she doesn't know I have one too: she was always meant to be mine.

Publisher's Note: Each book in the Copper Falls series features a different Grey sibling, and as such, each book can be read as a standalone. Scoring Grey contains a guaranteed happily-ever-after and no cheating.

L.A. Ferro

L.A. Ferro has had a love for storytelling her entire life. For as long as she can remember she put herself to sleep plotting stories in her head. That thirst for a good tale led her to books where she became an avid reader.

The unapologetically dramatic characters, steamy scenes, and happily ever afters found inside the pages of romance novels irrevocably transformed her. The world of romance ran away with her heart, and she knew her passion for love would be her craft.

When she’s not trailing after one of her three crazy kids, she loves to construct messy ‘happily ever afters’ that take her readers on a journey full of angst, lust, and obsession with page-turning enchantment.

Chasing her literary dreams, she hopes to captivate her readers with the stories that have lived rent-free in her mind for years. As an avid reader, dominant alpha males and feisty heroines have always stolen her heart and she is optimistic her books will bring the same amount of heart and heat that inspired her.

Just when I think these writers today can't get any worse, they always do.

SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

MCs were a couple in HS and in love though they never said the words to each other. Author portrays them as soulmates with a deep love but you never see this on page at all.

So we start the story at age 18 with FMC attending a party in MMC's home. She goes into his Father's Office bathroom to take a pregnancy test which is positive and is shocked. We have a detail description of her taking the pregnancy test which included getting pee in her hands, etc (why did we need the details? Lol). Afterwards, his father (who loathes her) walks in and spreads some vitriol her way and threatens to go after her family if she doesn't back off from his son.

Hiding in the room under his desk is MMC's friend who overhears the whole conversation and knows now about the pregnancy so tells her to go and talk to MMC because it's his baby too. He then leads her to MMC where they find him on the couch being straddled by OW.

She then leaves the house and next scene is 6 years later in the present where we learn that they co-parent their kid (which she never told him about if not for him running into her accidentally after she gave birth & kid was 2 months old). However, MMC is tired now of waiting for her to come back to him so he decides to win her back as this is his last chance otherwise he is afraid they would most likely both move on with OP.

So the brilliant MMC (being sarcastic here...) never knew that FMC saw him with OW or that his Father threatened her. When she walked away, he never went after her to find out what happened and why she broke things off. He was just hurt and thought she had moved on with his friend. We get the scene from his POV of what happened that night at his party which is that he was drinking all night and at one point the OW who was then his coach's daughter (he's a hockey player) gave him a vodka drink which he thinks may have been roofied so when he sat down on the couch, the OW straddled him and he immediately pushed her off him and walked away from her & his guests to go sleep it off in another room. FMC didn't see all this. She just felt that he betrayed her.

Next day, FMC & his friend (the one who heard her & his Father) are sitting in a corner at school and MMC looks at them and automatically assumes she is now with OM so he puts his arm around the OW to make it look like they are a couple now to piss off FMC and thereby ends their relationship as lovers and begins a co-parenting only type relationship.

Now in the present, 6 years later, we have MMC trying to make things right with FMC even though he doesn't have any idea of what went wrong and won't know for a good 90-95% because FMC doesn't like to share info with the man she supposedly loves. LOL.

Fun fact if you want to know of his brilliant idea to win her back was to hire an OM to fake propose to her so that she could see that the dream she has of finding someone to grow old with is with him - not OM. He wanted her to choose him over the OM and of course that's what she did.

Now make it make sense author. How the hell does hiring someone to woo the woman you claim to love and want back and have OM propose to her make her want to chose him? He is okay with the supposedly love of his life kissing, making out and falling in love with the OM? He is okay with the fact she accepted the proposal? He is okay that his kid may have loved the OM and gotten attached to him? He is okay that the kid's heart may have gotten broken when/if she & OM break up?
This was BEYOND any stupidity I could think of that was ever written!

And as far as any info in regards to the OM & her, all we get is that she he was nice, handsome and a great kisser but they never went beyond that but she did accept his proposal and was wearing the engagement ring at the beginning. Then we skip next page to her having found out the MMC hired the OM to pretend to propose to her and she wasn't even mad? We got no info on her relationship with OM if she was in love with him or not, if she was hurt about the deception or even how she found out and who told her that it was fake. I would at least expect a big blow up fight between her & MMS for the deception, but nothing....

And since this is a 2nd chance trope, of course he wasn't celibate. In the first half, he told FMC that he f****d puck bunnies and I am not sure but I thought he confirmed this in a POV as well but author changed it up towards the end by telling FMC that he only f****d one OW after they had broke up and no one else after that. FMC of course was frozen. Celibacy & consistency is not this author's strong suit and nor it seems does it bother her characters either.....

So after all that, we then skip to next page where we now have FMC moving to Canada and into a condo across from MMC for an undisclosed period of time, leaves her kid with her Father & brother and outside of 1 or 2 very brief appearances in the end, we never see them interact with said kid.

So for 90-95% of the story, we have a selfish FMC who constantly pushes MMC away and only thinks about her own wants & needs. First she moves across from MMC into a condo so that they don't have sex as she wanted to see if they had anything else in common but she is constantly giving mix messages, acting hot & cold and acting inappropriately.
Ex: Up until 90%, she stops him every time from having sex. He often gets her off but she never returns the favor and in one scene he even gets mad and tells her off how he just gave her a big orgasm (or two) and she did nothing for him! That scene is awful as he had a right to be angry at her and yet she felt no guilt at all. She just went to sleep.
Then there were other scenes where she brought a male platonic friend to stay in her condo with her and hung out with him and even shacked up in a cabin with him for 2 days when car or weather prohibited them from coming home. MMC tells her that if it was him acting like this, she would be angry with him and he was right! Then there was the constant begging from MMC for her to attend his games and she kept resisting and hurting him for very lame reasons. All in all, FMC was a very selfish heroine who only thought of herself and I couldn't stand her!

Somewhere in the middle we have OP trying to come between them, including the OW from the past coming in to break them up again, two OM who are just friends to her but raises the jealousy aspect from MMC, a mystery to solve of why MMC's Father hates her & her family, another mystery having to do with her Mother and how she is involved with some stuff and so on.

Anyway, this one sucks lemons people and all the ARC readers raving about it are full of shit.

4.5⭐️ Cal was a man obsessed—and I lived for his possessiveness and jealousy. Give me all the “mine” moments! He was the perfect mix of alpha with a soft side, demanding but patient, understanding, and so freaking devoted.

The tension had me on edge, but not in the usual way. There was a buildup of suspense and drama that I thought was coming…but it never did! This is a second-chance romance with a secret and a deep backstory.

And some of the things revealed - if there’s another book in this series, I really hope it’s about who I think it is.

Cal and Eloise dated in high school, drama caused them to break-up the night she found out she was pregnant. They’ve co-parenting since, with Cal conspiring for their reunion. Eloise has agreed to work on their relationship by staying near Cal during his hockey season. Now, this is totally a me thing, I understand they are protecting their son by focusing on their relationship separately, and I know they FaceTimed him (mostly off-page), but I would have loved him to have a bigger role in the story. (This is probably because single parent romances are my favorite trope!). I know not everyone will feel this way.

This was an amazing read and the writing is eloquent, definitely deserving of all the stars! From the moment I started, I was fully invested in Cal and his possessive, heart-of-gold love. My heart broke for the years he lost with his family.

I'm not sure how this book is rated so high. Did we read the same book? Did my Kindle download the wrong version or something? This book was all over the place.
(possible spoilers ahead)

H and h were a couple in high school. She became pregnant. H's dad threatened her (why?) She goes to tell H about the baby but some OW is grinding all up on him. She leaves without saying anything.

Then suddenly, we are 6 years in and she arrives at a condo and her POV is all over the place. She drinks wine and then falls asleep. Next, H is banging on her door. He wants to know why she is in this condo and not his condo. (I was so confused)

From his POV we know they have a kid together. We also find out that he hired another guy to date/propose to h. HOW DOES THIS MAKE ANY SENSE?? If H loves h, then why would he be okay with the possibility of her loving another guy? I had to re-read this part about 10 times just to get my brain to accept this dumb plotline. She quickly finds out about this plot and......nothing. She's not even mad even though she's wearing the fake guy's engagement ring.

At this point, I just quickly skimmed the rest of the book because it was bad.

The timelines jumped all over the place. I'm not sure if they were downloaded wrong or if it was intentional. The plot was already a hot mess and the timeline jumps made it even messier.

This was ok, but unfortunately just not for me overall. I’m giving it 3 stars because it’s well written and it could be perfect for you!!

What I liked:
1. I liked that Eloise talked to herself a lot! This reminds me of me and I thought it was absolutely hilarious watching her go back and forth with herself!

2. I liked the family dynamic between Eloise and her brother Iverson; I definitely could tell that he had his own book at some point given how much he was referenced but was still in the background. I would definitely be interested in reading his story as I really liked him as a character.

3. I liked the couple’s unique approach to trying to come together again by taking a bit of a vacation from life together. Even though he still had to work, it was a very relaxed environment to try to give them a chance (or, at least it was supposed to be! haha), and I liked this approach.

What I wasn’t a fan of:
1. The biggest thing for me was the timing of events. From the blurb, I expected this to be a book about him finding out he had a son and then trying to get back in her good graces. However, the blurb is misleading given he already knows and has been in the kid’s life for years acting as a father should. I found this a little off putting, especially when we’re thrown into the story after the couple has decided to rekindle their romance and we don’t know anything of the years in between.

I also felt that by throwing us into the middle of them rekindling, I as the reader missed out on getting to know these two as characters. There was no initial buy-in period, which ultimately made it hard to connect with them as the MCs.

2. I would have liked a little more page count geared towards their child and them together as a family.

Thank you to Hambright PR and L.A. Ferro for the opportunity to read this book. The thoughts and opinions expressed above are honest and my own.

Eloise & Callum had my heart from the get go, but so many times I was screaming communicate at them! When they were first together they were only young (6 years prior), so I can see how things were misunderstood, & it was fabulous to be a part of the deepening of their love journey & the evolution of their characters. I grieved for the time they lost, but revelled in the commitment they ultimately shared to make it work. Callum & his possessive, absolutely in love with Eloise & pure heart, had me rooting for him so much.

I love the way the author L.A. Ferro not only just writes a romance story in her books. There's always tension, angst, suspense and plot twists that have you on the edge of your seat, and when that spice hits, boy oh boy does it hit 🥵🔥🌶️.

If you like to be captivated by the storyline, fall in love with the characters, want angst, suspense & drama, coupled with a little sweet & a whole lotta heat, then dive straight into these 🏒🥅🤭💖🥵🔥🌶️🫶 filled pages.

Scoring Grey is a story of second chances. Eloise and Callum dated in school. In comes some things that make them spilt with secrets being kept. Flash to 6 years forward and they try to give their relationship a new chance and see where it goes. This is an angsty book. It will keep you on your toes with plot twists that you didn’t see coming. L.A. never disappoints and always delivers beautifully written stories that suck you in.

When it comes to LA Ferro, she only writes complete masterpieces! And she has done it, yet again with Scoring Grey!

This book! The storyline! The characters& side characters! I LOVED every single page of it!!!!

The emotional connections that were grown, the flaws that made the characters more relatable, the way the mc’s journey takes place. It was all beautiful.

And the plot twists and turns with the angsty suspense and steam- just crafted perfectly!

A must read!

Meant to be mine ,oh my I did sigh . How good is this ? I’ll tell ya , absolute bliss! L.A. Ferro knows how she grabs her audience so. There’s always some heat an excellent show. How he sighs when he loses his prize, for a misunderstanding. Another chance please now ,he’s demanding and that blonde haired blue eyed boy that looks rather familiar . Is he his cause they sure are similar? He never chose another lover ,so she didn’t discover diddly squat .And now he lost her what has he got ,only his IceHockey games ,but when he comes home ,it’s like a dog to a bone ,a bull to a red flag he has aims . Nothing’s gonna stop him winning her back. Her and the boy are his destiny ,his very joy ,she hasn’t got a choice but to fall for his ploy. His charms ,it won’t be long before Eloise Grey is back in his arms. Little did he know why she called it off ,why she left the party bereft, without saying a word . If only his father he’d overheard . It’s absurd what went off . It sure made both parties feeling rough and so sad . In fact if he knew ,it’d make him mad. This book is so divine and packs some heat , along with this NHL hunk who’s ever so sweet along with the spunk. His Goals though lie in Copper Falls and not at the Arena …well you can’t blame him ,have you seen her. She’s his prize not his sacrifice . Without her in his life who cares if he shoots pucks on the Ice.Family secrets and suspense adds to all the tension that makes sense to some , but he’s not dumb and when he finds out …. There’s going to more than a bit of a scream and shout . This girl of his ,he is not going without no more . All the angst , the desire ,the uproar, the vex, the heat ,the cute and the guile ,all topped off with an after sex smile. L.A. Ferro I’m in awe even though I should know ,that your storytelling has all this and more ,because you know what you’re doing when you write this delightful prose that has us on edge and curling our toes ,yelling for more. Encore ,you’re super ,just want ya to know , I thoroughly enjoyed Scoring Grey ,it blew me away.

Well dayum. This just took "second chance" to a new level. LA Ferro just elevated that trope to another stratosphere because hooooly moly. Talk about fighting for a second chance!

Lou and Cal have a sordid past, of sorts. There's lots of teenage angst from their early years, miscommunication and naïveté - as there should be. But that's all very important because fast forward to the present and he's a pro hockey player while she's figuring life out with her family and career - and their son. And they are finally going to give it that second chance that they so desperately want and need.

What ensues is a winding road of emotions, full of hurt and love and lust, but it's also two people who are learning to trust and let go, by doing so they gain so much. The back and forth is at the heart of this story. And we got a glimpse of what this story might be in "Rewriting Grey" (not that you have to read that to read this), but having read that, I was desperate for this story. What I read was so beyond what I could ever have expected. This was fraught with emotion, inner dialogue and self-talk, along with coming to terms with how to trust and how to let go. This is something we can all relate to so it really cut deep.

Buckle up boys and girls, this book will take you for one hell of a ride!

Well, what in the romance hell did I read here. Let me just say , Callum Balfour is the man, and that man is my man. I will take no arguments here.
I have absolutely no words to describe how much I loved reading this book. You know that feeling you get when you get sucked in something you absolutely love and don't want to come out of that bubble , that space, that is what the feeling i had when I was reading Scoring Grey. Y'all read this book and tell me otherwise I will not be ok with it. Can their be another man who is just head over heels in love with his high school sweetheart like Callum. Elosie Grey is the object of his affection and the mother of his child. Having her heart broken from Callum (hmmm) , this story takes us back to the beginning and brings everything to head in the present. Add in hockey and a whole lot of suspense with sizzling scenes that make you go breathless, LA has done a wonderful job with this book.
The spice be spicing , the romance be romancing and the suspense be suspening . Ok that made no sense, but that's how I am right now with this amazing book. 10000/10 all day all time.

Scoring Grey, by L. A. Ferro, is part of the Copper Falls series. This is the story of Eloise Grey and Callum Balfour's second chance at love.

Eloise and Cal reunite to see if they can make things right. Their story was written wonderfully. I admired their passion and bond. Their destiny could not be avoided.

The flow of the storyline, the angsty suspense, and the plot lines all took me by surprise at moments. LA writes excellent plot twists! It kept me guessing the entire time. She is so good at weaving entangled tales that you have to remain for the ride.

Thank you so much to L.A. Ferro for the e-arc. All opinions are my own.

Another BookTok trap.

I had a feeling I wouldn’t enjoy this one by the time I hit the 20% mark, but I kept reading, hoping it would get better. Spoiler: it didn’t.

Eloise was honestly exhausting, and not in the endearing or complex way - just a lot. Callum, on the other hand, felt like a lovesick puppy the entire time, and not in a cute way. He deserved so much better.

I usually love a good second-chance romance, especially when the guy falls first, the guy chases, and the guy is all in. But not when the heroine’s insecurity overwhelms the entire story.

The drama felt forced and over the top, and not in a fun, angsty way - just… unnecessary. I wanted to root for them, but I ended up mostly annoyed.

When I first read about Eloise & Callum’s relationship in Rewriting Grey, I was so curious as to what their backstory was!

This book delivered on a second chance romance that had me rooting for their love to defy the odds. Both Eloise & Callum let outside forces break them apart when they were young. Now they are older and trying to figure out if they can make a relationship work between them for their son.

Callum has only ever loved one woman, and he showed how truly obsessed he was with her in this book. He’s fiercely protective of her and I loved it!

Eloise was a great FMC. Everything she has done is to protect the people she loves. Losing Grey broke her heart and she never let anyone else in, but through out the course of this book they are able to heal.

The spicy chemistry between them is SCORCHING! It’s a bit of a slow burn but it’s worth it!

“𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘦.”

This book is full of secrets and generational mysteries that kept me trying to fit the pieces together the whole time I was reading! I did not guess the plot twist(s) but I tried so hard! 🤣

There are a couple villains in this story and they will make you LIVID.

It's been awhile since I've read a good angsty romantic suspense and I forgot how much I miss them!

The writing style and complexities of this storyline help create the full timeline for these two and made me that much more invested in their love story. To setting the scene and moving forward to present day timelines with the look backs at certain situations...we got the full scope and it was done so well!

The way that Callum truly loved Elosie Grey was insane. He truly was devoted to her from day one and I loved to see all the ways he tried to win her back on her timeline until he just couldn't resist. That moment when he took back his control was PERFECTION! Add in hockey and a whole lot of suspense with sizzling scenes that make you blush and you have the whole package!

This book is not your typical cutesy second-chance hockey romance. The plot is filled with twists and turns, from birth secrets to sabotage and scheming at every corner. And that is why this book adds a layer that gives you the full circle moment. I'm a girl that loves the cutesy but I'm also a girl here for a plot twist and this DELIVERED!

Another book, another time that LA completely sucks me into her world with her storytelling. I swear, every time I read one of her books I always on the edge of my seat waiting for the twists and turns on the way to our characters HEA.

And Callum and Eloise had me in a chokehold! A chokehold I tell, you because the always been you vibes these two gave off were everything. Cal and Eloise were a thing in high school, but when two oink lines and a meddling father threaten them, Eloise knows she has to let Cal chase his other dream of hockey.

Now six years later, Cal is ready for his girl to be his again. This man is so down bad for her and so possessive, I swear my insides melted for him. Oh and he's also a little cocky and a lot dirty.

And OMG, one of my favorite things in a sports romance is the jersey scene and between that scene and the ice rink scene (iykyk) I was a puddle. And in true LA fashion, she is going to leave all this mystery in random breadcrumbs throughout the story and blow your mind.

I love LA's writing style, this world and of course Cal and Eloise.

- hockey romance
-single mom
- it always been you
- meddling family
- down bad MMC

I swear I didn’t want this book to end…

•I felt all the feelings…
•Callum is literally THE MAN 🥹 This book started off strong & did not hold back! I can relate to Eloise on so many different levels. I was that young girl at one point iykyk.. Eloise & Callum fell hard at such a young age. Callum plays hockey & one night when Eloise had something very important to talk to him about Callums father got to Eloise & since then it changed everythingggg!

•6 years later..
Callum is trying to work through things to get his girl back… Eloise is very worried about what might happened. During a lot of this they find out things along the way.. Theres Angst, Family Secrets & Suspense! There’s a lot of what ifs & if anyone’s knows that is heavyy!! You think you got stuff figured out just know ya don’t 😉

Callum is literally is such a golden retriever with a little bit of possessiveness 😍

I will be honest. In the begging I wasn’t sure but then as I finished the first chapter I was hooked. The mystery behind sceneries was one of a kind. Trying to figure it out along with our characters.

A couple who share a baby but have had many hurtles to get through. Each one fighting their past. The secrets they hold close to their chest. Every time they figure out a new piece of information the excitement grows.

As for the special couple. Eloise and Callum. Eloise is an heiress that runs from the limelight. While Callum is our hockey God that lives in the spot light. Both trying to navigate their world with one another. He isn’t letting go the girl he always to claim was his. These two will go fight against all odds to end up on top. Get ready for some ups and downs. But some spice all wrapped up. This book gives all the feels and goes together perfectly. I loved this book in every form & so glad I found it.

Scoring Grey is a second chance love story between Callum and Eloise. They were high school sweethearts but ended things towards the end of senior year. A misunderstanding happened and through miscommunication, they broke up. Eloise kept her pregnancy from Cal as well. She didn't want to ruin his drama if playing professional hockey. What he didn't know was that his dad threatened her to stay away. It's been 6 years and Cal is a great dad but he wants Eloise back. She's afraid to get hurt and tell him the whole truth. They decide to try to work on their relationship. When the past comes back with a vengeance, can Calum and Eloise stay strong and work to keep their family together?

Review: I loved this book. This book follows Callum Balfour and Eloise Grey. Eloise and Callum are giving their relationship another chance. They do have a child together. They want to see if they still have the love for each other not just the love for their son. Will the secrets from their past tear them apart? I love the banter and angst in this book! I did not see that plot twist at the end coming. Callum is my new book boyfriend obsession. he will do anything for Eloise. He will give her the match and stand by her side to burn the world down. The little things he does to show her how much he cares.

Callum has one thing on his mind, get Eloise back. The journey there was a wild one, too! This was so twisty. I had my suspicions, but when everything came to light, it was SO SATISFYING.

Callum Balfour always loved Eloise Grey but with his hockey career on track for stardom and her little news their relationship changed after one party. He has always worked to get her back. When she accepts an invite to visit him 6 years later and talk, can Cal convince her they’re better together…as a family? This is told in both past and present so you have to read a few chapters in until you start to understand the timeline of chapter one. I did think this would be a little different story from the synopsis but it is still a sweet second chance, slow burn romance about never giving up on real love. Told in first person and told in dual POV.

Cal & Eloise. Wow. This book is everything. It’s has all the feels and I’m here for it. This book has a lot of twists and turns. Some I saw coming and some I did not. Cal is definitely book boyfriend material. Eloise is a fighter.

I somehow started with book 2 in this series so now I’ll be back tracking to book 1. This is my first book by this author and it definitely won’t be my last.

Takeaways: (in no particular order)
Adler
Lucas
Blair
Secrets
Lies
Betrayals
Love
Journals
Siblings (known and unknown)
Friends
Hockey
Happily Ever After

Spice: 2 / 5

Highly recommend

This was my first book by L.A. Ferro, and it definitely won’t be my last. I enjoyed the characters and felt that their chemistry and relationship were well-developed and believable. The slow build and tension between Eloise and Callum made their eventual connection feel earned, which I also appreciated.

That being said, the drama—especially the way Eloise kept pushing Callum away—frustrated me at times. While I understood her reasoning, it felt repetitive in certain moments and immature. The book also felt a bit long and overwritten at times, but the background mystery kept me engaged, and I loved how everything tied together in the end.

As for Blair and her role in the story, I found her actions a bit immature, but it didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment of the book. The small mystery in the background kept me invested, and the romance had just the right amount of tension before diving into the deeper emotional moments.

Overall, Scoring Grey was a fun read, and I think many readers will enjoy it. I’ll definitely be looking for more books from L.A. Ferro.

Ahh! Such a good book!

Our man, Callum, has one weakness... Eloise Grey.

He's totally gone for her and has been for years. He will (and has done) anything to get another chance with her, and now she's giving it to him.

But, while they are trying to see if they can have the relationship they both want, there's so many unanswered questions that they need to discover first.

I LOVE a man obsessed with his woman, and Callum is just that.

This story is a great second chnace romance with enough suspense and twists to keep you reading more and more.

I can not say how perfect Eloise, Callum and Adlers story is. It had it's drama and up and downs but it was so good. The chemistry was great and it was well written.

After book one I could not wait to read this one. Normally, second chance romances and miscommunication are not my favorite tropes but the way this one handled them, and the ages at when they occurred made sense in the storyline. LA Ferro has a way of adding twists and dark (not dark romance, dark) aspects into the story that just fit. My only complaint is I wish I had more Adler in this book because he is the best character!

Thanks to LA Ferro and Hambright PR for a copy of this read!
