The Power of Two Way Prayer: Finding New Meaning in Addiction Recovery and Spiritual Growth

Rate this book
A powerful extension of the 11th step of AA that uses prayer and meditation to improve your connection with God on the journey to sobriety.

Priest and recovering alcoholic, Fr. Bill W. offers detailed, step-by-step instructions on how to enter into Two Way Prayer. At the heart of the practice, there is dedicated morning devotion and quiet time, where you ask for spiritual guidance, pause and listen for the answer, and begin writing down the guidance that is received. It is this practical approach to prayer through listening and writing that provides a spiritual awakening, since any guidance received must be carried into action as a way to be of service. You will learn how this practice can comfort and guide you one day at a time as you embark on a deeper and more transformative phase of your recovery journey.

worth reading

Definitely recommend. Not just well written. Content is compelling especially for those in recovery who are wanting a deeper spiritual connection. Goes well beyond what is freely available online and proceeds go back into carrying this traditional practice to others

Very Useful Daily Prayer Tool

This book has become a very practical tool in my daily spiritual practice. It gives clear, simple instructions for Two Way Prayer and shows how to bring the Eleventh Step to life in a concrete, workable way. By following the suggestions, I’ve experienced a real increase in my conscious contact with my Higher Power and a greater sense of being lovingly guided in daily decisions. I especially appreciate the emphasis on quiet time, listening, and writing down the guidance I receive, which helps me discern what feels genuinely spiritual rather than just my own thinking. Highly recommended for anyone in recovery, or anyone seeking a deeper, more interactive relationship with the God of their understanding.

This book helped me create a picture in my mind of my own Higher Power. I then asked my HP what I should call them and a name and embodiment popped into my head that did not reflect a singular human I knew or currently know, but who “speaks” a language I can hear. This process has brought peace and I look forward to continuing it.

This book gives deeper insight into prayer and making contact with God. It also explores how to do relevant work through the lens of Jungism- all essential to knowing oneself better.
