സംസാരിക്കാൻ എന്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു തോന്നാം. പ്രായം അത്ര ലളിതമായ ഒരു പ്രതിഭാസമല്ല. പ്രായം അത്രവേഗം നമുക്ക് പിടി തരുന്ന ഒരു പ്രതിഭാസവുമല്ല. ഒന്നോർത്തു നോക്കൂ... എന്തുകൊണ്ട് എനിക്കും നിങ്ങൾക്കും പ്രായമാകുന്നു? ജനിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടും ജീവിക്കുന്നതുകൊണ്ടും എനിക്കും നിങ്ങൾക്കും പ്രായമാകുന്നു. പക്ഷേ, ജീവിക്കാൻ എന്തിന് പ്രായമാകണം? പ്രായമാകാതെയും ജീവിക്കാമല്ലോ? ജനിച്ചാൽ ഒരിക്കൽ മരിക്കണം. അതുകൊണ്ട് പ്രായമാകണം. പക്ഷേ പ്രായമാകാതെയും മരിക്കാറുണ്ടല്ലോ! ഒരാളുടെ പ്രായം മനുഷ്യസമൂഹത്തിന്റെ നാളിതുവരെയുള്ള ചരിത്രത്തിന്റെ ആകെ തുകയാകുന്നു! എന്റെയും നിങ്ങളുടെയും ജീവിതം ആകെ മനുഷ്യചരിത്രത്തിന്റെ നേട്ടങ്ങളുടെ എല്ലാം സമ്പൂർണതയാകുന്നു. ദീർഘമായ നമ്മുടെ ആയുഷ്‌കാലം എന്റെയോ നിങ്ങളുടെയോ സ്വന്തം നിർമ്മിതിയല്ല. അനേക കോടി വർഷങ്ങളിലൂടെ ഈ പ്രപഞ്ചത്തിൽ, ഭൂമിയിൽ, ബാക്ടീ രിയ മുതൽ ആദിമ മനുഷ്യനും ആധുനിക മനുഷ്യനും വരെ കൂട്ടുചേർന്ന് നിർമ്മിച്ചെടുത്ത ഒരാവാസ വ്യവസ്ഥയുടെ സൃഷ്ടിയാണത്. -ഉണ്ണി ബാലകൃഷ്ണൻ

When I first delved into Bill Bryson's "A Short History of Nearly Everything," I couldn't help but wonder why we didn't have such a captivating book in Malayalam, one that could encompass the marvels of science in a sweeping narrative. Unni Balakrishnan rose to this challenge and crafted a remarkable work in Malayalam, delving into science and humanity's place in the universe.

My suggestion to the Kerala government would be to replace all current scientific textbooks in schools with Unni Balakrishnan's masterpiece. Science should be a source of joy, not the dull narratives our science teachers often present.

With ten enlightening chapters, each exploring different scientific studies, Balakrishnan's book adeptly communicates complex concepts in layman's terms. It touches upon various aspects of life through the lens of science, inspiring awe, prompting reflection, and ultimately highlighting the vastness of the universe awaiting human exploration. We are on a journey of continuous improvement.
