Ashtarte

Rate this book
“The Firenze Empire will be met with a new light and darkness, but the darkness will swallow the light and bring the empire to ruin.” In an imperial family praised for their silver locks, Princess Ashtarte’s unique black hair is immediately stigmatized as a bad omen. With her family shunning her for being the prophesied darkness, all Ashtarte wants is to be loved, and learning magic is her sole option to achieving that. One day, she stumbles upon a spell of destiny that teleports her to an unknown place. Waiting for her there is a boy in shackles named Abelion Elforman, who is anchored by a grim past of his own. Will these two be able to work together to bring light to their dark fates?

I think I would've enjoyed this more if I didn't have expectations. I had seen some pages on social media and so I thought it'd be really good but now I think those pages may have been fake or something.

I went into this with really high expectations and it didn't live up to them.

The characters were decent, but the pacing felt way too slow for me, and the conflict was kind of stupid and not well thought out at all? There's a good handful of things you expect to be plot devices that are never revisited, I don't know why they bothered woth a reincarnation back story, this is the first time I genuinely think this WOULDVE been better as a regression revenge story. You think the sister is going to be a huge part of the story but she isn't. She's a super shallow character who does nothing.

The brothers have trauma from their mother and it's never revisited. The mother dreamt of the father killing ashtarte and its never mentioned again, like why did she see that? what happened in the future she foresaw? What happened to the sister's mom?

It was just so unsatisfying in so many ways.

Disappointing. There were many things that didn’t make sense:
-why show that she had reincarnated like two times? One of the reincarnations was also into another world.
-What was the point of adding more drama on the epilogues?
-How come Rion had to be told to give her a ring for him to realized that was the next step?
-I understand the father and brothers did bad, but by the end she could have forgiven them.
-It dragged a little.

Did not need the reincarnation trope, unnecessary and did not add anything to the story. Same goes for the epilogue, also didn't add much. Loved the story though and would read it again!
