It's Danny Ray, "the best dang rodeo cowboy in Oklahoma," to the rescue once again. King Krystal of Elidor's beautiful daughter, Princess Amber, has been kidnapped by the evil Fantasms--monstrous beasts whose sole purpose is to rule the magical kingdom of Elidor and to spread sorrow and darkness throughout the land. But not if Danny Ray and his eccentric group of friends have anything to do with it! Imagine a world with seas of polished black and white marble squares sailed upon by immense chess pieces hundreds of feet rooks, bishops and queens powered by tiny furry Tantarrabobs and Zanoomies. Imagine this is the battleground where Danny Ray, Tuk (a hellwain devil), KarooKachoo (a dragonfly princess), Prince Blues, the Sultana Sumferi Sar, Captain Quigglewigg, Hoodie Crow and the White Lady must rescue Princess Amber and save the kingdom of Elidor from eternal darkness.
I was minding his own business one day, watching old VHS recordings of Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes when it dawned on me I had a pile of Bible mysteries tucked away somewhere in a dark corner of my already dark mind. And so I tried combining the two. I got an excellent agent (Les Stobbe) and had a publishing contract with Thomas Nelson (Harper Collins) shortly thereafter. Six months later, Sherlock Holmes and the Needle's Eye hit the shelves. I hope you enjoy this strange combination. Fun is really my aim here, As there are plenty of serious (but good!) Bible studies out there.
This was an odd but very interesting book. All about checkered board seas with Rook and Bishop sailing ships. A young boy trying to live up his rodeo championship and fails and once again is transported to the interesting land of Elidor. It is a lovely world, where what you think is normal or should be isn't always what it is. Dragonflies are not always dragonflies as we know them.
It was a lovely book and I look forward to reading more in this series.
