"So, Christmas in the serene upstate of New York?" His smile was that of a lover's and my heart dropped into my gut. "I can't wait."
Everyone holds a secret, but Brea Hensley simply wished to escape her abusive past, a past that forced her to move to New York City for a reclamation at life. Finding a job at The Slone Law Firm allowed Brea to achieve the boring sense of normalcy she wished for... Until the night of the law firm's holiday party, which ended in a well calculated mass shooting that left Brea with a homicidal stalker watching her every move after she escaped the midnight massacre.
This book put me through the ringer! Brea was so spunky and her quick wit made me laugh. Her sarcasm really reminded me of myself honestly. Landon, I have so many thoughts about him! He has such a rough exterior, but around Brea that melts away to a sweet amd tender side. Landon is able to be vulnerable around Brea. The slow burn really kicks up to super spicy!! Just a great read all around, I look forward to more!
I read this book as I know the author, and I'm all for supporting new authors, especially if I know them. I just couldn't get into this book. I don't know why. I will say the last couple of chapters I enjoyed and did have me wondering what was going to happen. However, just because I don't like this book doesn't mean I won't continue to support the author.
If you're looking for an odd Hallmark thriller- this is it! It's a quick read that allows for a pallet cleanser between all the romantasy series we've been reading.
