انتظار داشتم که درباره نمادهای عجیب‌وغریب آثار هنری هند صحبت کنه و توضیحشون بده. ولی بیشتر درباره این بود که چه آثار باستانی و چه معابدی در کجای هند پیدا شده و مال کدوم دوره‌ست.
از حق نگذریم توضیحاتی هم درباره ویژگی‌های آثار هر دوره از تاریخ هند داده بود، ولی توضیحات، لابه‌لای یه عالمه کلمات عجیب و دراز و غیرقابل‌تلفظ سانسکریت گم شده بودن و سر در نمی‌آوردی ازشون. یعنی تا می‌اومدی پاورقی رو بخونی ببینی اون کلمه معنیش چی بود (تازه اگه معنی رو کاملا درک می‌کردی) رشته کلام از دستت خارج می‌شد. توجه زیاد به اسم مکان‌ها و معابد و خدایان و... هم پارازیت بود و نمی‌فهمیدی چی داره میشه!
البته دست مترجم درد نکنه، واقعا زحمت کشیده بود ولی خب محتوای کتاب برای من چندان جذاب نبود و آنچه می‌خواستم رو توش نیافتم. تنها بخش مفید کتاب برای من، پاورقی‌ها و واژه‌نامه بود که بسیاری از لغات سانسکریت و خدایان متعدد هندو و تجلی‌های پرشمار بودا و... رو توش توضیح داده بود و برای ادامه‌ی تحقیق درباره هنر هند، راهگشا بود.
