Bunny Tales #1

Run, Rabbit, Run

Rate this book
Being kidnapped wasn’t on her 5-year plan.

Barbara “Bunny” Townsend is a straight-A student and a rising star...

But nothing prepares her for the nightmare she’s thrust into when kidnapped. When a controlling and dangerous man takes her into captivity, survival becomes her only goal.

Now trapped in a brutal game of power, obsession, and submission, Bunny must confront not just her captor but the darkness within herself. As the line between fear and lust begins to blur, one thing is this is no typical love story.

Run, Rabbit, Run is a pitch black Dark Romance with intense psychological themes. Fans of captor/captive romance, dubcon/noncon dynamics, and forced proximity will find this story deeply unsettling, entirely addictive, and impossible to put down.

This book took me on a whole ride. All gas, no brakes, right from the first chapter.

I loved seeing Bunny fight for herself against her captor, Demetrius. And even more than that, the aftercare and attentiveness Demetrius gave to her throughout this book. The spice was just right. I really appreciate how Junie shows BDSM through a different lense and takes the time to flesh out the intricacies of aftercare. Also, showing how helpful BDSM can be with mental health matters. It can be therapy, work in tandem with therapy, so I loved that that was shown here.

And WOW, the ending brought me to tears. I just love everything about these characters and the thought put into them. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out!

Grateful to have read this advanced review copy of RRR! I cannot wait to read more by this author, and hopefully more of Bunny and Demetrius' story down the road!

This book was.... uhm.... well.... it pissed me off! The entire time I was thinking, "if only he'd asked her!" Then I get to the end and I had to laugh at myself lol. It was a solid 3 star read. For me I wish we would've gotten a little more back story on both Bunny and Demetrius. Although, that probably would've given some stuff away. I was confused through out the entire story as to HOW we got to where we were. It all makes sense in the end but it was upsetting for me with wanting certain things to happen, wanting more of a fight from Bunny, thinking she was acting like a helpless woman child.

There were a few misspellings and then words that I have never seen used the way that they were. So I had to look that up but all in all it's definitely worth taking a peek at if you're into BDSM. Even if you're just curious. This book shines a light on the importance of aftercare over and over again which I love!

It is advisable to take heed of the provided triggers, but give it a chance and proceed with an open mind. The author, Juniper, takes us for a wild journey, shining a light on BDSM, and then hitting us with a killer twist at the very end. This was a quick read, with sexual encounters that were very well written. I can’t wait to see what this author writes next!

This is a STRONG 3 stars
I think this was a very cleverly written book.
However, I spent most of the book not enjoying myself, and then when all was revealed, it blew my mind a bit. I think the overall moral of the story is incredible, but I personally would've enjoyed the whole experience more if I did have a bit more idea of what it was about. Don't get me wrong, though, the plot twist at the end changes EVERYTHING.
I would've like a bit more information about the "characters" throughout the book to get more of a vibe of the roles created.
The smut is VERY good, but please check the trigger warnings if you decide to pick this up!!! 🤍

Run, Rabbit, Run ARC review ✨

OOOOF. THIS. BOOK.
I received this ARC after seeing a small blurb about this book and I’m so glad I did.

This one had me hooked from the beginning of the book. This one had me sobbing and ANGRY for Bunny. But she was one bad ass bitch. She fought Demetrius tooth and mf nail. The dark romance side + the aftercare had me in a chokehold FRRRR. I never wanted to put this one down. I finished it and immediately read all my highlighted portions over again.

And that ending? Junie really got my ass on this one. I was literally speechless by the end of this book and that RARELY happens.

(pls check triggers for this one)

ARC Review

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

“I’m not going to hurt you. Why would I do that? You’re mine, and I’m not the type to destroy my toys."

Okay... truth be told, I went in blind. I kinda preferred to do it this way, and I can honestly say that I was not disappointed. It is a true DARK romance! Read the trigger warnings!

This is not a slow burn book. Juniper Hartmann jumps right to it. I could not put it down. I gasped. I cringed (in the best way). & I gasped some more. The spice is SPICY, okay! Like you get ALL the graphic details, and it keeps reeling you in right up until the last page.

Bunny, the FMC, pulls at your heartstrings. She's been through some shit and keeps pushing. Demetrius, MMC, is really hard to like... I mean, what kind of person is he?! As you read it from an external perspective, BDSM doesn't come to mind immediately. However, you really do learn to love Demetrius and "what kind of person is he?" rings to a different tune.

The best part, though?! That ending! OMG! There's absolutely no way you see that ending coming! I was completely surprised and sat there with my mouth opened from how flabbergasted I was.

Seriously, Juniper did a great job with this one!

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

First & foremost, check the TW before you decide if this book is for you.

The chokehold this book had me in from the very beginning was delightful. I love a good dark romance and this hit every mark I have. The spice was delicious, it took BDSM to a new level. The character building mixed with mental health awareness was chefs kiss. 💋 I completely devoured this book within a few hours, I couldn’t get enough. The plot twist had my jaw on the floor. I can’t wait for future works of Juniper! ❤️

JUNIPER- what was that ending?! You mean to tell me that I was literally feeling bad for someone who was willingly doing stuff?! Ma’am take my money at this point because this book made me mad, sad and happy, I was soo conflicted with everything 😭. If you like dark romance then i definitely recommend this as a whole but please read trigger warnings, your mental health matters most 🫶🏼

My ARC review for this deliciously dark novel: I received a free copy in exchange for my honest review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

This book was borderline “too dark” for me in the early chapters - but I’m so glad I pushed through the uncomfortable parts to get to the ending that floored me. (Like how do I just continue with my day now?!)

Because even though Juniper made me feel so much anger and rage on Bunny’s behalf; I wanted to scream and cry and fight for this MC - I also knew Juniper was onto something special with the feelings she invoked in me as a reader.

Juniper’s writing was gorgeous, fluid and engaging, pulling at deep and familiar emotions - I truly couldn’t put it down. Everything felt deep, heavy and so real. The final chapters of the book had me gasping out loud!

This book may not be for everyone, but if you love a dark romance with a twist and you can trust in the authors journey, take a chance on this one! I am so glad I did.
Not to mention the beautiful art inserts and fonts! Just wow! I am here for the vibes and the plot 😏🤯😳

Just mind the trigger warnings and Authors Notes before you jump into this dark delight! Please be mindful of your mental health first and foremost!

Thanks again for the ARC! Can’t wait to learn more about Bunny because I am hooked.

What I didn’t like: wish it was longer and that we got more lore/info on the MCs/the world. But alas I must wait for more 😂 🤷🏻‍♀️ *grabby hands for more plz*

Run rabbit run was a emotional twist that you don’t see coming. If you have triggers, please read the warnings. This book was not what I expected it to be. It was so much more. It might be a short read, but it’s well worth it. Don’t take my word for it. Just read it.

Barbara “Bunny” Townsend was a gifted student, athlete and trauma survivor, but now she was stuck with a sociopathic man who wanted no one but her. Being stuck with Demetrius was a constant nightmare. Her dreams of going to graduate school went down the drain. If she can’t convince him to let her go, how will she ever be free of the constant trauma and turmoil coming at her?

Wow, I did not see the twist on this coming at all. Towards the end I did have to go back and forth between a two pages because I could not believe what I was reading. I do love that the twist was there because it gave more emotion to the story, which I appreciated. As a debut novel, I was thoroughly impressed and would love to read more by this author. Sure there were some tiny errors (this was an ARC), but nothing that a little bit of edits or editions can’t fix. It really isn’t much that I would recommend changing. Also, we cannot forget about the spice in this book, because dang was this spicy and hot. It was a fast but good read and the spice just added to it. Some tropes include: k!dnapping, pr!mal play, forced proximity, , group sex and few more. The TWs are provided in the front so be sure to read it if there’s any cause for concern with the ones listed here. Some TWs are BeeDee SM, degradation/humiliation, pr!mal play, forced exhibitionism, etc. Take care of yourself. 💜

Run, Rabbit, Run is a dark romance novel that will get your heart racing!

You are following the two main characters, Barbara (Bunny) Towsend and Demetrius Ivanov, as Bunny is facing the trials of being kidnapped. RRR does talk heavily about mental health and has multiple scenes that show what it can be like when kidnapped and sold to the highest bidder. You will see the two main characters banter back and forth while also seeing Bunny learn how to survive.

You get the “dark romance” aspect of RRR with the grocery list of trigger warnings while also seeing the self love and aftercare by the MC. I am 100% confident that RRR will have the plot twist of the year for everyone who dives into this journey. You will be stuck in a trance where you forget time it is, what day it is, what your significant other's name is, and ALL the responsibilities you have while reading. I had my significant other turn the wifi off so I could no longer read… since it was 3:30am and I had to be at work by 7am.

A little blurb to keep you wanting more…. "There, now, was that so bad? Judging from your reaction, I think you liked that, didn't you? If there's a whore inside of you, Bunny, I'm going to drag her out kicking and screaming. I promise you that."

ARC Review 3.5 ⭐️ | 5🌶

This was a wild ride no one could've prepared me for. From cover to cover we are immersed in the intense juxtaposition of hardcore BDSM and gentle aftercare, and my neck still hurts from the whiplash.

Run Rabbit Run was so different from anything I've read, and part of me enjoyed that newness while another part craved more of everything. More plot, more back story, more characterization, more chemistry scenes. More, more, more! This book, as is, feels like a piece of something bigger and I felt greedy for it!

The plot twist at the end does make it all make sense, but like everything else, it felt rushed. And maybe because I was trying so hard to make sense of everything and the brief mentions of her trauma history, I guessed it before the reveal, so it didn't punch me the way a plot twist should but I still appreciated the way it cleverly tied this story together.

Overall though, this was an exciting read, despite the terrifying and gut-wrenching context, so I look forward to reading more of Juniper's work in the future! And I do HIGHLY recommend checking TW's before reading! 🫶🏽

“Instead she was a possession-something to be used however he saw fit.”

I have never read a book that made me feel my feelings so intensely. I went in this journey with Bunny. I was mad when she was mad, I was scared when Bunny was scared and I was confused when she was confused.

Bunny is our FMC who is held captive by Demetrius our MMC. Bunny is a spunky collage student who was been kidnapped and held captive by Demetrius. She then enters into a BDSM relationship with him. This book has major trigger warning including mental health so please check those.

I’ve read a lot of dark romance and some that had the same elements of Run, Rabbit, Run but NEVER have I fully understood the concept of that element as much as I did in this book. Junie did an amazing job at showcasing every single angle and emotion of this element from start to finish. The twist in this book, lemme tell you I didn’t see it coming. I was shocked and wanted to give myself over to Demetrius.

Run, Rabbit, Run should be released this fall. Make sure you check your trigger warnings because this is dark dark romance.

This is my first time reading something by this author and I was lucky enough to be picked for an ARC and let me tell you she did not disappoint!!

Bunny has been kidnapped and we watch as she comes to terms with the situation and finds a way to survive. Demetrius is a handsome man who took what he wanted and takes care of his toys.

"𝘿𝙤𝙣’𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙖 𝙙𝙪𝙢𝙗 𝙗𝙞𝙩𝙘𝙝, 𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪’𝙡𝙡 𝙚𝙣𝙙 𝙪𝙥 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙙𝙪𝙢𝙗 𝙗𝙞𝙩𝙘𝙝"

Run, Rabbit, Run is dark and full of triggers but the way it's written is freaking perfection! I was hooked from the first chapter and didn't put it down until I finished it! I LOVED The little tidbits we get inside Bunny's mind and the way she speaks in a way I felt connected to. I wanted so badly for her to find her freedom but I also wanted to root for the romance between captor and captive. And then that ending truly pulled everything together in a way that I wouldn't have seen coming from a mile away! I highly recommend this if your looking for some good BDSM smut.

Junie hit this one out of the park! Thank you for letting me be an ARC reader of this. I'm gonna need a few days to recover from the book hangover you gave me. Physically I'm here, mentally I'm Bunny in chapter 5.

Bunny is our FMC and she is fiesty, but I think most of us would be if we were kidnapped. We follow her story that is filled with angst, mental health talk, and confusion for her feelings towards her capture, Demetrius. She is held captive and is put into a BDSM relationship which we get to see many aspects of. Even though we want to hate Demetrius for what he has done and will do, he is easily loveable for his after care and thoughtfulness he has towards Bunny.

This story has a twist that I didn't see coming, but it made so much make more sense in the end. I appreciate so much that Junie is giving a voice to this type of dynamic and she does it beautifully! I absolutely loved this story and cannot wait for more from Junie.

From the very first page, Run Rabbit Run makes it clear: this is pitch-black romance, and the trigger warnings are there for a reason.

I absolutely loved this book and already can’t wait to start book two, The Hare in His Snare. Juniper Hartmann takes you on a wild, unsettling ride as Bunny is forced to confront her mental health struggles and past traumas, all while navigating the dangerous, intoxicating dynamic with her captor. The exploration of BDSM is written with intensity and raw honesty, making it both disturbing and captivating. And then there’s that twist, when you think you know where it’s going, Hartmann delivers a jaw-dropper that left me completely speechless.

Run Rabbit Run is a quick yet unforgettable read, featuring well-written, intimate scenes, deep emotional layers, and a darkness that lingers long after closing the book.

Thanks to @juniperhartmann for the gifted eARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

First and foremost, definitely check your triggers at the door. This book is heavily laden with scenes that can and probably will trigger those who are sensitive to them.

First thoughts, I need more… more of everything. This felt like such a tease 😭 I literally could not put this down start to finish in less than two hours, would have been less if I didn’t have other obligations. The plot twist was 👨🏻‍🍳🤌🏻 Chefs kiss I was not expecting that at all! When I started reading it, I was like oh boy what did I get myself into but once I was done it was “Oh my lanta that was some good stuff, I need more!”

This will probably go down as one of my favorites this year. It was fast paced and easy to read but you weren’t rushed through it to where you felt ripped off. There is so much I loved about this book. Is there more? Do we get more? Please give us more 😭😭😭😭

If I could give this more than 5 ⭐️ I would! This book is dark AF and spicy AF 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ and right up my alley.
If you are a dark romance lover then this book is for you. I will say it will not be for everyone so please check the trigger warnings before diving in. I read this book in two days and the only reason it wasn’t in one sitting is because I had to sleep. From the very start you are hooked in this fast paced dark thriller romance. This book is extremely dark and twisted, at some points in the beginning I even found myself shocked(which says a lot because I’m not easily found with my mouth left hanging open), by the end everything comes together. I did not see the ending coming but was so glad it ended the way it did because I was getting a little worried 😅. I love when books leave me questioning myself and my sanity and this book did just that!

I have no idea what the heck I just read. This was by the far the most fucked up, hottest book ever. I couldn't stop I was like an addict. Took me an hour (no clue why I started in the middle of the night when I have work in the morning).

All of the stars and all the spice! I’m SO glad I went into this book blind! I felt every single emotion as Bunny felt it; happy, sad, mad etc. I read this in one sitting because I could NOT put it down, it was such an incredible journey from the first chapter all the way through!

Through Bunny’s time being held by her captor Demetrius she was overcoming her own past traumas and healing by his side. This book will take you for the best ride. The end literally made me gasp!

The talks of mental health struggles tied in with BDSM were immaculate! You knocked this out of the park Juniper!

Keeping it vague as not to spoil...

First of all, this book is not my usual read but I must say that I found it utterly gripping from the start. I just could not stop myself from reading. I HAD to know what was going to happen.

And now, at the end of it all, I dont know how I feel.... I have literally never changed my opinions (quite strong ones) of a character or situation  - so fast - in my whole life! This book has given me mental whiplash 😆

Well played, Juniper.

HOLY PLOT TWIST?! Run, Rabbit, Run has been on my tbr since joining book threads at the beginning of July this past summer. The lovely author, Juniper Hartmann has been promoting her debut and since following her, the teasers were too hard to resist!

With a captor that is surprisingly soft, an assistant made for comedic relief, and hauntingly steamy scenes, Run, Rabbit, Run will have your jaw on the floor, begging for more.
