I think this book might just to be an excuse to drone on and one about why video games are a healthy part of a young man's diet. Sure, Benes spends some time talking about Jerry Springer and the Insane Clown Posse and Vince McMahon, but again and again and again we come back to the defense of video games. It got really boring.
You can write about the 1990s and not be annoying, pedantic, harshly left wing (Chuck Klosterman, The Nineties, being a prime example). But Benes isn't able to do so. Instead he's more interested in blaming the WWF for today's politico-media world. I wish I were joking. Hey, at least there's nothing wrong with going around and shooting cops while soliciting hookers on your Xbox.
