May Contain Spoilers... After reading both Spellbound series, I knew I needed to read Ember's series next. I'm glad there are more books coming because there's still a few loose ends! Only one book contains Daniel & Emma, & it's thrown in almost as an afterthought, just to forge a link to the other series. Spellbound does get a brief mention in a couple of books, but it isn't a focus at all here, if that's what you're expecting. I do now wish Florian had accompanied them to Spellbound. A whole new crop to plow, & maybe a new witch to change his tune (maybe one will visit?). I like the town of Starry Hollow, its quirky residents, interesting shops, & a mom & daughter who fit in almost seamlessly. Ember has the same knack as Emma for sniffing out clues, questioning people, & facts clicking into place to solve the murder (always murder, never just a simple crime). I found myself amazed that she managed to learn any magic because she's always having to leave lessons early due to one thing or another that needs immediate attention. Some of her snarkiness comes across as immaturity (my opinion & I don't know anyone from NJ to know if that's just normal), & it caused me to be surprised over Alec vs Granger (opposites attract trope). I see her as a better fit for the down-to-earth werewolf over the buttoned-up vampire. I did sign up to the newsletter to get the mini book about Raoul, but it sent me one for a different series instead. I really enjoy Raoul, & I felt bad for his illness (although I did guess the truth from the beginning & didn't blame him a bit- Ember is harsh). I am surprised that Ember's affinity with animals hasn't been explored more. That seems like a fair bit of magical talent in itself! I do have a guess for the BOS belonging to Ivy: I bet the key to opening it is tied to her wand. I can't wait to see if I'm right! I really like Marley, & I just know she's going to wind up powerful enough to handle Ivy's belongings. Only a couple of continuity errors, spelling mistakes, or words left out that I made note of, if the author looks at those. Overall, an enjoyable read.
I read her Spell Bound series before this, but I didn't realize it until about the 9th book in this set. Funny stuff!
This set was enjoyable. I'll have to look and see if the overall story continues since I'd like to see how things progress in the big pictorial story line.
The later books had more typos than the earlier books, but overall there weren't too many considering the quantity of material.
The author did a great job of not just having individual mystery stories, but also in creating a larger story that developed throughout the series. We get to know the major characters better throughout the series.
I'd definitely recommend this series. The books are relatively lighthearted and easy to read, with the mysteries allowing your brain to wish as much or as little as you'd like. They're fun.
I thought from the beginning that Ember should be with Alec, but he was an idiot, and unfortunately, that made her one too. And now, I can't get past that fact and its impact to the Sheriff, who I knew was not for her. I have someone else in mind for him, but you had to go and make him look like a slime. Ember is a contradiction, parts I like and parts I really don't care for. Alec is now not one of my favorite characters and that stinks. Stick to the mysteries as those were good. I do want to know what is going on with Ivy and hopefully nothing that will hurt Marley. Her, I like and Raoul.
5 million stars! This is the first series I have ever binged. I could not stop once I started and have forgone sleep to get to the end of the box set. Annabel has done the impossible with making all her characters pop off the page and come to life. I natually giggled out loud right before she wrote her character laughed, my heart strings were pulled, and tears filled my eyes at the angst of Ember, Marley, Alec, and Granger in respect to the story lines. You feel like you are in the story, and this is life. I look forward to binging the rest of the Starry Hallow Witch series.
Oh my goodness I absolutely loved these books. I am usually a slow reader and will take weeks to read one book if not months and then go for months before I read the second book and I read all of these books in the last two months. I just went from one book to the other. They were fun the characters have great personalities I just loved the fairy tale witches and Tinkerbell's. Highly recommend
I thoroughly enjoyed this series. The main character was a fantastic mother to a brilliant child. Although the main character can be very straight forward to a fault, she is a very caring person. The stories have many twist and turns, so don’t expect to figure it out until the author tells you. So get ready for an adventure. I highly recommend these books. I look forward to the next series.
This is one box set I'm sure you'll enjoy. The characters and the story lines are great. It's fun with a mystery, and the characters will are interesting, they'll keep you guessing till the end. This is my first books I've read by Annabel Chase, and I really enjoyed them. I'm about to read the next 9 book in the series. Enjoy!!
I started out by reviewing each book separately but decided to wait until the end!! I loved everyone of these books. They tugged at my heart strings, made me laugh, smile and cry but that’s what makes this series do good and so much fun, I could relate to the heartache in them. I’m hooked and will read the entire series. You have to give them a try. AMAZING FUN!!!
This series really grew on me. The first book was ok but I felt like the town was a little too cute to be real. As the series goes on it gets much better. I'm still not a huge fan of the main character, Ember, but her heart is in the right place. I'm definitely reading the rest of the series.
What a fascinating and intriguing mystery series. I love the characters and the storylines are so unique I’m absolutely hooked. The narration for these books are excellent too
I loved this series and the characters. It eases you in and you enjoy the ride along as a murder needs to be solved in each one. Lots of back story and great side line antics to keep you hooked. A fantastic read, highly recommend.
Wonderful series of books by author Annabel Chase. I loved reading all ten of these books. Can't wait to read more. Such awesome characters. I highly recommend.
Characters are interesting but nothing is resolved. She is pulled into a magic zone but never really told why she wasn't raised there. Why did the Aunt inherit all? Why didn't she stay with the sheriff, the better man? What is the Aunt hiding.
I love a book that is an easy to read, with a good plot but mainly a sassy witch, their family and friends with comic gold and this set didn’t disappoint Highly recommend xxx
The premise was good, but not well executed. The main character was irritating to the point I really couldn’t finish the series. I tried. I’m normally someone who’ll finish a book (or series when bought as a box set) but I just couldn’t with this one.
Totally enjoyed it! This is a well written and has well developed characters. The story is catching and with the strong characters makes for a very enjoyable read. Great Reading Everyone!
